5. Eclipse
When the sun and the moon became one, the sky turned red.
The entire kingdom of Kalon grew quiet, no children playing in the streets in sight and nothing and no one moved a muscle.
Instead, in the castle, the screams and the yells of pain and anguish from the high mighty Queen herself was heard as it bounced off every hallway and seeped into every little crevice for the walls to remember this moment forever. Wet nurses and doctors scrambled in and out of the birthing room but one man stood off to the side facing the corner, refusing to see the tears and the madness swimming in the eyes of his beloved.
âBin,â she called. âRobin.â
Despite the signal for need of comfort from his wife, Robin continued to stay frozen at his spot and remained there even as the birth was starting.
âCurse you!â Selene shouted, followed by a high-pitch scream that caused all the glass in their part of the castle to break.Â
All metallic objects rose from their spots and shook as the Merakian princess spouted nonsensical spells that would lessen the pain but it served no purpose as the child fought its way out. The nurses and the 3 doctors paled at the amount of blood the human witch was letting out and they chewed more on the bay leaf to hopefully distract the smell and their thirst for the liquid.
âRestimio! Firello! Suriani!â She shrieked and sobbed, eventually blubbering into distorted noises. However, she uttered the only recognizable word.
A name.
âBin,â she yelled. But Bin placed a hand around his mouth and nose, partially because of the blood but because of the staggering and irregular breaths he let out.Â
Tears fell down his high cheekbones and his hands shook, finally recognizing what he has done and the pain that overcame his body.
The millisecond moment of the sun kissing the moon, the screaming stopped.
Robinâs eyes widened as he finally turned around but he will forever regret that memory for as long as he lived.
Laying on the bed, his beloved Queen Selene, princess of Meraki, was lifeless on the Egyptian cloth with her eyes still open, only for it to look empty and dull. The smile he used to see first thing in the morning became the last thing he remembers from her. The olive skin from her childhood near Cyprus lost its brightness, replaced by a pale and flushed tone. And the aura she emitted that once filled the room with warmth and comfort, vanished as if it never existed at all.
âSelene,â he mumbled from his spot. Then his legs moved on its own and rushed to her side with his hand clutching her cold ones. âLove? Selene?!â
The royal doctor held the child, not screaming or making a fuss, red eyes flitting around the room as it has no idea of what just happened.
The loss of a mother.
âSelene?!â He yelled while the nurses and doctors either turned around and looked down to the floor, refusing to look at their King break and fall apart.
The King that led many victories against Orenda, in turn lost the battle against Death and his wife.
âLove, we talked about this,â he mumbled with a manic smile but pained eyes. âDarling, I canât turn you if your heart stops beating. Come on, Selene. I know youâre strong enough to make that lovely heart beat for me again, arenât you?â
But he knew she was gone. His words would never reach her again and he hung his head low, droplets of tears staining the maroon carpet.
âYour Majesty, the babe is a little girl,â said the royal doctor in hopes of seeing the King light up at the mention of his child.
But instead, Bin clenched his hands into a fist and he whipped his head around, frightening the nurses at the hateful glare he sent to his daughter.
âTake that away. Get that bloody thing away from here.â
You closed your eyes to prevent yourself from bursting into tears as you knew you shouldnât have killed Jun but you still did. Overcome with the anger and betrayal, your mind completely blanked and before you know it, he was screaming with pain and agony as the fire danced on his skin then proceeded to eat him alive.
The screams and the shouts echoed in your mind as it reminded you of the same thing from way far back into your memory.
A woman.
Donghyuck placed a cup of tea mixed with tonic on the table in front of you, snapping you awake from your daydream.
âHm, was it too much for you to handle?â He asked, not meaning for it to sound condescending.
You shook your head slightly and picked up the delicate cup, âNo matter how many times Iâve killed, the pained screams will never be an accepted sound to my ears.â
He watched you in curiosity, deciding if he should just ask you or not. âBut your reputation makes it sound like youâre a kill-hungry beast, princess.â
âDonât listen to rumors, Donghyuck, shouldnât you know that?â You snapped. âBesides, I never take a life unless it is deserving. You might be surprised but I am quite merciful.â
âOh? The pillars of mercy are principles that are familiar to you? Hm, thatâs interesting.â He commented before sipping his tea.
But yours remained untouched. âIâm merciful because Iâm a princess. But Iâm also cruel because Iâm a Queen.â
âIf it were me, I wouldâve given him to be feasted on by the guards,â he mused. âInstead of just setting fire to him, you wanted him to bathed in holy water first. Not letting him go to Hell sounds quite too merciful, donât you think?â
Cold eyes glaring into the amused smirk of the prince, you twitched. âWhat are you implying, prince?â
âIâm just simply curious, darling. â He placed the cup down and laced his fingers on top of the glass table. âThe holy water burned away all of his sins but you wanted him to burn later for his crimes as a traitor? It sounds conflicting however way you put it, love.â
âNothing is more painful than a walking sin being washed with the water blessed by the Church. No fire is strong enough to truly burn away all traces of him,â you replied coldly, gritting your teeth.
âCome on, love. Iâm a prince who loves to torture criminals! So I know that the holy water rid him of his sins so he could rightfully walk through the gates of Heaven, am I wrong?â The boy smirked as he watched you squirm slightly in your seat. âSo, say that it is just because you are indeed merciful?â He paused to gauge your reaction. âOr is it because heâs of Merakian blood?âÂ
There it was.
The reaction he expected from you showed with your eyes clearly narrowing on him and you chuckling humorlessly before running your tongue under your front teeth, showcasing your fangs.
âMerakian or not, death is given to those who are deserving of it, Donghyuck. Rather than spending your time feeding into your obsession with torture, maybe you should bust out the books and read up on the punishments for traitors that a real prince shouldâve memorized.â Your reply obviously had an effect on him as the smirk melted away and his gaze turned hard.
