List of Subscription Posts (Follow for Tumblr Notifications on any of my fics.) So apparently there's a limit to the number of links a single tumblr post can have. And I hit it. Oops 😅.
To fix that, individual sections on tumblr will no longer be linked directly here. Instead, I'll link the associated subscription post and all parts will be linked there. Send an ask/DM if something doesn't work!

Endless ghost fights with too many responsibilities and too little time; he barely passed sophomore year. When Ember visits town for a bit of fun, she mentions the Two Ghost Motel, a place of peace and refuge for restless ghosts who aren't ready to cross over.

Behind the Fortress Walls: Jazz is in love with Dick. He’s kind, considerate, and caring. Far and away the nicest person she’s ever dated.

Summary:
Tim Drake is spending an afternoon with his dad and Dana when he gets a call from an unknown number. The voice on the other line, though, is anything but unknown.
His twin has come to Gotham and needs help.
When he arrives, he learns Danny’s not quite so alone as he first thought, but he’s not with anyone Tim knows. The girl he’s with looks just like they do and gives him more questions then she does answers. He’s going to have to come clean to Bruce, isn’t he?
With the Saturday traffic, it took an entire hour to make their way through Gotham and over the Robert Kane Memorial Bridge. Both Dannies had fallen asleep within twenty minutes, despite Dick trying to subtly grill them for information.
Once they pulled into the parking lot, Tim shook them both awake. “Come on, time to get up. We’re at the store.”
Dani yawned and stretched her arms up. “Is it really necessary?”
“Sorry, kiddo,” said Dick. “I’m afraid it is. B’s never had a girl your age stay with him before. Danny-with-a-Y can borrow some of Tim’s things, but we don’t have much that will fit you. Most, if not all, of my things from when I was your size have already been given away.”
She let out a groan, but got out of the car without further complaint.
“And you’ll be wanting clean underwear,” Tim teased his brother. “There’s some things I don’t want to share even with you.”
Danny gave a tired smile. “Damn right. That’s a step too far, even for your favorite twin.”
“Only twin,” retorted Tim, pushing him towards the door.

Summary: It's the night before Tim's 16th birthday and Jason's having a great time just relaxing on the couch with his boyfriend. At midnight, Tim surprises him with a proposition.
Notes: This is an AU where Jason never died. Tim is still Robin, Jason has his own identity. The details aren't important for this fic.
-----
Jason had just finished cleaning the pot he'd made dinner in when the door banged open and Tim entered the penthouse. He was wearing nothing but some short jean shorts and a muscle tank that showed off his Robin physique.
"You are here!" Tim grinned at Jason before dropping his bag by the door and bounding over.
Jason obligingly leaned in for a quick kiss and didn't let his eyes wander down to wear the shirt cut out on Tim's sides. "Didn't expect to see you again until tomorrow."
"Bernard, Ives, and Darla took me out for my birthday," he announced, "since Bruce has claimed tomorrow for family. Rather than make Alfred give me a ride back to Bristol, I asked if I could just crash here for the night."
Jason felt a flutter of excitment at the idea of a surprise date night. "That mean I get you to myself?"
"Yep." Tim popped the p. "You're not patrolling tonight, right? You got the person you've been stressing over last night."
"I did and I'm not."
Tim grinned back. "Excellent. Then we're watching Star Trek."
Jason let out a loud, put-upon sigh. "I suppose. Since it's your birthday." But by the end, he was grinning at his boyfriend. Tim beamed back at him and ten minutes later, they were both parked on the couch with a giant bowl of popcorn sitting on the coffee table.
Once they were settled, Jason put his arm around Tim's shoulders and pulled him close. He could feel the solid muscle of Tim's shoulder and squeezed a little just to remind himself how strong his boyfriend was. Tim turned until his chest was pressed against Jason's side and he snaked an arm around Jason's waist. With this position, Jason barely had to bend his head to kiss him. Tim tried to deepen it, but Jason pulled away. With their position, he'd never be able to hide how turned on he was getting if the kisses got too involved.
"So when are you making Bruce take you to the DMV to get your permit?" he asked to change the subject.
"Monday! If I've got any say, we'll be there right at eight when they open. It's so stupid I have to wait until after my sixteenth birthday. I've driven the batmobile!"
"Yeah, well, it's not like the state of New Jersey knows that," said Jason. Tim pouted adorably, and Jason couldn't help but kiss it away. "Now, why don't you start our Star Trek marathon."
Jason regretted his statement when Tim had to pull his arm away from Jason's waist to get the remote. The place where Tim's arm had been felt cold without his weight there, but as soon as the opening theme started playing, it was back.
Only this time, Tim's pinky managed to find the gap between Jason's shirt and pants to rest against his bare skin. Jason kept himself from reacting even as goosebumps raced up his spine at the touch.
He was so gone on Tim. No wonder Dick teased them constantly.
Jason leaned over to press a kiss to Tim's scalp, and he felt Tim smile against his neck. Tim's grip tightened on his waist, and another finger slid beneath the hem of his shirt to rest against his bare skin.
Neither of them commented as the show continued to play. Jason was able to pay attention for most of the first two episodes, but then Tim brought his legs up on the couch and leaned against Jason harder.
Jason needed to use his free hand to brace himself which got uncomfortable before they were halfway through the episode. "Tim, sit up for a sec. If you want to lay down, let's do this properly."
"Thought you'd never ask," Tim said as he sat up.
Jason rolled his eyes, making sure Tim caught the gesture, then laid down on his back, leaving just enough room for Tim to squeeze in between him and the back of the couch on his side.
By the time they settled, Tim was half on top of Jason, not that Jason was complaining. He rested a hand on Tim's head and ran his fingers through his boyfriend's hair. Tim didn't bother pretending anymore and slid his entire hand up Jason's shirt to rest along his ribs.
Jason tightened his grip in Tim's hair to pull him up for a kiss. "You're incorrigible," he mumbled against Tim's lips, before cutting off any reply Tim could make. Not that Tim complained if the way he melted into it was anything to go by.
Tim's hand wandered a bit under his shirt, though it stayed above the waist. Jason let his own settle on Tim's back to hold him steady. They kept trading kisses until Jason could feel his pants growing more and more tight. When he had to hold himself back from grinding up against Tim, he pulled away with a gasp. Tim moved down his jaw to mouth at his neck
"Tim, please," begged Jason. Every time, it was getting harder and harder to stop. Especially since he knew Tim didn't want to stop, either. But they'd had the conversation—Tim was still so young and Jason didn't want to rush.
Tim stayed at his neck a moment longer, but with one last lick, he pulled away to pout down at Jason. "But it was just getting fun."
Jason raised an eyebrow at him. "So it wasn't fun before?"
"You know what I mean!"
