I haven't written in ages and I probably won't again but the lack of Hope fics on this hellsite is criminal, so...

Summary: You'd always been nervous around girls, especially the ones you liked, but this time you had luck on your side.

Pairings: Hope Van Dyne x Reader

Warnings: Literally none. I have dialled down the angst and foul language for this one.

It was a feeling you couldn’t quite describe. It didn’t hurt, and it wasn’t uncomfortable, but it wasn’t natural. You opened your eyes, glancing around at the foliage. Green towered over your head, and you followed it with your eyes all the way from the dirt under your feet to the very tips, squinting against the sunlight that shone through it. When you cast your gaze back down, you looked at the seemingly endless sea of green around you. You were hopelessly lost, and so you chose a random direction to start walking in.

Five minutes passed. Then ten minutes passed. You glanced at one of the tall stalks, wondering if maybe getting up higher would help you find your way. Deciding it would, you grabbed onto it and heaved yourself up. It bent a little underneath your weight, but you managed to get yourself to the top, nestling in between the large leaves and looking around from your new vantage point. It was by no means the tallest of the bunch, but it gave you enough height to find the tall tree far to your left, letting you know now where you were.

It was only when you went to climb down that you realized what you were standing on. You almost squealed in delight, but something else caught your attention instead. The loud thundering was coming from behind you, something massive racing your way. The shadow was approaching quicker than you could get out of the way. You were knocked from the top of the stalk and went tumbling toward the ground. You gave a shout of distress and you slammed your finger down on the red button.

“What the hell was that thing?” You gasped, scrambling to your feet.

Hope was in stitches, almost howling with laughter. You glared at her as she doubled over, grasping at her stomach as she took a deep breath.

“It was a squirrel.”

You moved toward her, dropping onto the step next to her. “Oh, very funny, Van Dyne. Not all of us are practiced at being a half-inch tall, you know.”

“Clearly.”

You smacked her. “He made me lose my four leaf clover.”

The genuine disappointment on your face must have been clear, as no teasing remark came from the girl next to you. Only when she stood up and offered her hand to you did you even look up at her. She didn’t say a word, but reached out to grab your hand off your lap when you didn’t meet her halfway. She pulled you to your feet, not letting go of your hand as she brought you onto the lawn. She tugged you down as she sat down cross-legged beside a small patch of clovers.

“You probably trampled the other when that squirrel knocked you down,” she said, gesturing for you to sit on the opposite side of the patch. “So, we’ll find you another.”

You smiled to yourself as you cast your gaze to the ground. Both of you worked hard, picking through the patch clover by clover for more than twenty minutes. You were near admitting defeat when Hope gave a cheer, holding the small plant between her thumb and forefinger. You scrambled over so that you were kneeling in front of her, staring in awe at the prize you’d both been searching so hard for. Hope held it out to you.

“For me?” You asked.

“Yeah. You’re the one who was looking for it.”

She was watching you intently. Timidly, you reached out and took the clover from her hand. You placed it into your palm, admiring it quietly. It meant so much more coming from the woman in front of you than it had when you’d mistakenly stumbled upon it as you adventured through the lawn. You rose to your feet, letting Hope follow your lead toward the house as you passed through her front door. You headed straight for the living room.

“What are you doing?”

You grabbed an old Atlas off the bookshelf and moved into the kitchen. You could feel Hope’s eyes on you, as you rummaged through the cupboard, withdrawing a coffee filter from the box before sitting down at the table. Hope sat down next to you, watching as you tore a small piece of the coffee filter off, set the clover on it, and then carefully shut it in the middle of the Atlas. You put your hand onto the cover and glanced over at Hope.

You would never admit it to her, but her eyes were a shade of green that was a million times more beautiful than the clover you were trying so desperately to preserve. She smiled at you.

“Where’d you learn that?”

“Learn it? It doesn’t take much,” you chuckled. “But I guess you were busy being smart while I was busy pressing daisies in the schoolyard.”

That made her chuckle. “Well, I wasn’t much of an outdoorsy kid. Though, I did like camping.”

“Camping?”

Hope, stood without a word, heading back to the living room. Before you could make to follow her, though, she was back, holding a small photo album in her hands. She flipped through a few pages before holding it up so you could see what she was looking at.

The girl in the photo was six, at the most. The eyes and the smile, though, were unmistakable. Little Hope was holding up a marshmallow on a stick as she sat by the campfire between her parents, obviously mid giggle. The photo made you smile to yourself as you handed the album back to the now-grown version of that girl in the photo. Hope set it down gently on the table next to the atlas. She didn’t say anything for a long moment.

