Pursuing Peaches when she's only interested in Mario has repeatedly gotten him nowhere. It's long past time he should've been considering other options. Bowser's known that for a while now. And by some luck of the stars, Luigi ends up in his clutches. A relationship with Greenie will get him the pretty much the same thing he'd sought most from Peaches all along: new trading partners, and a bridge to peace with the other kingdoms.