Jason sighed and shifted slightly, pulling his hips away from Tim as much as possible on the couch. "Come on, we've talked about this."
Tim grumbled, but settled down again and they both pretended to pay attention to the show once more. Jason closed his eyes and just let himself feel Tim pressed against him, even if they were being good for now. He was still half hard, but he could ignore it for now as long as Tim behaved.
He must have dozed off because the next thing he was aware of was something buzzing against his stomach.
"Whaz 'at?" he asked Tim as he blinked awake.
Tim grinned down at him. "It's midnight."
It took Jason a moment to realize what that meant, but then kissed Tim. "Happy Birthday, Tim."
Tim chased his mouth and kissed him hard. This time, Jason didn't pull back. At least, he didn't until Tim rolled over to straddle Jason's hips.
"What are you doing?" asked Jason.
"It's my birthday," grinned Tim. "I'm sixteen."
"All of Gotham will tremble when you get your permit."
Tim stuck his tongue out at him. "You're an ass. And not what I mean. I'm sixteen. Means I'm legal." Tim's grin turned down right predatory, and he sat down right on Jason's crotch.
Jason would never admit to the way he squawked, or how quickly he reached out to grab Tim's waist. "We—we said we'd wait."
Tim rolled his eyes, then his hips. Jason was in heaven, or hell. He might have just woken up, but his cock had certainly not been as out of it as his brain had been, already he was hard as a rick. "Yeah, until I was legal. It's midnight. I'm sixteeen, it's legal."
Jason bit his cheek to distract himself. So many of his wet dreams had started like this, too. But the last vestiges of sleep were falling away as he realized this was real. "Are you sure? You're still so young. I don't mind—"
Tim ground down again. "Jason, if you don't fuck me tonight, I swear to god you won't see me again until after your birthday."
Jason tightens his grip on Tim's waist and forces himself not to thrust up. "I don't have anything," he admits. "And I'm not digging through Bruce's room for a condom."
Tim reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a wrapped condom. "And I've got lube in my bag."
Jason thrust up at the sight, couldn't have held back if he'd wanted to, and had to focus very hard to keep himself from coming in his pants. "You planned this," he gasped out. "Down to the minute."
"Duh," said Tim, though the flush to his cheeks proved he wasn't unaffected. "I'm not going to not plan out how I lose my virginity to my crazy hot boyfriend."
Jason laughed. He couldn't not. "You're ridiculous. I love you." He pulled himself up, so he was upright, too, and kissed Tim again, hard.
"That mean yes?"
"We're not—"
"But, Jay!"
Jason pecked him again and wrapped an arm tighter around Tim's waist before getting to his feet. Tim squeaked and wrapped his legs around Jason. "You didn't let me finish, babe," said Jason. "We're not having sex for the first time on the goddamn couch."
Tim laughed. "You're such a gentleman." He leaned down to peck Jason's lips.
"Gonna treat you right," Jason murmured against his lips. He didn't let Tim continue to kiss him, though, as he maneuvered around the coffee table towards the door where Tim had left his bag. He didn't want to misstep and send them both tumbling to the ground and ruin their night.
Jason was grateful they were in the penthouse rather than the manor. The distance from the door to his room was so much shorter. He kicked his door shut behind him and set Tim down on his bed. He couldn't believe this was really happening.
Immediately, Tim spread his legs and propped himself up on an elbow to stare at him hungrily.
Jason wished he could take a picture; Tim looked an absolute dream. "Want to always see you spread out on my bed like this," he said as he climbed up after Tim.
Jason felt that night was as much a present for him as it was for Tim.

This time, he did go to the “Worst Week Ever” folder. It required a second password and Dick raised an eyebrow. He hesitated just a moment before running one of Barbara’s programs to bypass it.
He had to know what had been done to his baby brother.
A few minutes later and he was in. The files seemed to be a mix of scanned documents, PDFs, and videos. He took a deep breath, plugged in some headphones, and clicked the first video.
Danny, only paler and with white hair and glowing green eyes, was strapped down vertically to the wall. He was wearing a black-and-white jumpsuit and was suspended a foot or two above the ground. Green accents lit up the wall and restraints. His brother had clearly been injured, but not terribly so. Bruising was visible on his face. And some of the green substance Tim was testing could be seen near a wound on his side.
He’d seen Danny bleed before and his blood was red. Did this have something to do with the other changes in appearance?
Danny wasn’t currently struggling, but he was tense and sizing up his surroundings. Then the door opened and three people in white suits rolled in an exam table. Strapped down was a girl a few years younger than Danny. She was barely conscious and green blood covered her small body and the table.
That’s when Danny started struggling and screaming. “Dani! Let her go, you assholes! Dani, I’ll get you out! I promise.”
Dick remembered the entry in the journal about a girl named Dani who Danny had considered family and had been attacked by his parents. Was this the same girl?
Dani stirred at the sound of Danny’s voice. Dick watched her mouth move, but whatever she said was too quiet to be picked up by the mics.
One of the agents looked at another. “Agent M, shut it up.”
Dick watched in continued horror as a metal muzzle was strapped around Danny’s head. His baby brother fought, but strapped down as he was, he couldn’t do much. He did manage to bite the agent’s hand, though, and Dick silently congratulated him.
What followed was even worse. Every time the agents referred to either Danny, they called them “it.” And were acting like they were running normal experiments. Danny was crying as he screamed into the muzzle.
Dick watched as an agent brought out a blow torch and cut off a lock of the girl’s hair to see how it burned. Then they dripped her blood into the flame. And finally, they held it to her hand.
That caused her to wake up again and she writhed in pain.
The only comment the agents had was that the subject “was continuing to feign pain.”
As the video went on, the white suits were slowly stained green. And then, finally, it was over. He stared at the black screen, unable to do anything but remember the scenes he had just witnessed.
Until Babs reached over and shut the laptop for him. She then reached over and rested her hand on his fist.
Oh, he was clenching his fists. He relaxed his fingers and was surprised at how stiff they felt. He took a deep breath. Then another. He couldn’t fall apart. Danny had lived that. What right did he have to break down just watching it?
“Dick…” said Babs.
He looked over at her and saw she was crying. He wiped a thumb across her cheek. “How much did you see?”
“Most of it. I saw how tense you got when it started playing and looked over. Do you know who she was?”
“I think… I think she’s a clone of Danny’s. In— in the video, he called her ‘Dani.’ And Dani-with-an-i is a name that showed up in his journal. He didn’t seem to know how to classify their relationship and called himself her older brother and cousin before settling on whatever.”
“So, assuming she’s still alive, we’ve another girl in the family. Steph will be happy.”
Dick let out a shaky laugh. “Yeah. Guess we do. Our baby sister.”
“Physically, she looks like she’d be about Damian’s age.”
