drawn to wilder nights. (sorchallenge ii)
who: ericka wood (mentions of darren and elizabeth wood, james gardner, lucy gardner, nora zimmer and anthony chambers) what: when ericka was too focused on despising vampires, and knowing she couldnât share the fact she knew about supernatural beings with her best friend and she wasnât as special as lucy, she found in a human faction the place to be exactly what she was meant to. when: au
Ericka is seen as a normal and ordinary girl, who talks more than she should and very often let it slip things that could make people know that she isnât in fact as oblivious to everything that happens around her than she makes them think she is. However, in this alternative universe, Ericka discovers that her little knowledge could make her become great and with that, perhaps her will of going against vampires could make her a great hunter, or a great help to the cause of protecting those who canât protect themselves, like her mother once needed.
âThereâs three of us, and itâs a small town. Itâs not that hard to hear our name mentioned.â Lucy teased, smiling over at her friend. âI loved high school. Thatâs true⊠but iâm pretty sure heâs married, so itâs still kind of forbidden.â
âMaybe, perhaps thatâs the reason.â She wanted to sigh, but she didnât. Asking for another round she looked at Lucy. âIâm actually glad it ended, we have good memories but I didnât want to go back. Really? Hasnât he gotten divorced? Damn... you are shattering my dreams today.â
âDonât take this the wrong way, but do you have A.D.H.D or something?âÂ
âFight or no fight, I always know how to have a good night, Ericka. Donât go doubting my abilities now.âÂ
âI have no idea, never been tested. But taking this town is already too crazy, maybe itâs just a consequence of living here... or something like it.â Like holding your tongue, Wood. The redhead wanted to hide her face somewhere, knowing her father woul say she was careless again.
âI can only agree with it, once Iâve seen it. So drink up, Malcom and have fun.â

â What makes you say that?â
âBecause I like them, a party is always a good thing.â
âShush. Weâre not the most well known family.â Lucy knew her family was pretty well known in Moon Island, but she wouldnât consider them the most well known. âYou know who wasnât gay was our physics teacher, Mr. Jones. He was cute.â
âIâm sure Iâve seen people know your last name everywhere, besides... this is Moon Island, a freaking tiny small town where if you sneeze in the morning, at night everyone will know about it.â Ericka winked at her friend, smiling a little bit. âYou are making me miss high school, well.. at least now itâs not forbidden to go after him.â
âPlanning a birthday by yourself is too hard. No wonder people use planners and shit like thatâ
âI love parties, if you need any help... I could be the best person to help you.â
Cecelia looked to the younger red headed woman, barely repressing an eye roll. âYou didnât look like you here dealing with him at all.â
âHeâs just joking, right buddy?â She looked at the man in front of her, hoping he would say yes and leave along with the vampire. âNo need to worry about me. And what are you talking about? Fangs?â
âWhat are you trying to say exactly?â he asked, tilting his head to the side in amusement.Â
âVodka it is then,â he nodded before motioning the bartender over, ordering her a vodka tonic and a double shot of Jameson for himself.Â
âNot a single thing. You know how I am, I start to talk and then it gets all confusing.â She laughed as she looked around, trying to make him forget she was indeed speaking her mind.
âAwesome, hoping for a better night than it seemed you were going to have.âÂ
Ana raised her eyebrows but gave her a smile any way. âOh really. Well Iâll have to be sure to keep you in mind if Iâm low on ideas.â She shrugged. âI guess that is true. Iâve blown through quite a few small towns in my times. They are all different in their own way.â Ana tilted her head, now the girl had her curiosity. âOh has she? Knowing Lucy it must only be good things.â
âMoon Island has its on way indeed.â She nodded at the girl, knowing she shouldnât speak her mind share about the fact she knew the secrets from that island, and with that Ericka simply kept herself smiling almost biting her lips to keep her mouth shut. âOf course, Lucy is the sweetest girl you could ever meet. Weâve been friends for quite awhile now, and her friends can also be mine.â
âI wouldnât be surprised. Weâve been best friends since forever. Maybe I should just change my name to Lucy Wood⊠or you change it to Ericka Gardner. Either way it sounds awesome.â Lucy laughed, imagining if one of them actually went through with it. âHe was, but iâm still pretty sure he was gay. No guy can have hair like that and be straight. Itâs impossible.â
âEricka Gardner, part of the most well known family.â Part of herself had dreamed about being part of it, being a Gardner and having the attention Lucy had, it was intriguing and something she could never have. âA girl can dream, and in my dreams he wasnât.â
âIâm quite certain the lady told you to leave her alone. I would hate to have to sink my fangs in someone as vile as you, you should really leave and spare us both the indignity.â
Fangs. The words reached her ear as she felt a shiver comind down her spine. âDonât worry... No need to help me, I can deal with him just fine.â She didnât know exactly which situation was the worst.Â
âI get them to loosen up after you get them drunk, remember?â Lucy was never good when it came to alcohol, which was why she often opted for coffee, tea, or water before any alcoholic beverage. âI think heâd be more surprised if I didnât show up. Iâm surprised he doesnât refer to me as âdaughter number 2âČ due to the amount iâm over.â Lucy shrugged, musing at the thought. âI never took Spanish. If you had taken German with me like we had planned then things would be different.â
âOkay, itâs true.â Ericka tilted her head, before she grabbed the menu to look at something they could drink. âSometimes he asks about you, so I think he got used to you around even more than his own daughter,â the redhead joked as she looked up to her friend. âFirst of all, donât forget about Davis, the Spanish teacher. He was insanely cute and a good enough reason to take Spanish.â