âYou know, I wanted to go easy on you since youâre a wife of one of my best mates. But I canât help but notice the smell of you,â he cocked his head to the side. âWhy is it you smell sweet? Vampires donât smell like anything since the blood that runs through our veins isnât actually ours. But yours, it smells sickly sweet. Like peaches.â
Knowing that Donghyuck was smart even though he acted foolish sometimes, you didnât think he would actually catch on. Looking up from your lap with a slight smile, you asked, âDidnât my spell work on you, prince?â
Donghyuck grinned as his suspicions were confirmed. âYou mightâve fooled everyone including Jaemin and my brother, but Iâve never been an easy one to enchant. You see, Y/N, I actually do study, so I know how to reject your spells. The moment we met, I felt that tingle and I knew then, what you were, you little half-ling. When you called for my help to get rid of Jun, I initially wanted no part of your affairs. But I knew this would confirm everything.â
âAre you going to tell Jaemin, Donghyuck?â You looked at him plainly, as if unbothered by this news. And it irked Donghyuck to no end.
âWhy do you look so lax? You think I wonât?â He snapped but you remained calm and collected.
Your grin took him aback and you relished every moment of surprise from him. âI know you will. But heâs not going to believe you. Iâm his Queen and youâre nothing but a little pebble in our world. So go ahead and tell him. But I canât guarantee what will happen to you once you do, though. Because like you, I have friends that are in need of a new toy.â
Now, you were surprised. Instead of an angry or even a scared expression, he cracked into a smile and a laugh. âOh, princess. I must say, I thought you were an actually weak little girl. But you got guts, I like that.â
Amused, you placed your chin on your hand. âBut I havenât done anything, though?â You asked innocently.
âI see it in your eyes.â
The smell of the market wafted into your nose and you let out a hungry growl at the delicious looking blood pudding that was showcased in front of a store. Immediately, you fast-paced straight to it and you entered, the small chime from the bell on the door signaling your arrival.
As your fingers neared the small cup, your phone rang. An irritated sigh escaped you and you swiped it to answer.
âWhat is it?â You answered, knowing exactly who it was.
âOi, donât talk to me like that!â Jaemin tutted but you werenât listening as you were too busy grabbing the cups. âDid you arrive safely?â
âOf course. I wouldnât be talking to you right now, wouldnât I?âÂ
Jaemin paced in his study and Jeno could tell from his grumpy look that you werenât exactly being nice.Â
âI just wanted to check in with you. Making sure youâre still alive and all since weâd prepare to war if you were suddenly dead. You know how impulsive your little kingdom is.â Jeno face-palmed at his best friendâs dumb answer.
âItâs not hard to say youâre worried, Jaems.â The mumble wasnât loud but enough to be heard.
A faint familiar voice in his end made you perk up as you were placing about 10 cups in your basket. âOh? Is that Jeno? Hello, darling!â
Your loud voice was heard by the said-boy and he laughed at Jaeminâs annoyed expression as he held the phone tightly. âYah, canât you greet your husband like that? Do you need me to clarify this for you? IâM NA JAEMIN. YOUR HUSBAND, Kalonian.â
Pulling a face at the horrid nickname, you paused and placed the basket down to put it on your hip. âWhy are you being like this, Na Jaemin? I am allowed to greet anyone however I like! Besides, Jeno helped me arrange the flowers in the garden last Tuesday since somebody was too busy playing with a stick! So of course he deserves a nice acknowledgement!â
Looking at his best friend, Jaemin looked betrayed as they were supposed to have sword practice that afternoon but Jeno bailed out last minute. âSo it was you who took my best friend! Oi, heâs already taken! Find another!â
âI already have! If you get Jeno, I get the other twin! Donghyuck is mine!â You childishly fired back.
The people in the store looked at the woman with a hood on and sunglasses with weird expressions as she stomped on the floor.
âYah! No one is yours! Only I am yours! You hear me?! Not Jeno, Not Donghyuck, Me!â Jaemin shouted and he angrily walked out of the study to go outside so he could freely yell at you more.
Jeno stared at the oak wood door before returning to his flower crown, fingers intricately weaving and sighing deeply. âThank you for your arrival, Y/N because I honestly donât know how much I could take from that dumbass anymore.â

4. Fool
Thousands of years ago, many kingdoms were scattered around the world.Â
Civilizations from the Egyptians to the Mesopotamians, everyone lived in their respective territories without any concern. However, war usually broke out among these human kingdoms and sometimes, found victory to be too far away so they enlisted the help of the Underworld.
This world remained hidden from plain sight with the use of magic and they couldnât risk the revelation of these curious little humans. From faes to werewolves and vampires to witches, the supernatural beings of the unknown world were trying to be safe.Â
However, as the great Pharaoh Khufu neared his deathbed, his doctors gained information about ways to preserve his life and his legacy. The Great Pyramid of Giza was only made possible by the help of the witches from the Kingdom Meraki. Khufu exchanged his soul for the creation of his pyramid, including spells and enchantments specifically to keep out unwanted visitors and robbers. Due to Merakiâs reputation of being the artistic and architectural kingdom, the pyramid remained intact for thousands of years.
This agreement between the Merakis and the Egyptians formed the first alliance of the Human and the Underworld. Egypt became a superpower during its time.
But of course, there comes a time where everything will eventually fall apart, no matter what spells or enchantments were placed to preserve the pact.
An arranged marriage between an Egyptian prince and a Meraki princess was supposed to strengthen the alliance but with the news of the death of the princess crushed that hope. Furthermore, the prince was accused with killing the girl as he was thought to experiment and research their kind and what made them so different.
With anger from the betrayal of the humans, Meraki, along with their Underworld kingdom allies, snarled at the Egyptians and the rest of the Other World, developing a deep hatred as one of their kind was killed by the hands of a human.Â
The High Meraki King, Suleimon, was driven mad with the death of his daughter and forever cursed Egypt, never letting them be a stable kingdom for as long as they stand.