“He’ll either love that or hate it.”
“Yeah.” Babs squeezed his hand. “We’re not watching any more videos. Text logs of the experiments only.”
Dick nodded. “You’re right. There’s enough here, we don’t need to. I think I’m gonna need patrol tonight to get rid of some of this energy.”
Babs nodded. “I think Red Robin will be sitting tonight out, so you’ll be needed. Now, I know I need a break. I’m going to go upstairs and make us some tea. You’ve got ten minutes with a punching bag until I return.”
This time, his smile was more genuine. “You know me so well.”
“After all this time? I better, Boy Wonder.”

Jason's feet pounded on the asphalt as he ran. A bullet flew past his ear and he bit back a curse as his tattered, bright-yellow cape flared behind him. Without slowing, he reached up and disconnected it, letting it fall behind him. His shoulder stung at the motion.
Bruce was on the other side of the city looking into the Falcones, and Alfred had gone to bed. Jason should have been able to manage the burglary that had been called in, but they hadn't expected Killer Croc to be there.
While Jason had brought him down, he didn't do it before Waylon got a good swipe at his back, tearing through his cape and uniform and cutting into his shoulder.
Jason hadn't been able to take on both Killer Croc and the people he was working with, however. So while Jason was busy with Waylon and calling in the police, the others had called in their own backup. He only just gotten Waylon down and tied up when a dozen more men arrived. And these were not the cops.
He fled, they pursued.
Jason knew of a narrow, mostly hidden alley nearby. If he could get out of sight of them for just a minute or two, he could hide there.
He took a corner at full speed, narrowly dodging another round of bullets. Just a little further.
"He went this way!"
But Jason was already around the next corner. Without his cape, they'd had no chance of spotting him. Almost there. Another turn, the voices even further behind now as they argued which way to go.
And he was there! The alley was so narrow it was almost invisible from the street, wide enough for two people to walk abreast at most. He knelt behind some beat up trashcans and glanced around for a better hiding spot.
The building wasn't too tall, his grappling hook would reach. Though the idea of grappling with his right shoulder injured sounded like hell.
He heard another gunshot in the distance.
In an instant, his grappel was in his hands, and he shot it up at the ledge of the building. He gripped the gun with his left hand, but wrapped his right around it for support. He bit his lip and closed his eyes tight and braced, then hit the retract button.
He couldn't quite hold back the whimper of pain, but he didn't cry out so he considered it a win. Climbing onto the roof was another kind of hell, but Bruce had trained him well and he made it. He laid there in a heap for a moment, just waiting for the waves of pain to receed.
But he couldn't stay here.
With a wince, he pushed himself up with his good hand and glanced over the side of the building. He didn't hear or see anything, so he had enough time to check on his injury, then he was going to find somewhere to lay low until Bruce could get to him with the batmobile and bring him home.
He twisted, trying to get a look at the back of his shoulder when he heard a gasp and the sound of something being dropped. From on top of the roof with him.
Jason grabbed a batarang with his left hand and fell into a defensive stance, turning to face the direction the noise came from. "Who's there?" he called, keeping his voice down so it wouldn't carry to the streets and his other pursuers.
No one responded.
Presumably, the person was hiding behind the roof access door or the HVAC system next to it. Jason took a cautious step towards the structures. "Come out." He waited a moment, took another step, and added, "Now."
The silence stretched a moment longer, then he heard someone shuffling and a kid stepped out from behind the roof access door. The kid was a couple years younger than Jason, maybe ten or eleven? And he was clutching an expensive-looking camera in his hands.
Jason lowered the batarang in surprise. "Who are you?" he asked.
The kid twisted the camera around in his hands. "I'm, uh. Tim. My name's Tim. Tim Drake."
"What are you doing out here at—" Jason glanced at his watch "—two thirty in the morning? Do you know how dangerous it is? Killer Croc was out!"
"Not anymore!" Tim grinned. "You took him down and it was so cool."
Jason's mouth fell open. "You saw that?"
Tim's eyes lit up. "I see everything."
Jason tensed again. Was someone paying this kid to spy? He brought the batarang up again. "Who're you working for?"
"No one!" protested Tim. "It's not like that. I just… You're so cool! When I'm home, I like to follow you on patrol to take pictures. I don't show anyone." When Jason didn't lower his weapon, the kid added, "I'm serious!"
Jason narrowed his eyes behind his domino and didn't let go of the batarang. "How often do you follow us?" He had more questions—Tim's statements were overwhelming—but Jason had to start somewhere.
Infuriatingly, Tim just shrugged and said, "Most nights on school breaks." He paused, then added with a sheepish smile, "I'm in boarding school out of the city, you see. Mom and Dad say I can't transfer to a school in the city until I'm fifteen and can be trusted to be the man of the house when my parents aren't home."
The kid's body language was open, and he projected honesty. But why was he telling Robin all this? He didn't let himself relax, even as his injured shoulder began to throb with the tension. He could feel the blood sticking his uniform to his back. It was going to be hell to take it off later. "You're, like, eight," he said, deliberately under selling the kid's age. Sure enough, he bristled in annoyance. "There's no way you can follow us on patrol without either Batman or me noticing you."
"I'm eleven. And I wasn't caught by Nightwing, either, and I started following him around when he was Robin."
Jason scoffed. "I don't believe you. If that's true, I wouldn't have been able to catch you tonight."
"It's because I saw!"
"Saw what?" demanded Jason. "Talk clearly!"
"Sorry. It's just— Your back."
"My back?" Jason finally looked away from Tim to glance at his back. Which is when he realized Killer Croc got him right next to his soulmark. It was on display for all of Gotham to see. His eyes widened in horror. "Shit!" He looked at Tim. "Please, please tell me you didn't take a picture. Delete it!"
"No!"
"You have to! I can't— if it gets out… They could be in danger." Jason dreamed of the day he'd met his soulmate. But he couldn't let the world know what Robin's soulmark was. What if someone else found his match before he did? They could be hurt and it'd be his fault.
Tim made a noise of frustration and reached behind his head. Jason brandished the batarang, debating throwing it. He could probably get the camera without hurting the kid.
Only…Tim didn't attack. All he did was pull off his shirt and turn around.
The batarang fell from numb fingers at Jason stared at his own soulmark on someone else's skin. A green star with a red trail shooting right across Tim's right shoulder. Just as it did on his.
"Please don't make me delete it," pleaded Tim in the smallest voice.
Jason closed the distance between them, too stunned to reply to Tim's unspoken question. With trembling fingers, he reached out and brushed Tim's mark. His fingertips tingled at the sensation and Jason didn't know if it was part of the magic of soulmates or just his own amazement.
Tim gasped and shuddered at the touch, and Jason pulled away instantly.
