"My tech shows that the bomb has just over two minutes til' detonation. Does everyone have their hostages?" You heard Babs ask through the comms.
Steph: "I've got mine."
Tim: "Robin, Y/v/n & I have ours."
You smiled reassuringly at the little blonde boy you had rescued. He said he was with his little sister. Although she wasn't with any of you you were sure someone else on the team had her.
"It's okay sweetie I'm sure one of our friends has her. Don't worry." You ruffled his hair causing him to smile.
"Just made it, but Red Hood is still in there!" You heard Duke inform.
Your eyes widened in fear. You turned back towards the building all of you had just escaped.
They knew what you were thinking.
Tim walked towards you and whispered so only you could hear him.
"Y/n I'm sure Jason's fine." He reassured you while placing his hand on your shoulder.
But your heart rate picked up as you heard Babs, "Red Hood we need a status update."
"Almost--"
Jason.
You shook your heard.
"No. I can't-I can't lose him again." You look at Tim and Damian before taking off.
"Y/v/n!" Damian yelled.
"Dammit!"
"Babs send me his location, I'm gonna find him!" You huffed.
The adrenaline flowed through your body as you ran up the stairs and into the building. Any gadget in your belt wouldn't stand a chance against your speed.
Barbara would have protested but seeing as your location on her screen quickly moved into the building she didn't hesitate.
"On it Y/v/n!"
"FIFTY SECONDS." Barbara informed Jason simultaneously.
Meanwhile Jason was trying to get his hostage, a little blonde girl to come with him.
"Please be okay. Please I can’t lose you again." You thought as you started panting.
"THIRTY SECONDS."
You screamed in frustration and ran even faster as you saw Jason's location on your watch
"TEN SECONDS! RED HOOD, WHAT'S YOUR STATUS?"
"Y/N seek cover NOW."
"NO Babs. I'm not resting until I find him!"
"You don't have to be scared anymore. We can find your mom, dad and sister together. I promise." Jason finally managed to get through the little girl.
He sighed in relief as she grabbed his hand. He wasted no time in taking it and pulling her close to him. The bomb went off but Jason barely felt it as he hid behind a pillar and crouched down.
Smoke and a few flames engulfed the room but they were okay.
"RED HOOD, STATUS! DO YOU READ ME?"
Silence.
"COME IN, RED HOOD!"
"ARE YOU THERE?"
Nothing.
"JASON!"
"Copy that. I've got her."
Barbara sighed in relief before realizing........
You were still there too.
"Jason is Y/n with you?!"
"What? No! Why would-" He stopped himself before it hit him.
You went back for him.
"No......don't tell me." Babs could hear the pain in Jason's voice.
"Y/n come in!" Babs exclaimed.
"It's okay. I'm here." You replied coughing a bit. Your ears were still ringing a bit from the blast. Your suit was dirty and completely covered in ash.
The entire team sighed in relief. They felt an enormous weight off their shoulders. It felt like they could breathe again.
"Love really makes people do stupid things." Damian sighed.
Jason turned around and there you were. Standing in all your glory, right across from him.
He gently placed the little girl down next to him. But she didn't realize because she was too busy playing with his helmet.
He sighed in relief before running up to you. You ran to him too but he caught up with you in an instant. Jason picked you up and embraced you tightly.
"I thought I lost you, again." Your voice cracked as a few tears slid down your face.
Jason shook his head, "And I thought I lost you."
He placed kisses all over your ash covered face.
"You shouldn't have done that Y/n. You know we're not supposed to go back." He wasn't scolding you. You could tell just how frightened he was.
"I know Jay but I just-I couldn't lose you. God, not again. I could actually do something about it. Last time I couldn't. So I had to try." You cried.
That was it. That's what Jason was worried about. You kept blaming yourself for his death. You still couldn't forgive yourself.
"Sweetheart you have to understand. It wasn't your fault. I thought we talked about it." He wiped your tears away with his gloved hands.
"I know, we did. I just can't forgive myself Jay. I don't know why."
He pulled you into his chest and rubbed circles on your back.
"We'll talk about it when we get home. I'm just glad you're okay. You have no idea how scared I was when Barbara asked if you were with me."
"I'm sorry Jay." You sighed.
"It's okay doll. We're okay. I love you." He said staring into your eyes.
"I love you too."
A giggle caused you and Jason to look up. It was the hostage he had rescued. She was trying to place his helmet over her head.
"I'm gonna need that back." He said.
You chuckled before looking at him again.
"You know I could see something like this playing out in the near future."
Jason raised his eyebrows before giving you a small smirk.
"Oh really? Maybe we can get a head start later?"
You smacked his arm playfully as you laughed.
"In a few years love. We've still got plenty of time."
He groaned before kissing your cheek and placing his arm around your shoulder, "As you wish princess."