“We didn’t go much, Mom and Dad were always busy, but when we did… they were some of the best times of my life.”

You stopped and thought about that for a moment. “Close your eyes.”

Hope raised an eyebrow. “What?”

“Close your eyes. Come on, don’t you trust me?”

Her eyes fluttered shut and she put her hands over top of them.

You worked around her, digging through drawers, rifling through cupboards, and even darting from the room for a few moments. You were making all sorts of noise that you were sure Hope was dying to look up and see the cause of. She refrained, though, giving you time to set a large assortment of things on the kitchen table carefully. Once you were sure everything was perfect, you shut the blinds, flicked the lights off, and stood behind Hope. You touched her hands gently, so as not to startle her. Your fingers twisted between hers a little so that you could move her hands away from her face.

“Surprise.”

Hope tilted her head to the side in confusion. “It’s a candle.”

A small tea light flickered on the table in front of you. “Yes, but for us,” you said, gesturing to the suit you were wearing and the second one that was handing over the back of a chair, “it’s a campfire. And with a couple of Pym discs…”

Hope smiled. “Well let’s go then.”

Soon enough the two of you were sitting on the edge of the candle holder, careful not to topple into the melting wax. You stuck a shrunken marshmallow to the end of the small splinter of wood you’d broken off the end of a toothpick, handing it to Hope. She thanked you softly, holding it out toward the flame as you put a second one together for yourself. At the heavy sigh from next to you, you glanced over to Hope.

“Thank you for this.”

You smiled at her, eyes locked to hers. “Anytime.”

Once more you both fell into silence.

Soon enough the marshmallows were set aside and you were both sitting quietly, watching the flame dance in front of you. When Hope’s head came to rest on your shoulder, you couldn’t help but tense up for a moment, your nerves getting the best of you. With a few subtle deep breaths, you managed to relax, letting the woman take quiet comfort in you. You even dared rest your head on top of hers.

“What was the clover for?”

You chuckled softly. “I needed a little luck.”

“Oh? What for?”

It was a terrifying idea, but you answered her honestly. “I get nervous around girls I like.”

Hope moved off your shoulder. You screamed at yourself inside your head. Why had you said that? Of course she was moving away from you. You were an idiot. You may have had a hopeless crush on her, but now you’d just pushed away your best friend too. As your thoughts raced out of control, you were just barely able to register something touching your hand. You looked down to find it had been covered by Hope’s.

“There’s no need to be nervous,” she said, the smile on her face halfway between reassuring and teasing. “This is the best date anyone has ever taken me on.”

You swallowed hard. “Date?”

Hope laughed. “If you’d like it to be, yeah.”

“I- I mean… yeah.”

The clover, it seemed, had done its job. Sure, you’d been nervous as hell with Hope all this time, but it had worked in another way. It was only with extraordinary luck that Hope Van Dyne would be leaning in toward you. You were the luckiest woman in the world, you decided, as her lips touched yours and her hand moved to the back of your neck and yours moved to grasp onto her waist. Suddenly, she was smiling into the kiss. When she pulled away, amusement danced in her eyes that sparkled in the glow of the fire.

“I can feel your pulse racing.”

“I’ve never been kissed by such a beautiful woman before,” you said in a tone that even you weren’t sure whether was serious or teasing.

“Well, you’d be twice as lucky if I kissed you twice then, right? I mean, to make up for that clover you claim you found in the yard.”

You didn’t have time to tell her how lame that was before she was kissing you again. Once your lips connected with hers, the thought was out of your head anyway. Besides, telling her her logic didn’t make sense might have made her not kiss you again, and that was something you absolutely didn’t want to happen. She pulled away only when she needed breath, resting her forehead against yours softly.

“Are we going to camp out here too?”

“I didn’t pack a tent,” you laughed, pecking her lips once.

The moment was interrupted when the light switch was flicked on, flooding the room with light. Immediately you and Hope moved away from the candle and off the table before growing to full size. Hank raised an eyebrow at the two of you, looking you both up and down once. You prayed to every god out there he didn’t notice the hot red blush on your face. Apparently, the setup on his kitchen table was much more interesting. He glanced over at Hope.

“What’s going on? Is that my suit?”

“Yeah. We were training with the suits and then got carried away and… we were camping.”

“Huh,” was all he said. “Alright.”