"Sorry, sorry. I should've—"
"It's okay. I don't mind." Tim smiled over his shoulder. Then, in a tone of utter wonderment, he added, "You're my soulmate."
Jason laughed in disbelief. He hadn't expected to meet his soulmate on a random roof in Gotham after getting beat on by Killer Croc. "Yeah. I guess I am. And you're mine." He couldn't help himself, he reached up to touch Tim's mark again, only to wince when he accidently used his right arm.
Tim's smile dimmed and his eyes widened. "You're hurt! Let me take a look." Before Jason could say anything, Tim was at his back, tracing the skin around the injury. "We should really clean this."
Jason made a point of looking around the rooftop. "I definitely see plenty of clean water up here."
"Don't be silly, Jason. I live close; we can go to my place."
Jason froze. "What did you call me?"
Tim's fingers stilled on his back. "Um. Er. Robin. I said Robin, of course."
"Don't play games with me, Tim."
Tim sighed. "I know who you are. Who all of you are. Well. Except Batgirl. I haven't figured her out yet."
"How?" Jason could tell his voice was strangled.
"Dick gave himself away. I saw him do a quadruple somersault. And I had gone to Haley's Circus with my parents when they were in town, I know the Flying Graysons were among the only ones in the world who could do that move. It just fit."
Jason shook his head in disbelief. His soulmate was insane, wasn't he? Brilliant and crazy and a bit of a stalker. He laughed. The universe really had picked the perfect person for him, hadn't it? "I'm being chased, remember? How will we get to your place without being spotted?"
Tim scrambled away. "That's easy!" he called over his shoulder as he ran back to the door. Jason followed him to find Tim kneeling next to a backpack that was stuffed to the brim. His soulmate tossed him a pair of basketball shorts. "These should fit you!"
Jason pulled them on over his uniform, and Tim was right. They were a bit snug around the waist, but not unwearably so. A moment later, Tim shoved a zip-up hoodie at him. While Jason worked to get dressed, Tim pulled his shirt back on as well. Jason got his left arm in the hoodie, but couldn't stretch his right enough to get it in. At least not without aggravating his injury.
He sighed and fished a sling out of his utility belt. "Help me zip it up over my arm. It'll be fine."
Tim did, then he stepped back and surveyed Jason. "Your uniform isn't visible, but I can't do anything about your boots. Oh, and your domino."
Jason frowned at the distinctive footwear but did remove his domino. Tim, apparently, knew who he was anyway. "Nothing else we can do. Now, how do we get to your place?"
Tim pointed his thumb at the door. "It's unlocked. We can cut down to the street, then I'm only three blocks away."
Jason nodded and took a step towards the door, then paused. He glanced around the roof. The place he'd met his soulmate. "Wanna take a picture of us both? Commemoration?"
Tim's face lit up. "Yes! Please!" He fiddled with the settings on his camera and glanced around with a frown. "I think I can put it on the air condensor." Tim knelt so he was at eye height with the top of one of the units, then turned to look at Jason. He frowned. "Take two steps closer to me."
Tim continued to give him instructions until he determined Jason was in the perfect position. The entire situation was amusing and Jason couldn't help the fondness growing inside him for his fussy match. He couldn't wait to see what other things Tim got picky about.
Tim pressed some buttons on the camera, then set it on the condensor. "Once I hit the button, the camera will delay five seconds, then take a series of ten pictures."
"Ten?" asked Jason. "Isn't that a lot?"
"Low light," explained Tim. "I want to get a few so that we're more likely to have at least one good one. Or I can merge them so they show up better. Ready?"
"Ready."
Tim pressed the button, then ran to Jason's side. Jason wrapped his left arm around him and pulled him close. Then got a brilliant idea. He held up bunny ears behind Tim's head.
Tim glanced up at him, nose scrunched in confusion just as the first picture was taken. Jason laughed and ruffled his hair. Tim's confusion turned to a glare, one that would have been surprisingly effective if Jason wasn't Robin and used to the worst Gotham had to offer.
Tim brushed his hand away and stuck out his tongue. Jason just grinned at him unrepentantly. The camera stopped it's series of pictures.
"You ruined them, Jason!" pouted Tim. "They're all going to be stupid now."
Jason rolled his eyes. "They're going to be fun. The best pictures I have of my mom are the ones where we're being silly."
Tim grabbed his camera and flipped through them, frowning. "But my parents say silly photos are a sign of immaturity. We have to take nice ones."
"I think we'll like these better, but fine. Set it up again, and I'll behave this time."
Tension leaked out of Tim's shoulders and he smiled at Jason. "Thank you." He set up the camera again, and ran to Jason's side.
This time, Jason wrapped his arm around Tim's shoulders and left it there as he smiled at the camera. It was way more boring, but the ten pictures only took a few seconds, so it was fine. This time, when Tim glanced through the pictures, he nodded in satisfaction.
"I want copies of the silly ones!" insisted Jason. A glint on the rooftop caught his eye, and he bent down to pick up the batarang he'd dropped. He slid it into the pocket of the hoodie so he could have at least one weapon readily available in case they were attacked on the way to Tim's place.
Tim gave him another confused look at his demand, but agreed easily enough. They made their way down to the street, Tim seeming quite comfortable running down the winding staircase of the random building they were on.
Jason had so many questions for his soulmate and the list was growing by the minute.
On the street, Jason kept his eyes peeled for his earlier pursuers. He kept his left hand curled around the batarang in the pocket of his borrowed hoodie. The streets were quiet, however. Diamond District didn't even have beggars hiding in doorways or alleys the way he was used to in Crime Alley.
Tim didn't seem to be concerned at all. He kept a step or two ahead of Jason, though he looked back every few steps as if to make sure he was still there. Every time their eyes met, the kid blushed and gave him a small smile.
He really was cute.
Much sooner than Jason expected, they were approaching a tall apartment building. The gold and marble facade felt like something from another world, not Gotham. But Tim pulled out a set of keys and pulled him into the building. Across a foyer as grand as Wayne Enterprise's, he saw a bank of elevators with bronze doors so recently polished he couldn't see so much as a single fingerprint. When Tim led him to them, Jason tried to protest. "I can take the stairs. It's my shoulder that's hurt, not my legs."
Tim just gave him a weird look. "Jason. I live on the twenty-fifth floor. We're taking the elevator."
Jason swallowed hard and glanced up at the floor numbers. The twenty-fifth floor was the top floor, the penthouse at a place this nice. Just how rich was Tim Drake?
The ride was silent. Jason kept glancing at Tim out of the corner of his eye, and he caught Tim doing the same. But now that they were finally alone, he realized he had no idea where to start a conversation. On top of that, his shoulder was really starting to ache. Killer Croc had a tendency to hang out in the sewers, Jason could only hope his claws were clean and the wound wouldn't get infected.
