I have resorted to sending people asks because Yousef has struggled with getting his gofundme to gain traction ever since they started it 6 months ago. Yousef is not very active here on tumblr because they have a hard time getting stable internet connection where they are and he's not very familiar with how tumblr works, but he does post updates on instagram somewhat regularly. They really need the funds especially since Yousef got sick and injured recently and has not been able to recover fully yet because of their hard living conditions. They want to be able to reach their goal soon so that when the border crossing opens, they'd be ready to pay the fees and leave as soon as they can.
Even if you are unable to donate, I would really be grateful if you can post Yousef's link or reblog the post I made for him so that we can find more people with the means to donate. Thank you very much and I pray that your kindness be returned back to you someday.

The amount this fandom, especially in fanfiction, insist on whittling down Alicent to nothing more than a victim in most of your works is hella weird to me. And it’s the way a lot of people will then carry this bias over into other fanfics where it DOES NOT apply. There’s a fic that involves Alicent being 10 years older than Rhaenyra and absolutely grooms her in the story, and yeah she has some conflicting emotions about it (good for her I guess?) and in this most recent chapter it’s revealed a freshly 18 year old Rhaenyra (who already has two children by Alicent at this point, Alicent is 28) cheated on Alicent once after they had a big fight over OOP, Rhaenyra being manipulated
And the COMMENTS, the comments were FULL of people being like “I hate Rhaenyra she’s so stupid I’ve lost all sympathy for her how could she do this to Alicent she’s so fucking stupid I’m now 100% on Alicent’s side” and I’m literally not exaggerating. Pages of it
I was, appalled? Aghast? Dumbfounded? I really hate how a lot of this fandom just reduces Alicent to “must be the victim all the time” which is a serious disservice to her character, and Rhaenyra must be the perpetrator of all harm all the time.
And are we ready to talk about how that reeks of internalized misogyny and “perfect victim” mentality yet orrrr? Cuz why are we constantly making the more fem presenting person in the relationship the victim (author intended or not) and the more typically masc presenting person constantly the perpetrator? (Author intended or not)
But naaaah people wanna tell me it’s not that deep, cuz the very concerning pages of this mindset about a grooming victim shouldn’t be cause for concern or anything, silly me I guess

House of the dragon is so funny because normally if there's a big gay ship full of subtext in a show the fans will go crazy making everything about the ship and twisting the narrative to fit it while the showrunners don't actually care and try to steer the characters away from it to avoid queerbaiting accusations. Meanwhile in hotd everyone from the writers to the actors to the directors is fully yuri pilled like Rhaenyra and Alicents dynamic is the heart of the show and the narrative doesn't work without acknowledging it. And a large portion of the fans are still stubbornly trying to ignore it two seasons in and twist the characters actions in another direction even if it makes no sense. It's so funny the showrunners went sorry no you're not getting a two dimensional Cersei rip off you're getting childhood friends to enemies who long to be lovers. And the concept just would not compute in the fans brains unless they cared about female characters and the dynamic between them, which we already know the majority of most fans do not.