A crime in one of the Kingdoms was a crime to all of the Underworld.
..
Although youâve never been good at planning, this auction seemed to be taking a lot of your energy. With the stress of it and combined with the sudden intense thirst for blood made it hard for you to even focus at all. Inviting Jisung for a midnight hunt in Australia, you both satisfied your hunger from this town called Riverun, disguising the mangled corpses as murdered bodies.
Jaemin noticed your skittish and different behavior and-he couldnât believe it himself-was slightly worried.Â
He often found you slumped over your desk in your office or already passed out on the bed by the time he got home from hanging out with the others. It was known that vampires donât get physically tired but they were most vulnerable and capable to breaking down under mental exhaustion.Â
Holding a glass of pigâs blood and walking towards the familiar gold door on the right, he casually walked in without bothering to knock.
âWhat is it, Orendian?â You didnât even look up as you knew who it was based on the scent he carried.
Peaches and Chocolate.
âVisited Mother and Father today. It wasnât a pleasant appearance but they have grown to live with it. After all, the fate of their country rests on my hands. Itâs best if they donât anger me otherwise,â he answered.
A sigh escaped your lips and you massaged your temple with your right hand. âWhat do you really want, Na Jaemin? Because I know for sure youâre not just here for small talk.â
Placing down the glass on the coffee table in front of the fireplace, Jaemin leaned against the wall and crossed his arms before speaking. âI have grown worried about your health, Kalon spawn. This auction is not as big of a deal as it is. You being too exhausted to even speak to the press with me, or even being too tired to make love to me at night, has caused quite a concern.â
Finally looking up and peering at him through your circle glasses, you sent him a glare and growled. âYouâre nothing but a face to the kingdom and a horny little shit. Iâd hate to kill you before you could even wear that ridiculous green crown of yours.â Your fingers went up to slowly take off your rims and held it for a second before sending him a sickly sweet smile. âSo if you could, the door is right there. I canât be bothered to show you out.âÂ
It seems that little comment angered him as he marched up to you and roughly placed his hands on the oak table. His red eyes glared into your own and he slightly bared his fangs.Â
âDo not speak to me like that, you dirty blood spawn.â
âThen donât treat me as if Iâm just a toy that you can play with and take with you wherever you want. Iâm a woman, Na Jaemin. So treat me like one.â
Days after your spat, you havenât exactly spoken any words to him as you were usually asleep when he arrived or he was asleep when you climbed on the bed. This time, it was the same thing. Except today, he wore nothing so you were able to see his bare chest. Propping yourself on your elbow, you laid on your side and examined every little eyelash as you couldnât fall asleep. It wandered down to his ridiculously perfect nose, to his cupidâs bow, and to his plump lips that looked a little dry from the gusts of wind that came in through the small window.
If he wasnât such a dick and a bitch, he wouldâve looked handsome to your eyes. But the way he has treated you has made it nearly impossible for you to be able to see him as nothing but a little shit.
Eventually wandering down to his neck and Adamâs apple, you noticed about a dozen green lines that looked really familiar to you. Seeing the faint lines trailing farther, you clenched your jaw in anger and fury.
You may hate his guts but you werenât able to let him be killed by someone else.
You will be the one to do so.
After a particularly late night with just hanging up on the phone with Donghyuck, you entered the bedroom with Jaemin sipping his nightly tea and Jun bowing towards you before starting to the door. Smelling a particularly strong smell, you almost stumbled walking towards the bed and your eyes widened, immediately recognizing it.
With a quick flick, the delicate China cup fell from his hands and the contents of it spilled below on the beige carpet. Jaemin looked at you irritably and just looked at you with a slightly glare and furrowed eyebrows.
âWhat the fuck?â he drawled out. Your eyes flickered from the wet stain to his eyes and you scoffed.
âAre you a prince or not? More, a vampire prince? You idiotic excuse of royalty! How could you regard the cup was practically filled with poison! Whatâs more, fucking holy water!â You shrieked and Jaeminâs face shifted.
At first, he was shocked and completely confused but now, he was more than angry. He was murderous and livid.
âWhat did you just say?â An angry whisper pushed itself from his mouth and you grabbed his chin and pushed it up, making the view of his neck more visible.
âI noticed these green lines a few nights ago. I didnât think much of it but Iâm pretty sure what this is from. Someone has been poisoning you, Jaemin. I can smell that holy water and they mustâve used it to brew your tea.â
The only logical reasoning made you look up at him, teeth biting at your bottom lip. âThe only thing I can think of is Jun-â
âJun would never betray me like this. Heâs been with me since I was a child. He would never do such a thing.â
âWhat else is there? Who else is there to blame?â
He wasnât sure if he even believes you.
You can tell by the way his eyes inspected you that he thought you were just playing a game. Lying to him. But you bent down, bracing yourself as you touched the little bit of liquid still resting on the cup. You hissed at the slight pain and it confirmed your suspicions.
âitâs poisoned, Jaemin.â You confirmed and his brows continued to knit together. âHowever, I donât know how you or Jun donât smell it, or even feel it. Thereâs no marking on your body that indicates a charm and these faded lines show that this has been happening for a while. If Iâm correct, even way before we were married.â
Jaemin just stared at you, emotion clear from his face. Such a serious accusation against one of his trusted men by a Kalonian princess. Who was he to believe?
âI believe you have been tricked so much in your life that you have no problem but to look past everything else and accuse my butler immediately.â Jaeminâs voice deepened considerably and you knew he was a little angry at your lack of faith to Jun.
A hint of a smirk flitted past your lips. âHeâs nothing but a butler to you, prince. Yet, why do you protect him so?â Your head cocked to the side, curiously. âWe can keep our friends at an armâs length but our enemies can be hidden in the shadows behind us. Thatâs why I have no problem mentioning him as a suspect. In the end of the day, I am alone. You are alone. So what kind of fool lets himself be fooled by a little bit of friendship?â
In a blink of an eye, Jaemin has pinned against his wall beside the long window with his arm pressed against your throat.Â
âWhat did you just call me?â He hissed, expecting you to cower away from his fangs.
