Villikos and a True Claimant

The final fate of any ruler that tries to claim the legacy of Villikos is that of a True Claimant. An empty husk without a throne, they lead the legions of the First Claimant in endless campaigns of conquest. They're walking mockeries of what they once were, lower than even the commoners they once scorned.

Two additional icons created for the personal modding project, where Villikos emerges from his tomb to take over the world.

The path of history has shifted; this world has been claimed. Your rulers are usurpers, your nations false. Lay down your rebellious banners and bow, for Villikos is imminent.

Art done for another Shadows of Forbidden Gods mod project. Villikos seeps into worlds with intent to conquer, draped in the flags of fallen nations. He warps the minds of the power-hungry and ambitious, convincing them that they are from a forgotten dynasty meant to rule over the coming empire.

WIP art for another eldritch god concept. The current name I have is Villikos, the First Claimant.

They're inspired by the King in Yellow short stories, specifically the Repairer of Reputations, where one of the characters believes he's part of some long-forgotten royal dynasty that was meant to rule America.

I like to imagine that Villikos is drawn to the power-hungry and ambitious; a being that morphs their minds until they're convinced that they must forge an empire under its name.
