One of my favorite places to study in Chicago. Of course, it was interrupted by a mentally ill man who thought I was using the camera to spy on him. And called the security guard on me and the security guard was just like 🤷🏽

I've been sick this week 😭 I even missed Thanksgiving. But guess what? I got a seasonal position at the local bookstore!!

Also, if anyone wants a queer, historically-inspired, racially diverse fantasy story with dragons, in the vein of ASOIAF but you know, without all That Stuff, please allow me to enthusiastically recommend The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. Because:

Tons of diverse historically-inspired settings from the roughly 16th century, including England, Spain, Japan, Arabia, Amsterdam, and more!

Lots of messy, flawed, and ambitious female characters!

Lots of queer people!

Lots of characters of color who play leading roles!

A dramatic sassy gay alchemist, whom to nobody's surprise I Love!

High fantasy, ancient prophecies, bloody magic, dynastic wars, DRAGONS, all that good stuff!

Epic doorstopper size (800+ pages)!

Has a prequel (A Day of Fallen Night) coming out in January 2023, which I am very excited about and which is another 880 pages!

Anyway, yes. I may get around to writing my own someday, but in the meantime, if that's the kind of thing you want, Do Recommend.
