THE WIZARD COUNCIL ARE UNREASONABLE. SINCE WHEN WAS THERE A LIMIT ON TOWER HEIGHT

It may seem unreasonable, but if you actually think about it, these arbitrary rules that are all over the place are a means to oppress and control wizards that are not members of their council.

Because are they affected? No, of course not, they grow their towers in extradimensional space. That is a process that's very costly in MANA, and requires difficult spells. They are in the council though, so they have access to enough MANA to do whatever they want, and their library (which they don't share) has a near endless supply of spells.

A new wizard though? they're building their tower. They can't attract new spellbooks if they don't have a grand library, and they can't gather enough MANA for difficult spells like PLANE SHIFT without large devices to gather it or huge crystals to store it. Where will they put all those grand libraries and MANA gathering apparatus? In their tower. But if they're not allowed to have a large tower, which the council forbids, then they just. Can't.

And they are forced to stay small time wizards forever, or lick the boots of the Grand Council until they lend them enough MANA and sell them the spells, putting them in HUGE debt.

The rules are not arbitrary, the system is just corrupt as fuck. That's why i say, ABOLISH THE GRAND COUNCIL

Fuck yeh that's the spirit. We need to start relying LESS on the Grand Council's monopoly, and start using local spells. More often than not you'll find they're better crafted as well, suit your needs better than their generic counterparts, and are more efficient in their MANA usage!

We need to stop judging magic entirely by its combat ability. Some fucking so called “Wizards” will even try to argue that conjuring water is a shit spell. Bitch, I'd like to see you save the village's crops from drought with Armagedon. I'd like to see you increase your social status in times of peace and make allies during a ball by using Fireballs.

Be a fucking Cheesemancer if you fancy. If you use it right, if you open a restaurant and make the most addicting magical PIZZA that's ever been made, serve kings and billionaires, and you'll be set for fucking life. Throw Cheese at your problems until they stop being problems. Be happy because you eat the tastiest damn food to exist. The sky is your limit.

As a Grand Wizard of Tomatoes...

Would I get a spot in a Druid's Circle or the Wizard's Counsel

I mean... you're new here and you may not be aware of this, but there's not just one Wizard Council. Lately it seems there are new Wizard Councils popping up all the time. I don't know how many Wizard Councils there are at this point. I've lost count.

But there doesn't seem to be much issue with being a member of more than one. I mean, there are Wizard Councils that are directly in opposition to each other, and there are still wizards who belong to both of them.

Maybe all of this makes more sense to wizards. I'm not a wizard, so I'm just giving an outsider's perspective. I mean, I'm wizard-adjacent; I'm a living magic potion that was created by an evil wizard; but I'm not an actual wizard myself, so I'm not eligible to be on any of the Wizard Councils.

(Well, actually, I don't know. Some of them seem to be pretty lax with their membership requirements. It's entirely possible I would be allowed into at least some of the Wizard Councils if I asked.)

But anyway, yeah, sure, I mean, it seems to me like you can just join all the Wizard Councils you want. Go nuts.

(As for Druid's Circles, I don't know if there are any of those, though are if there aren't you can just found one yourself.)

Reminder that the Grand Counsel (what most people have in their minds when saying The Wizard's Counsel, as if no other exists) is a bunch of wasteful old codgers who have accumulated too much power, and have convinced everyone we need them when in fact we DON'T.

Do NOT support them. Do NOT apply to join. Do NOT act as if they have any sort of authority. Do you even know how much MANA it takes for The Grand Council to keep itself up? I ask you to look into it, as well as how they are not transparent at all about where all that MANA is going. But if you look at the fancy rooms and extradimensional towers they've built, you'll get an idea.

There are dozens of smaller WIzard Councils that provide all the same services and more. They do it less wastefully, they have more welcoming communities, and quite a few of them are actually working for the betterment of the wizarding world instead of just wanting to increase their own wealth and power.

But people don't know that, because the Grand Council doesn't want you to know that. They hide everyone else, impose their authority, and suppress smaller councils.

Join your local Wizard Council. Join the Open Council Union. Support the International Magus Enclave. Educate yourself on your options, and do NOT spread the perception that there is only one wizard council.