The doors opened without either of them saying anything.
At the end of the bank of elevators was a single door with a nameplate that read "Drake" in a fancy script on it. Tim unlocked it and held it open for Jason. "Home sweet home," he said.
Jason felt like he walked into a museum. Expensive-looking art decorated the walls and pedestals with small statues or ancient-looking pottery were placed between them. The couch looked like something from a show-room, not something that could be sat on.
Beyond that, it was large. He hadn't even realized apartments could be this big. It was open concept with the living room opening into the modern-looking kitchen.
Tim didn't seem concerned, just toed off his shoes and padded in. "Bathroom is this way so we can clean your shoulder."
"What about your parents?" asked Jason, keeping his voice quiet, even as he reached down to begin the process of removing his boots, so much harder to do mostly one handed.
"Oh, they're not home."
Jason looked up in alarm at how casually Tim said that. "Where are they? Who is home?"
Tim waved him off. "No one. I wouldn't have brought you here if it would put you at risk. My parents got a last minute invite to a dig in Türkiye and had to leave immediately. My new nanny can't get here until the day after tomorrow, but I'm responsible so it's fine."
"How long have you been home alone?" asked Jason.
"Not that long! And I'm not really home alone. My parents left two days ago, but not until the evening. And they asked Mrs. McIlvane, our housekeeper, to come in every day instead of twice a week, until the nanny gets here. She gets here around ten and doesn't leave until after five when she gives me dinner."
Jason frowned as he was finally able to pull off his boots; he'd known kids who'd been left alone for longer at younger due to their parents working. Hell, he'd been living on the streets at Tim's age. It just…felt wrong when the parents in question had a choice. Had money. Weren't dead.
Still, he let it drop as he followed Tim to the bathroom. Once there, he unzipped the hoodie and tried to take it off. Unfortunately, it'd been long enough that the blood from his injury had matted to the fabric. He couldn't hold back the hiss of pain.
"Let me help," said Tim who moved behind Jason to look. Stupid rich-person bathroom meant there was plenty of space for them to move.
"Wash your hands first," ordered Jason. "And use a wet washcloth or something to help loosen the blood." He glanced around the bathroom. "Do you have a stool I can sit on so you can see better?"
Tim nodded and pulled a carved wooden step stool from under the sink. It had Tim's name on it in colorful letters and under his name, a circus tent and performing animals. "It's still here from when I was too little to reach the counter and brush my teeth."
Jason bit back any comment about rich kids and sat on it while Tim washed his hands and grabbed some wash cloths. Tim did his best, but the process of getting the sweatshirt off was not a painless one. When it was done, he could feel something dripping down his back and could only hope it was mostly water.
With the sweatshirt gone, it was easy to undo the clasps of his uniform top so it hung loose around his waist.
"What now?" asked Tim.
"Do you have any large gauze pieces?"
"Uh, let me see." Tim opened the cabinet under the sink again and pulled out a basic first aid kit. The largest piece of guaze was a two inch by two inch square, no where near large enough.
"Grab a roll of paper towels," said Jason. The injury would have to be cleaned more thoroughly anyway, but Bruce could do that after injecting lidocaine into the area so Jason didn't have to feel it.
Jason pulled off quite a few and pressed them to his shoulder, hoping the pressure alone would stop the bleeding.
Then Tim used a few more to wipe off the rest of Jason's back that he couldn't reach. Every time the kid brushed their soulmark, Jason felt it tingle with warmth.
"Do you have to go now?" asked Tim once he was done.
Jason snorted. "If you think I'm leaving before I have a chance to see those pictures of us, you've lost your mind."
Tim's face lit up. "Yes! We should go to my room. They'll look so much better on the computer. Want a snack or something as we look at them?"
"What sort of rich-person snacks do you have here? Caviar?"
Tim's nose scrunched up. "Ew. I hate caviar. We've got cheese slices and crackers."
Of course, when they got to the kitchen, the fridge was full. Jason was relieved to see it was food easy for a kid to eat without having to do a lot of preparation. Tim grabbed the cheese—some stupid fancy brand, but at least it was presliced—and crackers from the cabinet. Then he was led to his match's bedroom.
The apartment had dozes of doors and Jason wondered what they could possibly need all of those rooms for, though he didn't ask. He'd be here again and he would snoop then.
At least Tim's room felt like it was actually lived in. The bed was left unmade. An old cup sitting on the nightstand. The desk was covered in papers and books, clothes were on the floor next to the hamper.
Tim beelined to the desk and piled up everything on it before dropping the lot on the floor next to his chair. "You can sit here. I'll grab my mom's desk chair and be right back."
Jason let him go and continued to take in the room. On Tim's nightstand, he saw a picture frame and went to look. Tim, maybe three or four, grinned at the camera from Dick's lap. Behind them stood Dick's parents.
Jason's jaw dropped. Tim had mentioned seeing them at the circus, but he hadn't realized Tim had met them. No wonder he remembered the quadruple sommersault. Tim returned dragging a desk chair larger than he was and Jason went to help, clearing the floor in his path.
Tim smiled his thanks, then booted up his computer while Jason settled in his own chair. It took only a minute or two for Tim to plug the camera in and pull up the pictures. Jason went back to pressing the papertowels against his injury, but he was pretty sure it had mostly stopped bleeding for the moment. It still throbbed, but Jason was able to shove it out of his mind.
The first few pictures were obviously the boring ones, but then he saw Tim sticking his tongue out at him while Jason laughed. He grinned at both the image and the memory. "I want that one," he demanded.
The other silly pictures were just as good. Then the blurry shot of his soulmark.
The next one back showed Jason grinning as he finished tying up Killer Croc. Jason's breath caught. He hadn't realized that Tim had taken pictures of the fight, though looking back he should have. The picture was clear and Jason and Croc were centered in it. He looked like a hero. Jason had no idea how Tim had gotten such a good shot.
"Want to see any of my others?" asked Tim. "I've got so many from this summer alone."
"Yes! Please. How'd you manage to sneak around without getting caught?"
"Oh, it's not hard. I wear dark clothes and keep to the shadows. I listen to the police radio to know when either you or Batman is on this side of Gotham, then I go out if I can sneak past my parents."
Jason laughed. "Of course you do. You're crazy. How haven't you been killed yet?"
Tim pouted. "I mean. I don't go out if, say, Joker is out. I'm not stupid."
"Praise be for small mercies!" exclaimed Jason. "Now show me these pictures."
Tim grinned at him and dove in, showing hundreds of pictures on just the one SD card. "There's more, of course. But I've got some good ones on this one, so we can start here."