“We should get going, though,” Hope insisted. “We’ll be back tomorrow.”

Hope blew out the candle and picked up the splintered toothpick, throwing it into the garbage as she passed it. The both of you changed in a hurry and then raced back to the front door. You bid a stuttered goodbye to Hank as you followed his daughter out the front door into the sunlight. It shut behind you and Hope immediately started laughing, grabbing tight to your hand as she led you toward the car you’d come in. It was a sudden realization that made you hesitate.

“I forgot my clover!” You exclaimed sadly, glancing back longingly toward the house.

“Don’t worry. You don’t need a good luck charm to get lucky.” Hope had a smirk on her face, but you turned to glare at her. She rolled her eyes and tugged on your hand. “I promise I’ll call him and tell him not to throw it out.”

“Thanks.”

Hope chuckled, opening up your door for you. She managed to press her lips to yours for the briefest of seconds as you moved past her, making both of you laugh as she bumped her head against the door in the process. You couldn’t lose your good luck charm. Not when it had worked so well.

I loved "frozen hate"... Can I request angst. Where Nat knows R is hopelessly in love with her but "love is for children". When R tries to "flirt" with another agent(to distract from heartache) the agent is actually quite spiteful to R crumbling her confidence even more.

I hope you don’t mind that I changed up the ending a little. I’d written it before I realized I’d missed half the request 🙄

Summary: Natasha’s always lived by the same rule, and you find yourself on the wrong end of it.

Love is for children.

You snarled as you whirled the dart forward.

Maybe it was cliché, taping her photo to a dartboard, but it certainly was an accurate one. It did help to get your anger out. A smile of satisfaction crossed your face when the dart struck the photo of Natasha right between the eyes, embedding itself into the board behind it. Sometimes you wished you could throw one at the real Natasha, though it might just bounce off the heart of ice in her chest.

She deserved it, though, after what she’d said to you. You’d sucked up the courage to tell her about your feelings, something that had taken months for you to do. One day you’d nervously made your way up to her and blurted them out in a rambled mess- nothing like you’d rehearsed in the mirror the night before. The least she could have done was let you down gently. Instead, she’d scoffed. She’d actually scoffed, looked you up and down and given you those four stupid words: Love is for children.

You weren’t a child. You were a grown adult who had admitted grown adult feelings only to have them brushed away like you were absolutely nothing. At first, you’d been crushed. Now, you were furious. You hadn’t talked to her since, afraid you might actually put a dart through one of her eyes if you watched her roll them at you even one more time. You weren't even sure if the feelings you’d told her about still existed.

That night, when you finally left the destroyed picture of Natasha behind, you decided you were done with her.

You might’ve been a little tipsy, the night you’d made that promise to yourself, but you’d easily stuck by it. You never held any resentment toward the Russian, and as far as you could tell, you confession was practically forgotten on her end as well. That didn’t bother you anymore.You’d made your amends with what she'd said to you, and being friends with her was okay with you.

It was a month later and you’d just entered the compound, preparing to give Natasha a wave in greeting as you saw her coming up ahead. You never got the chance to do so when your name was called from behind you. You turned away from Natasha to face the familiar voice behind you. You smiled widely. Maria Hill was your favourite S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Everyone knew that. What they didn’t know was that you’d taken her on a few dates in the last couple weeks. You’d even taken her home on multiple occasions.

“Agent Hill,” you chuckled, stepping up to her. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”

“Oh, nothing. You left this at my place,” she said. It was cocky, the way she slipped your phone into your hand, making sure her fingers lingered on your skin. “On the pillow.”

You rolled your eyes a little. “Well, I guess I’ll have to find a good way to make up for this, huh?”

“I guess you will.”

She sauntered away, only turning back once to wink at you over her shoulder.

You smiled in amusement. A month ago you might’ve had some feelings for a certain Avenger, but they were long gone by now. Maria Hill was capturing your heart like she’d always owned it. You shook your head and put your phone into your back pocket, reminding yourself in your head to leave it behind at her apartment more often. You made to head in the direction you’d been going, but as soon as you turned you almost collided with Natasha.

“Hey, sorry,” you laughed, moving to step around her.

“Really?” She growled.

“Nat, come on, it was an accident,” you assured.

When you glanced at her face, you were immediately taken aback by the dark look in her eyes. It made you stumble a couple more steps away from her. You weren’t sure what you’d done to make her so furious. A quick glance around let you know that you were alone in the hallway with her, everyone else having gone wherever they needed to be for the day. You dared meet her gaze again.