But you just placed a sly smile. âA fool.âÂ
He pressed harder and your eyebrows knitted together, slightly pained. âBut itâs okay. Sometimes you have to change your role as a prince to a fool. To be the fool to fool the fool who think theyâre fooling you.â
He paused and looked at you different. âThis is not a simple play that I can easily change my character and expect an understudy to take over. I am the future king of Kalon and Orenda, princess. I canât trust anyone to bear the weight of that title other than myself.â
The pained expression behind his cold facade in his eyes made you wince as it felt familiar to you and you just canât help but softly place a hand on his cheek. The bags under his eyes made it clear of the pressure being placed upon by his parents as he neared his coronation age. Although he never mentioned it to you, the reason for his visit to his familyâs house was to prepare him for whatâs to come.Â
And he didnât like it.
âWhat do you expect me to do with Y/N?! Huh? What about her?!â
âIt should be easy to you, Jaemin. Sheâs just a girl. A princess, sure, but just a girl. Once this is all over, you can have your pick at any girl youâd like.â
It took a bit of legilimency and it wasnât easy as you were out of practice but with the help of the library and ancient Meraki spellbooks hidden away, you were able to look into his memories and you were shocked to see his defiance and refusal to betray you.
Despite everything he has done to you, you have equally tortured him and you didnât think he was so bad. If anything, you were both the same.
âI was wed to you because my purpose is to share the burden with you, not to just be a handbag on your arm for the public. And I still stand by my statement. Itâs okay to not be the prince for a second. Youâre still a child, for devilâs sake. A foolish child, but itâs okay.â
Jaemin loosened the pressure and he looked down, his fringe covering his face. His fist shook with anger and he finally looked up to you with raging eyes. âIt wasnât my fault that I was placed into this life and I never asked to be the crowned prince. Donât you think I have wanted to just be a child before? To go to parties and go to university like the other vampire children? But I canât. I canât because I was given the short end of the stick.â
A sympathetic expression graced your face and you couldnât believe it but you gave him a slightly soft smile, understanding his pain. âI think we all have. But itâs harder for me because Iâm just a woman. For me, it wasnât to be a child. It was to be a man and be able to express myself without the restrictions of my gender. I couldnât even tell you the amount of times Iâve been shot down and my ideas thrown out of the window because of what I look like. So weâre in the same boat, Na Jaemin. I canât believe itâs taken us this long but we need to look out for each other. If we want to change the ideals of our families and countries, we must change and break away from the strings of our puppets.â
For the first time since he married you, Na Jaemin looked past your dress and your face. He saw a prisoner trying to get out.
He saw him.
Inviting him out for tea, Jaemin sounded genuinely surprised as Jun delivered the message from you. After several talks about the poisoning, Jaemin has become quite leery of Jun and was very suspicious as you even wanting to do anything with him was very unlike you.Â
Keeping on guard and watching Junâs every move, he followed him out to the courtyard and let out a relieved sigh at the sight of you reading. He walked towards the table and saw an array of sweet edibles.
âI thought you didnât like sugar?â He asked as he sat down. You looked up at him from your book and sniffed.
âOf course, I donât. But you do.â You answered. âAlso, peach tea, your favorite. I was unsure of how many sugar cubes you placed in it so Iâve just left it out.â You added before returning back to your book.
All he could do was look at you in shock.
How could you remember his affinity for sweets? Also, not minding the smell of the sweet tea even though nothing infuriated you more than the smell of peaches.
âJun, could you leave us for a moment?â You asked without looking up from your book.
Jaemin saw Jun curtly nod and walk away through the doors and back to the house.
âWhat was that about?â He asked before shoving a cookie in his mouth.
Looking up, your lips curled at the crumbs around his lips and grabbed a napkin to wipe his lips. âOh, do mind your manners, Orendian.â He stared at your face as it concentrated on getting rid of the bits of crumbs with the white napkin. âAnyways, I have done some research and of course, I was right.â
He chuckled after taking a sip of his tea and wiping his lips. âQuite a confidence there, princess.â
âWell, I touched the liquid and it was indeed holy water and the fainter the lines are, the longer itâs happened. It seems he hasnât given you any until that night because if he has done it recently, it would be clear and evident. Green symbolizes the holy water and the thin lines were left as it burned its way down-.â
Jaemin listened but found himself distracted at the way your lips moved and the wonder if they have always been that pink.
â-And the question still remains. How do you not feel or smell it and how come nobody else noticed it?â
A playful smile-more like a smirk-appeared on his face to cover up the fact that he hasnât been listening to your rant. âOh? My Queen, you seem to be taking on an entire villageâs role. Youâre a princess, a planner, now a doctor? What else is there I donât know about you?â
Mockingly smiling, you shook your head. âHa ha, so funny. You see, thereâs a difference between you and I. Iâm educated and clearly, youâre not.â
Obviously taking offense to that comment, he widened his eyes at you. âExcuse me, Kalonian? Are you saying Iâm stupid and illiterate?â
âWell, did you hear those words coming out of my mouth? But itâs good to know you think about yourself like that. However, now I wonder. If you think youâre stupid and illiterate, why do you act like such a pompous ass all the time?â
A hearty laugh filled the air and you watch in surprise at the way this boy in front of you scrunched his eyes in laughter and the corners of his mouth raised his cheeks.Â
This was clearly not the same one you married a while ago.
To your surprise, you were actually able to tolerate him for just one afternoon.
And all it took was a simple poisoned cup.
Sitting on the car with Jun sitting at the passenger seat, your fingernails dug into the leather of the seat and you tried to stop yourself from ripping open the door and tearing his head off yourself.Â
With the things he has done to your husband and the fact that he even tried to kill him with you in the house and probably knowing your goals, you felt disrespected and when that happened, you were going to take action.