Looking at the pictures was both fascinating and terrifying. Tim described how he'd climbed fire escapes or buildings to get the right angles. And while there weren't any pictures with the Joker or Scarecrow, there were some of Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy and those two could be quite dangerous on their own.
Still, the pictures themselves were amazing. His soulmate had a real talent for the art and Jason already knew he wanted copies of so many of them. They could put them on display in the cave somewhere.
Tim was talking animatedly about how he managed to get the next picture—one of Jason covered in soot holding a cat he'd rescued from an apartment fire and presenting her to the owners—when someone cleared their throat behind them.
Jason jumped in his chair and spun to see Bruce standing there with his arms crossed and mouth in a firm line underneath the edge of his cowl.
Tim squeaked next to him.
"What is going on here?" demanded Bruce.
"Mr. Batman!" exclaimed Tim. The kid jumped to his feet. "Wel—welcome to my home. Might I offer you some refreshments? We've got cheese and crackers here, but I also have a few flavors of juice or water or, um, sports drinks if you want anything more." When Bruce still didn't say anything, Tim added, "Or. My parents! They've got quite the alcohol collection. I could show you the wine options if you like that. We also have several harder alcohols if you'd prefer a whiskey, rum, or gin."
Jason couldn't help it, he burst out laughing. Both Tim and Bruce turned their attention to him.
"Robin," said Bruce, voice emotionless and hard.
Jason wrapped his good arm around Tim's waist and pulled him to his side. "Hey, B. Let me introduce you to my soulmate. This is Tim. He already knows who we are. Can we bring him home with us tonight?"
Jason wished Tim's camera was in easy reach because Bruce's look of utter shock should be preserved for the ages.

I wrote this as a treat for the Haunting Heroes Valentines Exchange! I had a lot of fun. I didn’t plan to write for it. But then, everyone’s excitement got to me and I couldn’t help it.
Ghost Robin i forgot about Ghost Robin how could I forget about Ghost Robin, my beloved? Ghost Robin Ghost Robin Ghost Robin.
(Grabs with teeth and shakes like a dog)
Glad I have the chance to remind people of my old fics! I still haven't read over part 1 to get this one on AO3, so that's probably most of the problem.

“They’re a bubbling green liquid. It’s less thick than the ectoplasm Danny’s showed me, but the same color. Gives of this weird smell like ozone, but almost cloying. When you get submerged in it, you’re filled with indescribable rage. It takes over your mind and leaves you focused on nothing but destruction. For most people, it fades in a few hours to days. For me, it’s stuck around for years.”
“Fascinating. I have not heard of such a thing within the realms. Would you be able to bring me a sample on your next visit?”
Jason shrugged. “Don’t see why not. How quickly will you need the sample?”
The yeti waved a paw in the air. “Oh, just at your convenience. I can start treatment without. I am just unfamiliar with these pits you describe and more information is always useful.”
“I think Danny is planning to do something about them, too.”
“The Great One takes his responsibilities very seriously, yes. He is a good king, better than most who have had his position.”
Jason’s ghost gave a trill, and the Yeti laughed.
“Indeed, little one. I can help both of you.”
“Yeah?” asked Jason, hope rising in his chest. “You can get rid of him?”
Jason didn’t have enough knowledge of yetis yet to understand the look Frostbite gave him, but his hope was dashed at the doctor’s words. “I am afraid that is not how this will work. He is part of you as you are part of him.”
“No he’s not!” Jason’s shout was nearly drowned out by the ghost’s angry chattering.
The yeti held up a hand. “Peace, both of you. Might I have a moment to explain?”
Jason frowned and crossed his arms. “Fine,” he grumbled looking down. The ghost made a similar sound, though Jason didn’t look at him to see if they shared body language, too.
I always want to know more about Want to Hold on and Feel Like I Belong.
Perfectly understandable that you would rework the last bit of the chapter. I like how in this snippet, Jason is their best insight into the ghostly side of things, even if they don't have the knowledge or ins9ght to fully realize what it is, or how significant either.
I feel really bad for Danny in this whole scenario though. My boy is feeling so betrayed.
Here you go! I'm so glad you like this one so much!
And yes! Jason is unintentionally giving them so much information. If only they knew enough to pick up on it 🤣
Danny is off being miserable alone. His whereabouts will be made clear after the climax! spoiler: he's safe

Everyone who could gathered up some of the items to carry to the cave. Once there, J’onn made his goodbyes and promised to forward on what information he knew.
Protocol for unknown drives meant that Dick had to grab a laptop that’d had it’s wifi capabilities forcibly removed. That way, if any malicious software hid on the drives, it couldn’t infect the Batcomputer or Barbara’s set up. They had a few laptops just for such a purpose, and Dick grabbed two before meeting Babs at a table. Tim and Duke took both cases of Lazarus water and one of the energy guns and set up at the lab area of the cave. Damian, Steph, and Jason, meanwhile, took their pile of weapons to the training area.
If Steph’s grin was anything to go by, they were going to have fun. Dick just hoped they didn’t end up hurting each other. Jason and Damian did not interact much by choice, league-taught instincts reared up more when they were together.
Alfred insisted Bruce return to the medbay and take some pain relievers and Clark followed him with the notebooks.
Barbara turned on the laptop and plugged in the first drive. “Ready to see what Danny was hiding from us?” she asked.
“So long as it helps us find him.”
“Here’s to hoping.”
The drive was encrypted, but it took less than ten minutes for Babs and Dick to break through.
First thing Barbara did once they were in was set all files to copy to the computer hard drive. While that was going on, she opened them from the drive itself. At the very least, the drive seemed to be well-organized with folders broken up by date. Though the folders were labeled with some variation of “Stolen from the White Assholes XXXX_XX_XX.”
Only two broke the trend: “Anti-Ecto Acts” and “Worst Week Ever DO NOT OPEN.” Barbara clicked the one labeled Anti-Ecto Acts. As much as Dick wanted to see the other one more, they needed background information.
The first entry was a document titled “Proof the Government Wants Danny Double Dead.” Underneath were more documents and folders that seemed to include information on how the acts were passed, who proposed the bill, who voted to pass it, and one folder simply labeled “The Fruitloop.”
Dick exchanged a look with Babs and took a breath. “Start from the top down, I suppose. We’ll get an idea what we’re dealing with.”
The document ended up being a PDF of a legal code regarding Ectoplasmic Entities. It had been marked up with notes and citations in four different text colors. The blue and purple texts seemed to be more informative, defining words and translating legalese. The orange left curses and explained what, exactly, could be done under this law.
The last color, green, had to be Danny. He commented the least, but left behind the odd pun or joking comment about death. The other three yelled at him multiple times for not taking it seriously.
