Learned deer knight last week. After only 5 successful battles no less, when my silly wizard was at 67! I even caught myself looking up the recipe in case.

Apparently kingsisle is using a picture of Crab Alley as a look into Celestia on their “Explore the worlds” tab on their main website and I don’t even know what to say really about that. Like...they made the worlds, they should be able to tell them apart but...

My take on the new critical thing is that they’re trying to stop players from relying on critical as much… There are ways to boost your chance, using auras and finding the perfect critical gear, however I think they’re trying to force players to focus on other ways to do the damage. I’m almost positive that the critical and block rating of bosses has gone down for Polaris as well… It’s not like you aren’t being matched correctly. I do however think that in a way, they should make it a more steady slope, never really giving too much power to the exalted wizards. But I think they’re aiming for more of a reliable source for all the damage boost, beyond giving everyone 200% critical and 200% block. What good does that do?

You’re right on going a different direction to deal damage. Look at this new wand:

Remember back when Merle gave us a potion because Bartleby was sick? Waaaaaayyyy back in the first world? I just did, and it gave me a though

Well…what if it was a slow acting poison? What if this had been merle’s plan from the beginning. Slowly corrupting up, allowing us to learn shadow magic when Morganthe was exiled. What if merle has been pretending to help us from the beginning, when in reality we were nothing more than pawns in his little game to destroy the spiral. Think about it. We released Old Cob, the most dangerous being in spiral. One of the oldest creatures, so old and great that he was imprisoned by grandmother raven herself. And how does Merle respond. “Congratulations, you have graduated.” we weren’t expelled. He didn’t take our spellbook and wand. Morganthe nearly destroyed wizard city, but we released a creature that has the potential to destroy the spiral as we know it. and we are rewarded for doing so.  Morganthe isn’t the villian. Malistaire isn’t the villian. Old Cob isn’t even the villian.  The real villian, is none other than Merle Ambrose himself.

This could really play out so well.  He pushed us to shadow magic, he set us about destroying so many things.  He took a gullible, little child and tricked them into doing his dirty work while he hid in his room plotting.  Even back then, Bartleby was having trouble remembering and he rambles about Malistaire tormenting him at night?  What if Malistaire was actually trying to help him?  To save him?  What if both he and Sylvia were and Sylvia poked a little too close and was also contaminated by the poison and that was actually what killed her too?  

Let us discover this and then, now that we’re adults (having graduated school and moving on to higher education) we have to rectify this terrible thing we’ve done and right all these wrongs and save the Spiral from Merle himself?  We learn Light magic and redeem ourselves and Merle’s the boss end of 3rd arc?  Perhaps even join with Morganthe who was likewise tricked and used by him?  Yeah, I’d play on for that.
