Nina and Sarah have been friends for 10 years. They formed a friendship when Sarah nursed Nina's daughter after she needed a transplant at 7 months old. They ran 100k over the duration of last weekend, raising over £15000 for charity. Olivia, Nina's daughter, is in the middle
Laura started running in the March of last year. On the Race to the Stones weekend she racked up 100k over the Saturday and Sunday, showing that it isn't always time into experience, but the ability to work at something.
Almost at the end of day 2, shortly before the heavens opened. Debbie had ran almost 100k in less than 48 hours here, and still had enough in her to crack a smile.
Amelia ran the 100K over 2 day option. An epic achievement for her first journey over marathon distance, racing 50k, sleeping, then getting up to do it all again. Made even better as she came home as 4th lady.
Smiling like always. Efe upon finishing 50k. This doesn't need many words.
Together and undeterred. Our champ Emma was at the end of running 100K over 2 days here, joined for the second half of it with super women Tika and Jennifer. They both entered unknown territory and ran 50K. Teamwork makes the dreamwork. Photography : Hugo Pettit
Sprinting hand in hand to the finish. Sanchia and Tilly were side by side for the whole 50k. Sharing the hills, laughter and victory slices of homemade carrot cake, so the story goes!
6 weeks out with injury, a no to running the race, and then gentle persuasion came. On Sunday, Melissa listened to her body. She took to the trails with ease, ran further than the half marathon distance she'd experienced, and managed it all in her stride. A bounce back, and 50k in the bag for our Northern lassy.
One rainy finish line. A torrential downpour and sidewards rain wasn't going to stop Emily. She even had enough in her for a sprint finish at the end of 50k. As you do.
Here's our lass Grace. 9 months ago she could barely run 10K, on Sunday she ran 50, and can now proudly call herself an ultra marathoner.
On Sunday, Erea took her legs further than they've been before, for 50 kilometres of the Ridgeway. She said 'It killed me but it was a great experience'. An oxymoron? Perhaps. But you don't push boundaries within your comfort zone. You learn an awful lot about yourself when you have to get through something.
When Magda signed up to Race to the Stones she was met with questioning doubt, as a result of the reality of never going past half marathon distance, 'YOU are doing an ultra?!'. You know what you do with doubt? Tell it to get gone. She trained like she needed to, and yes, our lady Magda did an ultra. 50k in the bag and 10th lady over the finish line on Sunday. Coach Gentry killed it. 50k in the bag, combined with the ability to overcome the new and power through to a top 10 female finish. Photography : Hugo Pettit
On Sunday, Weronika and Maggie ran their furthest distances yet, sharing this venture into the unknown together. They reached the 50K finish line unfazed, and with the accomplishment of being 5th and 6th ladies home. Photography : Hugo Pettit
Ahead of the pack. Rebecca completed her first ultra marathon on Sunday. 50K. She was the second lady to reach the finish line, and second over all. Photography : Hugo Pettit
Saturday's 50k ultra heroes Rhianon and Claire made us proud as punch on the podium. Making new friends along the way before coming 2nd and 3rd ladies home.
