What do I love about Heated Rivalry (TV Show):
In no particular order:
How much of the dialogue and action is lifted straight from the page.
when it is NOT lifted straight from the page, it is improved upon.
Every single actor is gorgeous but in a totally normal way. Like, Connor Storrie's crooked bottom teeth and Hudson's shoulder scar and stretch marks and Elena's tooth gap. And they're all the hottest people in your workplace/neighborhood/school without being unrealistic (at least on the show. Connor and Hudson look like fucking angels in their photoshoots these days).
The brilliant fucking parallel storytelling: from dark hotel rooms to sunshine streaming through an entirely glass cabin, from "You are having panic attack" to "you are so brave" and "we are good here. your family is here. your boyfriend is here."
The inclusion of trans and POC actors, even beyond what's included in the book, which already did pretty damn good, IMO.
The editing.
The fucking MUSIC choices.
The montages.
The juxtaposition of montages vs. the long cuts, both of which create intimacy in different ways.
The brilliant use of music, both score and songs.
Ilya's 7,000 bisexual lamps because We Don't Use the Big Light.
How the fuck they managed to age two 25-year-old men from 17 to 26 in 34 days through hair, makeup and clothing.
