CRISPY TAKE
i hate it when canonically aromantic-asexual characters are used for your own personal head -canon that ''they would make an exception'' for you or your oc.
as a fellow aroace person, and knowing other people's experience, that will most likely not happen- im not agains having ''fun'' and expressing yourself,
but it really hurts, because I've felt alien all my life because of this. and when people do that, it can subconsciously make others believe that aro people are ''just waiting for the right one'', ''more reserved'', or other shit like that.
there are people that don't feel attraction as you do, and if you have a little bit of empathy for the people that character represents, or the people who relate to that character, you won't make it seem as if, all along, said character just didn't find the right someone or someone that ''clicks''.
because being aroace isn't something you can cure or something that will change *just because*.
that's my experience, though. let me know if you relate.

i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af
i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience
say the fucking words, guys. just say the goddamn words before i go insane!!!
So far so fake đ
Something neuroscience-y that helps with prose: attention is selective. A character will not notice everything in a room. They will notice what matters to their goal, fear, desire, training, wound, or obsession. A jealous character notices hands. a hungry character notices food. A soldier notices exits. A lonely character notices pairs. Description becomes character when attention has a bias.
I'll see you again, in a different lifetime! (separates below)
my quick attempt at a g6-style luna design⊠i doubt any sort of g4 luna plot points will happen in g6, but iâll be happy if she shows up at all lol!
g6 inspired applejack just for funsies
The way I fucking absolutely DESPISE how fandom just disregards aro and ace characters, specially if they are sex/romance repulsed
Like, for once, let me have SOMETHING
But no, I follow an artist and they go "it's okay, because (knowing full well the character is sex repulsed and already had enough time to understand their experience and decide they don't want sex) they now feel safe to experiment with sex!"
I follow someone else and they go "I love aroace people because I can turn them into having sex and romance anyways"
I try to read fanfic and they write "it's okay I only write nsfw of this canon sex repulsed character, because ace people can still have sex!" And they don't do ANY effort into making it a different experience than any allo at all
Every character is paired up, every character is fucking, every character, EVERY SINGLE ONE
"They still can..." I TRULY DON'T CARE, at this point I don't care about any stupid justification
Let them be their canon sexuality, ace and aro people have NOTHING
We
Have
Nothing
And we have even less thanks to YOU forcing characters into this stupid sex and romance boxes because YOU can't see anyone as different from you
"But I don't relate" IT'S NOT FOR YOU!!!!!!

"the fandom is dying" no it's not. i'm here
in all seriousness though a fandom doesn't die when there's no new episodes or games or "content" to play with and it doesn't die because people aren't as loud as the day it first came out either. if you're still creating then the fandom is alive. if your mutual who has since moved on still reblogs a post about it every four months then the fandom is alive. if there is even one person out there still engaging in, creating for, or just enjoying that show or that game or those characters, then the fandom is alive.
"fresh content" isn't the soul of a fandom. you are.
rarijack aren't in gen 6, bc they're too busy being gay and in love btw!!! đđ

I think the world would be a lot better if everyone understood OCD a lot more. Not just because folks with OCD such as myself get treated like shit because of folks not understanding, though thats part of it and people should treat us better. But because OCD is a disorder all about the connections between thoughts and actions, and the treatment is basically one big guided course on "thought crimes arent real", and everyone would be less shitty in general if they accepted that.