It took Dick and Babs two and a half hours to get through the entire document and another thirty minutes to write their summary of it. The short version is that any sort of ectoplasmic entity was declared non-sentient and thus not covered by the Meta Protection acts. Somehow, Danny was one such entity. The Ghost Investigation Ward was created to enforce the acts.
“Did he really die before he ever came to us?” asked Dick when they were done.
“It certainly looks that way.” Babs grabbed his hand. “We’ll figure this out, Dick.”
“He was supposed to be normal. A meta, sure, but normal.”
“I know.”
Dick nodded and finally grabbed a second laptop. Babs would look into the second drive, and Dick would sort through more of the one they had started.
Can't pick between Bring Me Home and Want to Hold On and Feel That I Belong, so which ever one you want to share from/talk about most at this moment.
I have more ready for Want to Hold On and Feel I Belong, so we'll go with that one!
I will say, for Bring Me Home, the next two chapters are basically ready for posting to AO3. I've just been dragging my feet over it because the final scene of the final chapter needs to be reworked entirely and I just haven't had the motivation. Once I finish posting this year's bang fic, I'll get back to that one. (If not sooner.)
But onto Feel I Belong (alt title Bad Reveal AU). Quick summary for those who are new: Danny was adopted by Bruce as a civilian. None of them knew each others' secrets, though the bats did realize Danny was a meta and had a list of suspected powers. Danny found out they were the bats and thought they were spying on him for the government and confronted them. He ended up shooting Bruce with an ectoblaster and fled.
The Bats are now trying to figure out what they didn't know about Danny, learn why he acted that way, and try and track him down.
Note: I no longer care for the mistaken-for-a-god trope wrt Danny. So the first few paragraphs of this snippet are a reworking of the last paragraphs of the previous update to remove any mention of Danny being a god.

With clear reluctance, J’onn handed the picture back. “This is your brother in the photo?”
“Yeah. I mean, Danny usually has black hair and blue eyes, but that’s him. Do you recognize him?”
J’onn nodded. “Of course. He is the chosen of time and arrives only when time itself decides to intervene. We are taught of the attack he stopped in our histories.”
Dick’s mouth fell open. His little brother? The chosen of time? What did that mean?
Bruce shuffled over on his crutches to take the picture. “You are certain this is the same person?”
“The being in the picture is definitely the one spoken of in our histories.”
“Hn.” Bruce handed the picture back to Dick who carefully placed it back in the notebook.
Just how many secrets did his little brother have?
“Any assistance you require, I will give,” pledged J’onn. “Clark, has anything else been hidden?”
Clark visibly swallowed and he nodded. “Yeah. Yeah. Um, there’s some toolkits in the floor near the desk.”
J’onn nodded and retrieved them. The kits had obviously been assembled piecemeal and none of the tools matched, but he had as extensive a collection as any mechanic or handyman Dick had ever known.
“And there’s two lead-lined cases in the floor at the foot of the bed. And an extensive first-aid kit.”
Thanks to J’onn, all three were removed. The first aid kit could rival any of the ones in a bat safe house. The cases were locked, but Jason and Damian had them open in a matter of seconds revealing containers of glowing green Lazarus water.
One case was full of jars. About a third of them had been emptied and the next in line was half full. Dick’s stomach fell. How had he not noticed Danny was reliant on Lazarus water of all things?
The other was full of syringes also full of the stuff. Luckily none of these were empty. But why would anyone want to inject Lazarus water? Not even Ra’s did that as far as he knew.
“The League cannot know about Danny. He would not have been allowed to live free if he had access to this much Lazarus water,” said Damian.
“Hey, Damian,” said Tim. “Have you ever known Ra’s to inject Lazarus water? What would that even do?”
Damian’s brow furrowed. “I do no know. Grandfather never has as far as I know.”
“Does Danny have access to his own pit?” asked Dick.
“He must,” said Damian. “Though I do not know how.”
Jason spoke then. “Are we sure it’s Lazarus water? It’s similar, obviously. But Lazarus water always feels angry and violent. This stuff… It doesn’t give off any feelings. In fact, it’s almost as if it’s waiting for something. As if you could do anything with if if you just told it what you wanted.” He backed up a few feet as if afraid he’d do just that.
“I can run some tests,” offered Tim. “The energy weapon had a similarly colored beam. I can compare to the energy source of the gun and Lazarus water and this liquid.”
“I’ll go through the hard drives,” said Barbara.
“I’ll help Babs,” added Dick.
“I will go over the weapons,” said Damian.
“Not alone,” said Bruce.
“One of them’s a gun. That means I get dibs on the weapons,” said Jason.
“Dude, one is a tube of lipstick. I’m all over that,” said Steph. “Sides, there’s a ton of stuff there. It’ll take us a while to sort through it all and figure out how they work.”
Duke grinned. “Looks like I’m working on chemistry with Tim.”
Bruce nodded. “And I will go over the notebooks. The one I glanced at seemed to have quite a lot of information on adjustments Danny made to the weapons and inventions.”
“Want some help with that, Bruce?” asked Clark.
“Thank you, Clark.”
J’onn looked around the room. “If you’d like, I could compile a report on what I know of Danny’s exploits on Mars. I do not know how helpful it’d be—“
“We’d appreciate it, J’onn. Very much.”
J’onn nodded. “And if you find those who wish to hurt him…?”
“We’ll call you,” promised Dick. “You’ll be there when it’s taken care of, I promise.”
“Thank you. I would appreciate that.”
Bruce nodded. “Very well. Let’s return to the cave. I want twice daily updates on everyone’s discoveries.”
Oooh, yes! It's been ages since I've worked on this one, too.
Chapter 1 is on AO3. And Chapter 2 is fully written on Tumblr, but hasn't been edited and copied over to AO3. You can find Part 1 here.
I got stuck on chapter 3 because it's from Tucker's POV and I just don't have experience writing him and kept getting stuck on the transition scenes.
ANYWAY! What you probably care about.
This is one of my first fics for the crossover fandom. Danny has gone missing and the GIW have taken over Amity. Jazz is away at college at Harvard (her every move watched by agents). Sam is stuck at her parents' place in Amity, forced to go along with their wishes of her. Tucker is away at a boarding school designed to fast track students to the best computer and tech university programs in the country. (He got a scholarship, it's due to the GIW pulling some strings.)
Jazz gets a phone number she believes is Danny's and starts texting him, but he never responds. She still texts him religiously every single day.
Jason, meanwhile, is off on an Outlaw mission that lasts a few months. He comes home to find his phone filled with texts from an unknown number. He skims them to make sure it's not something important and immediately gets sucked in.
He and Tim reach back to Jazz and get involved in what's going on. Jason goes to meet Jazz in Boston while Tim goes to California to meet Tucker.
I've a more than passing familiarity with Boston, so I definitely leaned into that for Jazz's POV scenes because why not?