“Look, Nat, whatever I did I’m sure I didn’t mean to-”

“You didn’t mean to sleep with Hill?”

You gaped. “Excuse me?”

“What? I rejected you so you threw yourself at someone else? It’s pathetic.”

A rage build in your chest that was a hundred times hotter than the rage you’d felt when she’d rejected you with such a “holier than thou” attitude. Now she was flat out insulting you, and you weren’t about to stand here and take it like you had last time. You stood as tall as you could, backing away from her and laughing a humourless laugh. Natasha didn’t offer you any more words.

“Throwing myself at her. Maria wanted me and I wanted her, Natasha. That has nothing to do with you. Not everything is about you.”

“She's a rebound.”

“No, she’s not. She’s someone that I’m falling in love with because you know what? Love isn't for children,” you shook your head, making sure you met her eyes when you spoke. “Love just isn’t for you.”

Below Zero

I wrote this monstrosity after a very thought-provoking conversation with @captains-simp. I hope you all hate it as much as I do.

Summary: On a cold winter’s day, you finally decide to ask Wanda the question that’s been plaguing you for days.

Warnings: None besides it being the lamest thing you’ll ever read

Word Count: 666 (it was only 664 but I added two more just for this)

Steve didn’t know, Tony didn’t know, and Vision didn’t know where the hell Wanda Maximoff had gone, but you were desperate to find her, even if that meant asking every single living soul in the tower. You asked a few agents, then Sam, and then Bruce, all to the same answer. No one had seen Wanda today, but you needed to find her. You had an important question that had been sitting with you for days, or maybe even weeks. You ducked into another room, only to find the wrong redhead sitting inside. You groaned.

“Nat, have you seen Wanda?”

Natasha looked up at you. “Hello to you too.”

“Come on. I really gotta ask her something.”

“Something I can answer?”

“No!” You said, all too quickly.

Natasha gave you a strange look. She hadn’t seen Wanda, though, and soon enough you were back out roaming the compound in search of the Sokovian. She wasn’t in the kitchen, or the living room, or the training room. She wasn’t in her room either. You weren’t about to give up. The question you had to ask her was all too important and couldn’t be answered by anyone but her. But where she was was a question it seemed no one had the answer for either. You were about to walk by the lab, but suddenly had a brilliant idea. You burst in.

“Friday! Find Wanda for me?”

“Miss Maximoff is in the library.”

“Thanks, Fri!”

Of course she was in the library. She was always in the library. It was a room you were not well acquainted with. Wanda was the reader. You preferred a movie or TV show (preferably something high paced). You raced toward the library, skidding to a sudden stop outside the door. You might not have been a reader, but you knew how much they didn’t like being loudly interrupted. Knowing this, you reached out and knocked on the door softly. Only after a quiet call did you enter the small library.

“Hey, Wanda.”

Wanda smiled softly at you. She beckoned you closer, and you moved forward carefully, sitting down beside her on the love seat she was sat upon. She set her book down on the table that was beside her, turning her full attention to you. You returned her smile, pulling your legs up so that you were sitting cross legged in your seat. The action made her chuckle lightly.

“What brings you here?” She finally asked.

You shrugged. “I just had a question. What’re you doing in here?”

She shrugged too. “It’s cold out, so I’m hiding out in here.”

It was well below freezing outside. It was far too cold to be able to build a snowman or a snow fort, so you as well had taken to hiding out indoors. You hadn’t even crawled out of bed for a few hours after you’d woken, thankfully having left your game controller on the bedside table when you’d fallen asleep the night before. The extreme cold was what had reminded you of the question you’d so desperately wanted to ask.

“Hey so, I was talking to Sam the other day.”

“That’s never good.”

“Well we were talking about the weather,” you continued as if you hadn’t been interrupted.

“Tame.”

You glared at the Avenger. She looked like she was suppressing a laugh, and the expression making her look so cute was the only thing that stopped you from sticking your tongue out at her. You only rolled your eyes, continuing on with your story without bothering to comment on her little quips.

“Sam said it’s colder than a witch’s tit.”

“What?” Wanda said, quirking an eyebrow.

“It’s a saying here.” You waved it off. “Anyway I was wondering the threshold at which point it becomes colder than a witch’s tit and I was wondering if you would tell me what it is. So… how cold is your t-”

Wanda smacked you hard on the arm before you could finish the question.
