Me iré y no sabré volver.

Who says you can’t have your house and eat it too?
Behold the beautiful barrel amphipod, Phronima sedentaria, the newest addition to Into the Deep/En Lo Profundo.
These crafty crustaceans cruise around the water column in the carved-out carcasses of gelatinous animals called salps. The salp “barrel” provides not only shelter, but also food for these dainty drifters and their young. Look closely and you’ll see several hatchlings on the inside feasting on the salp’s tissues!