âYour Highness, I have received word the Leeâs Butler that Prince Donghyuck is waiting for you at this address.â Jun informed from the front and you bit a cruel grin, knowing exactly where it was without even having to look at it.
âOh, yes. Tell him we will be right there.â
With the excuse of wanting to have tea with the Lees, you told Jaemin you were bringing Jun along with you in case you needed him. On the plane to Cerilian, you took note of Junâs odd behavior, knowing that being an Underworlder made him so anxious to be so high up and so close to the Heavens.Â
Or it could be the guilty conscience.
The drive there felt like you were driving straight to Luciferâs palace with how long it took but you finally arrived at a manor. The manor that was only used by Donghyuck for special reasons.
Jun opened the door and walked out first before opening your door and holding out a hand to help you out. Biting back your disgust, you daintily hovered a hand over his gloved one and took off your sunglasses, strutting to the main door where 2 tall men stood guard.
âHello, gentlemen. Pleasant day?â You asked sweetly. They looked at you and returned to their fixed gaze above your head.
âPrincess Y/N of Kalon has requested to see Prince Donghyuck.â Jun said and the men stood the side and pushed the door open.
You sent them a bright grin and offered a loud âthanks!â before entering the manor.Â
Inside, Donghyuck sat on the couch, messing around with what seems to be cocaine. You saw his concentrated expression melt away as he caught sight of you and opened his arms for a welcoming hug.
âHello, princess! It has been a while hasnât it?!â You nodded and when his red eyes rested on someone behind you, his grin grew wider. Very sadistically. âOh! And you brought Jun with you!â
With an angry scoff, you looked at him pointedly. âCan we start, Donghyuck? I promised my husband Iâll be home tomorrow. And Iâd love to cram a bit of sight-seeing of your country.â
Donghyuck bowed, âYes, your highness.â And he stood up, a wicked glint in his eyes. âBOYS!â
The 2 men from outside entered and Jun looked out of sorts as they took him by his arms and legs before dragging him away.Â
âY-Your Highness! Princess Y/N! Help! What-!â His yells silenced and you thought one of them knocked him out.
âShall we, princess?â Donghyuck offered his arm which you took with a polite smile.
âWe Shall.â
Jun woke up a few minutes later and he looked around wildly at the plain room and tugged at the restraints. He saw the 2 men with you and Donghyuck to the side. Trying not to look obvious, he closed his eyes and tried to use his magic to remove the ropes but to no avail, instead making it tighter which caused him to whine quietly.
âI wouldnât try that, if I were you.â Donghyuck warned. âThe more magic is done, the more itâs going to restrict. It can only be done with a Sterilian steel knife and itâs right here.â He patted his pants pockets.
âYour Highness! Princess Y/N! Whatâs the matter of this?!â He yelled and you only gave him a cold smile.
âWhat the hell is the matter with you? Poisoning your king and doing it under my fucking HOUSE!â You roared.Â
He grew quiet until he spoke quietly with venom lacing his voice. âMy brothers and my father died in the war between Orenda and Kalon. Then their bodies were taken, blood drained to be dipped into your swords as it is the only thing that could cut vampire skin. You tricked our families and Meraki thinking you were doing good but you were doing it all wrong!â Jun looked up with angry and sad eyes. âAll of us! We grew without a male and the only ones left in my family were taken and thrown into a fucking war they werenât meant to be part of! You and your bullshit lies! All of you! Fraudulent!â
Youâd be lying if you said his answer didnât hurt because it did. Every night you thought about how terrible this alliance was and the lives lost for no reason. A single marriage in exchange for millions of lives.
Donghyuck remained silent so you spoke. âAll of that happened under the leadership of our parents and our ancestors. We had no control of that. Jaemin and I? Weâre going to change that, Jun. We want to break away from this and change our world to its full potential without the loss of any of our and your kind. We want to make this place a better place!â
âThat Merakian princess? King Suleimonâs daughter? We know the truth. She was killed by you lot because of his obsession with her. Rather than taking ownership of it, you let the Egyptians take the blame and let Meraki loathe humans for thousands of years. All of you are liars from the very start. I may be foolish but Iâm not a fool. You cannot deceive me with your lies. Thatâs why I did it. I did it because I had the closest connection to the future ruler of the Vampire World. I may not be remembered but I will avenge my country!â
âYou crazy, ignorant son of a bitch,â Donghyuck sneered.Â
You walked over and placed a delicate finger under his chin to bring him to eye level with you. âNormally, I would understand people like you. Revolutionists, right? But you have tried to kill my husband, Jun. I canât allow others to do that unless it was me. And bad things happen to the people who interfere with my plans.â You said and slapped his face.
âYou will die for this, Kalonian! You and the rest of your kind!â He screamed and it became louder as the guards poured holy water on him.
Donghyuck had a cruel smile on his face as he watched the scene in front of him and he offered a match of fire, which you accepted.
Holding it tightly and ignoring the slight hiss at the proximity of the flame, you stood in front of Jun for the last time. âAnd Jun, before you go. Only my husband can call me that.â
And you dropped the match.

