Lucifer leads Chloe to Danâs Loopâ well, more a purgatory at the moment. She walks into the darkened, abandoned precinct Hell has crafted.
âThis is so eerie,â she mumbles.Â
Lucifer isnât paying attention, thinking of Jimmyâs Hell Loop and what a younger Jimmy went through. Why he made the decisions he did. Ifâ or when, ratherâ he becomes God, heâd know everything about everyone. Heâd be able to sympathize with them.
âAre you okay?â Chloe asks, dragging him out of his thoughts.Â
âWell, the whole point of this was to see if I could help someone I hated. But the truth is⌠despite everything Jimmy Barnes did, I care about him now,â he admits.
âSorry it didnât work out,â she says.
âNo, thatâs just it. I mean, I thought it was a bad thing that I grew to like Carol, but maybe itâs like you were saying. Maybe that was a good thing, as is this,â he realises aloud.
She shares a glance with him.
âIf I can grow to like Jimmy Barnes of all peopleâŚâ he says.
âThen you can grow to care about anybody,â she completes.
âSo does this meanâŚ?â she asks.
âI think so,â he says. âIronically, weâre in Hell, and Iâm finally ready to be God.â
Daniel clears his throat awkwardly, interrupting them.Â
âWell thatâs great,â he says. ââCause Iâm getting real sick of playing ping-pong with Belios.â
âDan,â Chloe breathes out.Â
Lucifer lets them have space as Chloe goes to hug Daniel. Lucifer stands, leaning against the staircase, as Chloe asks how heâs doing (bored, of course).Â
It makes him feel upset for Daniel. He deserves to be in the Silver City, having waffles with Charlotte. When heâs God, he can fix this.Â
Danâs face drops when Chloe mentions Trixie. Heâd avoided the topic of their child ever since Lucifer paused his Hell Loop for him.Â
âHate to interrupt,â he says when their conversation dies down. âBut we should probably be going.â
âRight,â Chloe says, clearly disappointed. âBye, Dan.â
âBye, Chloe. I⌠tell Trixie I love her,â Daniel says.Â
Chloe nods, taking Luciferâs hand, and he flies them up to Earth. They land on his balcony. Lucifer is quiet and pensive, remembering the time he shared with Chloe here on Earth. It hadnât quite sunk in, the fact she isnât a Detective anymore.Â
âSo,â Chloe says. âThis is it? Youâre going up⌠to Heaven? Becoming God?â
âNo,â he says, surprising them both. âI⌠Iâm ready to be God, but I donât want to be.â
She looks at him with curiosity, but not disappointment or anger. Which is more than heâd hoped for.
âYouâve always been so passionate about being a Detective, and I donât think Iâve ever had that. I mean, I wanted to be God for all the wrong reasons.â
âSo what now?â Chloe asks.
âWell, Iâll have to tell Amenadiel. Iâm sure heâll be thrilled,â Lucifer says sarcastically. âAnd then⌠Iâm not sure. I need to find my calling, I suppose.â
