THEY FOUND THE WHITE WITCH CATERPILLAR! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!
For context: the white witch is one of the contenders for the largest moth in the world (biggest *wingspan*--loses to the atlas in terms of wing surface area, and loses to the regal for weight). It has a huge range, and the adult is fairly common.
But no one had ever seen a caterpillar. At all. There were only guesses as to what it might look like and what it ate. until this year. These are some of the first images ever taken of it!!

a lot of you just want to ride a crocodile/alligator. i worry this would not be comfortable for the crocodile/gator in question. that being said i would love to rub a crocodile's tummy
in conclusion, i would domesticate octopodes and train them to install & perform maintenance on underwater communications cables. also general underwater welding. they have the intelligence to perform complex tasks and honestly i think they'd enjoy it. i would also deploy an elite octopus fleet to sabotage oil rigs.
(my one concern is they would be recruited by the CIA for espionage purposes. given that dolphins, sea lions, belugas etc are already regularly pressed into military service by the U.S./Russian Military, this is a serious concern.)
Alright I'm going to list 2 animals that I think practically we actually should/could domesticate and then some that is just if I could domesticate any random critter.
So the two I think we totally could and thus should domesticate are coyotes and cheetahs. Coyotes seem to be weirdly inclined to just. Tame themselves. Look man if they're so easy to tame that some guy accidentally ended up with a pet coyote because the pup was spooked and started hiding from the scary things on this man's porch with the man just sitting there, then I think it might legitimately be asking to be domesticated. Cheetah on the other hand have so much anxiety that they need emotional support buddies, and that alone should make them super easy to domesticate. Literally we just have to make the Cheetahs see us as their emotional support buddies and then start selecting for them to be more cuddly and whatever.
Now, for if I could domesticate ANY animal of my choosing? Any? it would probably be something that is extinct like a velociraptor or dilophosaurus or a gorgonopsid. Velociraptor because small feathery silly guy who follows me everywhere and has lil hands PLEASE SIGN ME UP. I WANT A LIL SILLY PROTO BIRB BUDDY. Dilophosaurus because its my favorite dinosaur and she could have such a pretty crest and might even be large enough to ride into battle who knows. And gorgonopsid because I think its name meaning "damn bitch they ugly" is A BLATANT LIE they have such a beautifully shaped face.
So a while back I learned that the Stanley Parable started out as a mod of half life two.
So uh. yeah. au where The Narrator and the g-man are the same person. The narrator became the gman after Stanley left the game. The way g-man speaks is due to how long he went without anyone to talk to, and after a certain point he just stopped trying to talk. He's really rusty :(
Stanley got out of the parable, but the Narrator remained. Narrator never understood why stanley wanted out. After all, the Narratorwas created to be here, to tell this story. Why would he want to leave? .... not until Stanley left and the Narrator was stuck there, alone. Permanently, this time. Not even an unreactive stanley model to keep him company.
The narrator didn't originally have a body, he created the form he has now after he was alone in the void for a while. Its up to interpretation as to whether or not the G-man rembers the reasoning behind the apearance he chose. It may or may not be a direct nod to Stanley's hate for authority.
G man was intrigued by Gordon because he's a seemingly normal man at first appearance, working at a morally questionable company, while not necessarily being in the know of how morally questionable his workplace is... kind of like a certain other protagonist the Narrator G-man is familiar with.

Hey, what if the G-man's appearance isn't actually something he consciously makes and is instead the result of mortal perception of his existence. Like he doesn't decide what he looks like at all, Gman's apearance is decided by the observer, typically taking the form of a member of the observer's speicies with the more nuanced aspects of the apearance influenced by what impression the gman wants to be conveying. Gman looks like an older male human in a business suit who is maybe a government man because that's a human concept of a person with authority.
Taking this further, gman doesn't actually speak human language at all, it's just that the perception of the gman's communication will be perceived in whatever format is most native to the observer.
I hate seats that are designed not to be sat it. Evil.