sorry for not having any updates these past few weeks!!
hereâs currently a rundown of my life:
my school just shut down (they knew it was going to be closed so they were trying to cram everything in) and my 3 sisters are actually in foreign exchange programs in Europe and weâre scrambling trying to get them home. one is in Barcelona, one is in france, and the other is in italy. my mother is refusing to let me ride the subway so ive been walking to work everyday and i still have homework to do and i just dont have time to even shower for more than 10 minutes!!
as some of you might already know, my life is mostly very hectic and chaotic and crazy and when that happens, i dont really have the energy to do anything else. ive been running on coffee and monster drinks, trying to type up my 35-page English project, 25-page research paper for Science and my college algebra packet.Â
the love for blood and roses and how its received by you guys makes me đ„șÂ
im actually really angry at myself for not updating the story and i keep saying that i will update but i end up not and i feel really guilty and it just makes me really mad at myself. but knowing you guys actually like it in the first place is enough for me to continue writing and i really appreciate you guys taking the time and reading it and sending words of encouragement and how much you guys like it. iâll still try to update and post the next part but i cant guarantee a date but hopefully before the end of march or the week.
i actually didnt want to even publish it in the first place because yknow, insecurity.Â
but my best friend pushed me to do it. i didnt tell him about any of the plot or anything but he has read some of my bulleted ideas for random stories and he told me to post my writings in places like tumblr.
of course, i was very against this idea because 1, what if it isnt well received and 2, i dont know how to work those sites!!
but he convinced me and a few months later, you guys are hitting me up with over 500 followers already!!Â
when times have been rough, you guys actually have taken your time to write me a message or chatted w me and just talked about stupid shit and it really helped me take my mind off of things.Â
im not saying this community is all angels and unicorns because thatâs not true. but this community has people that actually care about you and your well-being, despite not even knowing you or ever seeing your picture before.Â
you guys are such a blessing to me and you have no idea how much joy and happiness this site has given me.
so thank you, for everything.
Where are you from
i was actually born in Singapore since my dad is from there but we moved to Osaka when i was like 6 because my mom is from there but we moved again when i was 10 we moved to new york and here i am today!
hint hint (i live in manhattan so some of yall mightve seen me already)
When is the next part of blood and roses coming out I donât mean to pressure you I just want to know
im still writing it and it would probably be out sometime during the weekend (if not, earlier)
so,,,Â
my guy best friend apparently had a crush on me and told only one person (that wasnât me) and i didnât like him back then but now, i like him (before i knew he liked me) and im really fucking pissed at myself for letting a good guy like him slip past me
we love using our personal life struggles as fanfic concepts
Do you have twitter or Wattpad
i dont really have any of them, especially wattpad because ive heard its kinda a toxic environment and tbh, its a little complicated to operate... im kind of a tech grandma here
[6:13 PM] Roughly sighing as you twisted the knob to enter your apartment, the darkness from the absence of the light made you feel worse. The emptiness of the place you once called âhomeâ didnât used to bother you until you saw him across the street. Jimin called out to you, in hopes of meeting you at the center of the crosswalk but you turned around and ran. There was no way you were going to exchange a few words with him because you knew, the moment he opens his mouth, you were his again. The pain and the loss was too great and not worth letting yourself succumb to his temptations that would eventually result in the heartbreak that would last for a few years. Although itâs been months since he moved out, you still see things that reminded of the love you once had. There was a cat statue that sat on the coffee table, smiling so happily its eyes disappeared into thin lines. You were wish you were that happy right now. But as you took your phone out, you were once again reminded that you were alone and could never re-live those precious memories of a Sunday afternoon.
âHey, Y/N. Listen, I-.. I know I messed up, love. I should never have chosen her because youâre you and itâs always going to be you. Darling, Iâm so sorry. Seeing you there, I knew I wanted nothing more than to have you in my arms again and do nothing on our bed during the weekends. Dear God, Iâm still in love with you, Y/N, and knowing that I made it so that you would never be mine again is enough to make me want to die than live without you by my side. I love you, Y/N. I need you. So please, give me another chance. Please, meet me for breakfast on Thursday in Kookieâs and Koffeeâs. If not⊠If not, I understand. Just... delete this voicemail or whatever. But⊠I hope I see you-â

3. Social Darwinism
A rash has slightly developed on your neck where the sun hit it just right without the defense of your coat. It was very uncomfortable but you didnât let it bother you, instead focusing ahead outside the window. After your shopping trip with Jaehyun, you felt like it was time to go home even though you wanted to stay longer and didnât want to be trapped in that house.
Itâs been weeks since the wedding but you felt like it was longer.
The car stopped, the driver stepping out and walking over to your side before opening your door so that you can get off.
âYour highness,â he greeted before bowing and extending his hand out for you to take.
You gratefully nodded and grasped his gloved hand to step out of the vehicle, adjusting the sunglasses that has fallen to the bridge of your nose. The chauffeur went to the trunk to retrieve your shopping bags and luggage from your trip to France.Â
The smell of the daisies and the roses from the garden out back was so strong that you were sure anyone, even without super senses, could smell it.
You loved the smell of roses.
Heels clacking against the marble floor of the entrance hallway, the maids stopped in their tracks and hastily bowed 90 degrees upon the sight of you. As you raised your hand to take of your sunglasses, some of them visibly flinched and it unconsciously placed a smirk on your face.
Youâre worked so hard to be feared and you have lost so much to be at the status you are now and you werenât going to let that go to waste because of a stupid little boy.
The butler, whom you now know as Jun, led a few footmen who were carrying your luggage and stopped a few feet behind you. With a flick of his gloved hand, the maids were dismissed and they scurried away from the sight of you.
âTake these to the Head Maid and she will take them to Her Highnessâ room.â The footmen nodded and wandered off to the old woman waiting by the staircase. Jun stepped in front of you and smiled kindly before raising an arm. âIf you could follow me, your Highness. The Prince has requested your attendance to the drawing room.â
Upon walking down the hallway with gold-painted walls, you could feel the eyes of the portraits that hung up high. Although they werenât even supposed to be real, the judgeful eyes of the past ancestors of the Orenda kingdom seemed to follow you and you could even hear their hateful whispers and hisses.
âKalon blood, on our territory?â
âPerish and repay the lives lost of our House for yours!â
âDirty blood mixed with ours will taint the House line for eternity!â
The whispers werenât even there but the creation of your imagination as you could feel yourself slowly slipping away to insanity with this forceful arrangement that altered your life forever. With the gender you were born with and the belief that no woman could rule a kingdom, the only way you could have what you wanted was to ally yourself with your rival House.Â
But the only way youâll keep your sanity is to play wisely and not hesitate to let him burn for the benefit of you.