Drop (snippet) of Ghost!Robin, pretty, pretty please?
It's been so long! I went back and reread what I'd posted for arc two and did I really leave it there?? Damn!
Anyway, enjoy the next few hundred words ^.^
Quick summary for those coming in: Jason and Jazz decide to introduce each other to all their respective families at once at a dinner at Wayne Manor. As soon as he arrives, Danny sees the ghost of Robin haunting his sister's boyfriend. Reveals™️ happen over the course of the meal.
Arc two is Jason figuring out what to do now that he's haunted by the ghost of his teenage self and how they'll move past it.

Jason closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths. At least Frostbite wasn’t asking about how he’d died. “I— I don’t know,” he admitted honestly. “From what I’ve been told, I woke up in my coffin still in the ground about six months after I’d died. Somehow, and it should have been impossible, I dug myself out. I was found wandering the streets of my home, still with the injuries that killed me. I was brought to a hospital. My physical injuries were healed, but mentally I was a shell.
“I couldn’t, or wouldn’t, talk. Didn’t react to anything unless someone interacted with me first. I left the hospital. Or escaped it. Went back to wandering the streets for who knows how long until I was found by a…friend…of my— of Bruce’s.” At the unfamiliar name, Frostbite tilted his head and Jason tried to explain. “He was the man who’d adopted me as a kid. Before I died. It’s complicated now.”
“Understood, I apologize. Please continue.”
“Is this helping?” asked Jason. He didn’t want to talk about the pits if he didn’t have to.
“It is. It’s more evidence.”
Jason sighed and continued. “Fine. This friend of Bruce’s, Talia. She’s part of a weird death cult. Her dad is the leader. He controls access to these pools that he calls the Lazarus Pits. They’re known to revive those close to death or newly dead, but they kill the healthy. When my brain didn’t recover, even after months in her care, she dumped me in one.
“It brought me back to myself. Returned my mind to me, but with a side of uncontrollable rage.”
“Can you describe these ‘Lazarus Pits’ to me? What do you know of them and how they work?”
Rules: make a new post with the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous, and tag as many people as you have WIPs. Anyone can send an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and you post a snippet or tell them something about it!
Tagged by @valen-but-not-tine thank you!
I'm going to modify the rules. Mention if you'd prefer a snippet or details! I'll try and give what you request.
So. Uh. Huh. Let's just count things I'm planning on working on.

There's more things that are plotted, but those are the ones I am most anxious to get back to! Let me know if you want me to expand on any!
Going over some partially written fics that need to be finished/edited. And I absolutely love this exchange between Tim and Jason.
But Tim just waved him off. “I figured. I’ll let you get a few punches in, but nothing that’ll require emergency medical intervention or cause permanent damage. Okay?”
Something inside him relaxed and he wanted to smile. Instead, he forced himself to scowl. “Spoilsport.”
Tim laughed, the asshole, and Jason had to bite his cheek to keep from grinning back.

He should have trusted Bruce.
Jason is taking his final steps to seize control of the Gotham drug trade. The night is going exactly to plan when he's interrupted and it all starts to fall apart.

Excerpt under cut
B: N is in town. We can handle patrol tonight, stay home with your dad.
Tim frowns at the message from Bruce. This is the third time he's been told to stay home this week alone.
They are hiding something from him, aren't they.
Tim doesn't bother responding to Bruce; his silence will be proof enough of his annoyance. Instead, he pulls up Dick's contact.
T: B said you're in town?
D: Hey Timmy!
D: Yeah. Have a thing with Babs so I'll be around a few days
It is possible Dick and Babs are working on something together. But they usually tell him when they are, even if they don't need any help.
T: Anything I can help with?
D: Nah. It's a school night. Try and get some sleep for once
T: …
T: Is that *the* Dick Grayson advocating for a healthy sleep schedule?
T: Do I need to have B check you for possession?
D: Ha. Ha. very funny
D: Why don't I pick you up from school tomorrow?
D: We could go out for ice cream
And that is why Dick will always be his favorite. Much better distraction than anything Bruce offered. Tim replies with a string of thumbs up and ice cream emojis, then slides his phone back into his pocket. He glances at the door to his bedroom. Last he'd seen, his father had laid down for a nap and isn't likely to be up for a while yet.
Time to find out what everyone is hiding from him.
Tim pulls out his laptop, and remote accesses the batcomputer. His official profile logs his history so Bruce can see everything he does, but several months ago, he finally managed to make a second profile that no one else knows about. He doesn't use it often nor can he use it to change anything, that would be a great way to get caught, but situations like this are exactly why he'd decided he needed it.
Of course, there is one valid reason for Bruce and Dick to hide things from him. So before accessing any files, he opens the video feed for a specific cell at Arkham. One that is always on and can be viewed by any bat at any time.
The Joker sits in a chair in a straight jacket. His head is thrown back in his characteristic laugh and Tim is grateful that the feed does not include audio. Tim carefully examines the feed for any sign of tampering. But the footage isn't looped and it doesn't have an overlay. Everything he thinks to check shows that it's the current live feed of the Joker.
While he's examining the footage, two staff members and a guard enter. Tim checks their credentials and confirms they are on the schedule for today as they give Joker an injection.
Only once he is absolutely certain the Joker is still securely locked up in Arkham does he close the feed with shaking hands. Bruce, Dick, and Barbara are hiding something from him and it doesn't have to do with the Joker.
Time to look into recent case files.
Tim sorts the files by date, most recent first, then filters out any he didn't write. He opens the first one he knows nothing about.
A rogue Tim doesn't recognize wearing a leather jacket and red, full-face helmet stares back at him. A new rogue? But why wouldn't Bruce and Dick just tell him about it? He scrolls down to see the write up.
The new player has taken on the moniker Red Hood. See Joker.
Tim doesn't click the link. He'd recognize his Papa's names anywhere, all of them. His smile grows wider and wider.
Morning reblog with additional thoughts I was too tired to add last night!
I wrote my first Joker Junior fic! It's only briefly mentioned in fic, but Tim's first time alone in Gotham when the Joker breaks out went a lot differently than it did in the comics. Tim didn't manage to outsmart the Joker with just Alfred for help, instead he got captured.
He recovers with Dick's and Bruce's help and continues to be Robin.
But he's not allowed near any case that might involve the Joker, a restriction he's more than happy to obey.
Jason, meanwhile, is planning his whole confrontation with Bruce in Under the Red Hood.
Jason and Tim basically trigger each other just by existing. Jason is taking on the name of the man who killed him. Tim needs to avoid the Joker or suffer a relapse.
Trying to figure out how they navigate their various traumas to get to a point where they can coexist was so much fun.
Meanwhile. Dick is having the worst week of his life.
(None of them are talking to Bruce about anything.)
