pairing β§Β° jungwon x reader
synopsis β§Β° You start receiving anonymous playlists from someone who seems to know you a little too well. Every song somehow matches your mood, every lyric feels strangely personal, and every playlist seems to say the things you've always been too shy to say out loud.
You don't know who they are. But maybe you've already met them.
contains β§Β° secret admirer ; slow burn ; fluff ; romance ; a little angst
notes β§Β° Just a little story about music, quiet feelings, and someone who doesn't know how to say βI like youβ without putting it into a playlist. π₯Ήπ§ I really hope you enjoy this one and maybe fall in love with the story a little too. β‘

It started with a notification.
You were lying in bed, half-asleep, when your phone buzzed beside you. You lazily reached for it, expecting a message from one of your friends, but instead, a notification from your music app appeared on your screen.
New playlist shared with you.
You frowned.
The account was completely unfamiliar. No profile picture, no recognizable usernameβjust a playlist titled for you.
Curiosity got the better of you.
When you opened it, there was only one song.
You stared at the title for a moment before realizing you knew it. It was a song you'd been listening to almost every night lately, especially when you couldn't sleep.
"That's weird."
You told yourself it was probably a coincidence and put your phone down.
The next morning, another notification appeared.
New playlist shared with you.
This time, there were three songs.
You knew all of them.
They were the songs you played whenever you were having a bad day, the ones you listened to when you wanted to be alone. You stared at the screen, suddenly feeling a little less amused.
Whoever was making these playlists knew your taste a little too well.
Then you noticed the description.
I hope today is a little kinder to you.
You read it twice.
A small smile tugged at your lips before you could stop it.
You didn't know who this person was, or why they were sending you songs.
But somehow, they knew exactly what you needed to hear.

The playlists kept coming.
At first, they appeared every few days. Then they became almost routine. You would wake up to a new playlist, listen to it on your way to school, and spend the rest of the day wondering who could possibly be behind it.
You started recognizing a pattern.
The songs always seemed to match whatever you were feeling.
After a particularly exhausting day, a playlist titled breathe appeared. On the day you passed an exam you'd been worried about, another one appeared with the title told you so.
You began looking forward to them.
Maybe that was the embarrassing part.
You didn't even know this person, yet their playlists had somehow become part of your daily routine.
One afternoon, another playlist appeared.
This one only had two songs.
The first was about falling for someone. The second was about being too afraid to confess.
You stared at the screen, your cheeks slowly warming.
Then you noticed the title.
for when you're ready.
Your heart skipped.
Without thinking, you opened the chat connected to the account.
you: who are you?
You waited.
Nothing.
A few minutes passed before your phone finally buzzed.
anonymous: someone you already know.
You stared at the message.
Someone you already knew.
Your mind immediately started going through every possibility.
Then your eyes drifted across the classroom.
Jungwon was sitting a few seats away, quietly talking to one of his friends. He laughed at something they said, his eyes crinkling slightly as he smiled.
As if he could feel you staring, he looked up.
Your eyes met.
Jungwon smiled.
You immediately looked back down at your phone.
Your heart was beating a little too fast.
No way.

You tried not to think about it.
You really did.
But after that day, every little thing Jungwon did seemed suspicious. The way he always seemed to know when you were having a bad day. The way he would sometimes recommend a song without you asking. The way he had once mentioned a song you had only ever listened to alone.
Still, you couldn't convince yourself.
Until one morning, another playlist appeared.
You opened it immediately.
There was only one song.
And one message.
last one.
Your chest tightened.
You pressed play.
The song was soft and familiar.
You had heard Jungwon humming it before.
You slowly looked up from your phone.
Across the classroom, Jungwon was already looking at you.
For a moment, neither of you moved.
Then your phone buzzed.
anonymous: look behind you.
You turned around.
Jungwon was standing right behind you.
His phone was in his hand, and on the screen was the exact same playlist.
He gave you a nervous smile. "I guess you figured it out."
You stared at him, still trying to process it. "It was you?"
He nodded, his fingers nervously playing with the edge of his phone. "I didn't know how to tell you."
A small laugh escaped you. "So you made playlists?"
Jungwon looked down, embarrassed. "I thought it would be less embarrassing than actually saying it."
You smiled.
"You're the reason I've been getting random songs for weeks?"
"Yeah."
"And all those messages?"
He nodded again.
You looked down at the final song playing on your phone before meeting his eyes. "What's this one for?"
Jungwon smiled, this time a little more confidently. "The last song?"
He held out his hand.
"It's for when you finally realize I like you."
You laughed softly, slipping your hand into his. "And what if I already realized?"
Jungwon's smile widened.
"Then I guess we can listen to it together."
The song continued playing quietly between you.
And for once, you didn't need an anonymous playlist to tell you how he felt.
You already knew. π€