Pushing open the tall oak wood doors, you were a little startled at the amount of faces when you only expected one, your husbandâs. Even without getting to formally know them, it was still your duty as a royal to be familiar with all of them as they were all princes from various kingdoms of your world. From the honey-haired boy to the ridiculously bright orange-haired prince, the only thing that they all had in common was the bright red eyes.Â
The stark difference between the twin princes of the Cerilian House was enough to show the diversity of the line of their ancestors. Situated in the Indian Ocean, their kingdom could easily prey on poor fishermen filled with luscious human blood.
Born with platinum hair, Lee Jeno always stood out from the rest of the 4 Lee princes and combined with his defined facial structure, he became feared and his ruthlessness was enough to make him Jaeminâs right man. He was the one Jaemin called first regarding the ambush attack on his family from House Pezzerio and together, they became the most feared duo in the Underworld. Even though he rarely spoke during council meetings, Jenoâs eyes always held whatever he wanted to be expressed and he was known to always keep an eye out for his brothers and the crown prince, Taeyong. Rumor has it that Jenoâs eyes and ears are so sharp, he could easily detect a traitor from across the room. There is no definite answer as to if this was true but who do you think was supplying his brother, Donghyuck, his toys?
Meanwhile, Lee Donghyuck stayed in the shadows. Known as the playboy prince, he often stayed away from his kingdom, preferring to spend his time in Tuscany with human girls to feast on. The melanin, honey haired boy wouldnât even be thought of as a vampire, much less a vampire prince, due to his soft features. However, out of the 4 princes, he was the most cruel. He saw the world and its people, human or Underworlders, as toys and nothing but his source of enjoyment in this dark world he lived in. Like his brother Jeno, their smile could be saying one thing but their eyes were always very honest, especially if it didnât reach their eyes. With a dangerously playful nature, Donghyuck participated in the torture of war criminals and traitors of House Cerilian and had a thirst for the look of intense pain from the enemy as he used his lighter to tease the fragile vampire skin.
House Dormir was placed on the East China Sea, extending to the North Pacific Ocean and ending near Hawaii. With the vast territory, their kingdom usually split up in 2 different sections with 2 princes who co-ruled the kingdom. With the Orendian and Kalonian kingdom being smaller even when combined, House Dormir was known to sometimes challenge the authority of the Capital just because of the size of their territory.
Being a direct ancestor of the original line of Dormir kings, Zhong Chenle became powerful even before he turned 12. The death of his King father and older brother urged his mother to make him mature quicker with plans of ascending the throne by his 18th birthday but he wasnât prepared. Rebelling against his mother and doing anything he can to piss her off, he teamed up with Jisung and constantly did childish things to make their immaturity known. Showing up with orange hair definitely caught the attention of the council and they knew this little boy was going to bring Dormirâs downfall. In came the 3 older princes: Jaemin, Donghyuck, and Jeno. At first, he was being used as a pawn for the Orendian Kingdom and the Cerilian Kingdom wanted to take over his large territory and split it for themselves. But Chenle was smarter than that and he threatened the 3 enough that they stopped the expansion, instead becoming close to the boy after seeing themselves in him.
However, this couldnât be done without the help of Chenleâs cousin and the future ruler of the other half of Dormir, Renjun. With his quick wit and intelligent way of thinking, Renjun helped Chenle play many wars to get what he wanted. Not knowing if he was going to be trusted, Chenle was suspicious but Renjun has made it clear with his clear intentions as he only wants to rule alongside Chenle. After all, with Chenle by his side, everyone was forced to submit to him due to the power his family has. Known as the Night Raven, after his famous midnight colored hair, Renjun called the shots whether captured criminals got to live another day or not. He knew exactly where someoneâs weakness was and would mercilessly torture them with it, all with a smile on his face. Letâs just say, him and Donghyuck get along very well.
Last but not least, the little pink haired boy. Known as the last surviving son of House Vermille, Park Jisung built a strong connection to Zhong Chenle and by association, became connected to the rest. You knew him ever since you were little and saw him as a little boy in the parties you were forced to attend and his mousy features that have defined itself due to his growth. You always remembered him as the boy with the sharpest teeth as whenever he smiled, he would accidentally cut his bottom lip and him sheepishly smiling afterwards. His innocent and adolescent nature made you feel nostalgic because you wanted to take him under your wing since he was so young. With just turning 140 a few months ago, Jisung was by far the youngest crown prince and the least capable. You vaguely remembered when he turned 115, he reached the age of intense hunger and he wiped out an entire French village thus almost causing a war with Metanoia. But, your family stopped the war because House Kalon, too, had territory in France and they didnât want to jeopardize the alliance theyâve made to the kingdom in the Atlantic Ocean near Languo.
Of course, you knew them.
The perfect plan to obtain Underworld domination was to start a fire in this room as it contained the most powerful people in the Underworld.
All of the boys studied you and you cracked a smirk, crossing your arms across your chest. âWell, hello boys,â you greeted with a sultry tone.
Closing the door behind you, you stopped short by the end of the oval wood table that seated your husband at the head. Making eye contact with him, Jaemin smiled before he stood up and walked over to you, arms wrapping around your middle and pressing a slow kiss to your temple.
âHello, darling. How was your trip?â Jaemin asked with a sickeningly sweet tone that made you wretch inside.
Placing a gentle hand on his strong bicep, you peered up at him through your lashes. âEnjoyable, but not pleasing enough.â You answered with a smile but grit your teeth and squeezed his arm the hardest you could and his smile fell, replaced with a hardened expression.
Oh, he is going to destroy you later.
âYou couldâve told me your little friends were coming. I couldâve came back earlier and arranged for scones,â you gazed at the others who wore faint amused smirks at the interaction in front of them.
Jaeminâs gaze remained on your face and you felt it piercing through your cheeks, âThere was a human boy found wandering the woods. He will serve as our refreshment.â
Nodding silently, you took a seat beside Jisung and laced your fingers together. âSo what has brought you all to this side of town?â
âMalor just lost an entire noble family in England a few days ago from vampire hunting. They planned to stay in Yorkshire for a few months for vacation but word got around of their true identity and burned their vacation home. The Council wants to know our opinion about it and the family wants us to deal with it. Something about this being a trial run for the future.â Jeno explained as he visibly tried to get comfortable while crossing his legs.
Jaemin nods and he returns to his seat and leans back, brushing his long fingers through his hair. You unknowingly licked your lips at the action and only noticed your behavior as he caught your eye and looked at you teasingly. You coughed and held your right hand out to examine your nail.
âWell, Malor is quite known for their, should I say -idiotic- elites. Vacationing in a country that has vampire stories riding the winds and not expecting to be hunted with no hesitation? Consider me improper but they deserved their demise.â
Donghyuck let out a dry chuckle and rested his elbows on the table, resting his chin on his right hand. âI must say, princess. I never considered you as the deserving justice type.â
You returned his cheeky smile with a wink, âIf I were to rule the Underworld, I would make sure the weak and stupid ones were gone first, right? It would be better if it wasnât done by my hand.â
âApplying Social Darwinism to your court? A bold yet risky move,â Renjun commented, eyeing you curiously.
It must be odd seeing a woman speak so rashly and freely about topics like these, much less a royal woman.
âOur world can only survive if we get rid of weaklings. Sorry, but I donât make the rules.â
Chuckles surrounded the table and even Jeno had to suppress the smile that threatened to come out. Jaemin looked at you once more and he started to think differently of what he originally thought was a privileged, spoiled brat who only wanted the crown of jewels on her head, not the responsibility.
It was the good kind of different.
âWell, because of that rash attitude, the union of your houses has caused quite an uproar with an underground resistance that is forming in the Capital as we speak. The war from years ago is still fresh in the minds of many and are outraged at the outcome of the 2 kingdoms. Word has it that they are planning an attack and it is even sponsored by other kingdoms as well. My men have no guaranteed answers and no direct evidence for the suspected Houses or whether the attack is directed to you or to us by association.â You eyed Jeno curiously and noticed the strong aura he radiated. It felt familiar but strangely ominous and made you nervous.
âWell, why donât we catch them now? We know thereâs a rebellion happening and we know that theyâre planning something. Are we just going to stand and wait for it to happen?â Jisung argued and Chenle nodded in agreement, looking at the faces of the elders.
You turned to him and placed a manicured hand on Jisungâs shoulder. âDonât worry, little mouse. A lesson about war, it is in your best interest for the enemy to come to you. Thinking on your feet is the best way to win and as a bonus, requires less thinking which should be beneficial for you.â
âSo, what youâre saying is, they should come to us rather than us going to them?â Chenle asked curiously, confused by this battle tactic.
You nodded, âPrecisely.â
âIf they are planning something, itâs only natural for you two to be the target since youâre the future king and queen. Someone might be taken as an exchange for you but itâs suspected and there might be a way to escape that,â Renjun commented.
You frowned, slightly confused and even a little shocked at what they were saying. âDonât focus on only the two of us. All of you are princes as well and itâs only wrong for you to be thinking about our safety. Regard your titles as you are also a royal member of your respective kingdoms. Any action placed upon you can cause a war and a rebellion amongst the people and give them more power. The last thing we need is an internal conflict that could possibly weaken us.â
But Jaemin grinned cynically, razor sharp teeth on display. âOh, darling, you donât have to think about that. If something were to happen to my boys, with the combination of our armies, we could crush anything. I could feel a revolution running through my veins and with the help of them, we could destroy those other treacherous kingdoms.â
âSo what do you have in mind, Jaems? What could bring them to us?â Donghyuck asked, lazily playing with a stain on the wood.
Both you and Jaemin looked at each other and you scoffed as you seem to be thinking what he was thinking.Â
âAn auction. Human auction.â He answered and Donghyuck smiled happily, eager to find more beings to play with.
âThere is no certainty that we will find a King that is sponsoring this rebellion but it could give us a good idea that could help narrow it down. We must not be rash about this situation but we must be on high-alert as well.â Nods were sent to you and Jaemin sent you an approving nod.
âWell there we have it! We got a plan, we execute the said plan, and we live happily ever after! Huzzah!â Donghyuck exclaimed, rising out of his seat.Â
But Jeno tugged down his shirt and made him fall back on his seat again. âNot so fast, Dongie. We still have to talk about your magical adventure in Milan that caused a few dozens of missing girlsâ cases to appear.â
You stood up, brushing invisible dust off of your skirt. âAs much as I would love to ask about your insane thirst for young, virgin maidens, Donghyuck, I do have a party to plan.â
âBut itâs not a party,â Jaemin remarked. You scoffed and sent him a manic smile.
âWith wine, cocaine, and blood? Oh, yes, my love. It is a party.â
The bed creaked as a series of powerful thrusts of his hips snapped towards you, making you whine and gasping for air. Your arms were starting to give out, letting Jaemin hold you up by your waist and continue slamming himself into you. Sweat gathered on his forehead and left his luscious blonde locks to plaster themselves against his porcelain skin.
âIâ thrust
âAmâ thrust
âYourâ thrust
âKingâ thrust
âUnderstand?â thrust
A high-pitched whine left your lips as he sunk deeper into you, relishing the satisfaction of him touching you places you couldnât even fathom was possible.Â
Not hearing your response, Jaemin let one of his hands go and swiftly twisted your hair into a make-shift ponytail and tugged you close, lifting you so you were against his chest and on his lap. The sudden action made you scream since he sank even deeper.
âI said, understand?â He hissed and you couldnât even control yourself, whining and moaning at the sharp thrusts.
âYes, my king.â
âGood.â
