$10,000 to help the evacuated animals displaced by the CZU August Lightning Fires

WHOA! Donates $25,000 for the Central Trail Bridge project

The Center Trail Bridge project has been completed and is now open for equestrian use. Just this week, the contractor finished installing the bridge, building the new access trail to the bridge and fixing the fence along the west side of the trail. $10,000 Woodside-area Equestrian Merit Scholarship Awarded to Rebecca Refaee

(Woodside, CA) June 12, 2020 – The Woodside-area Horse Owners Association (WHOA!) and the Mounted Patrol Foundation (MPF), joint sponsors of the $10,000 Woodside-area Equestrian Merit Scholarship Award, congratulate Homestead High School senior Rebecca Refaee on being awarded this new scholarship. Both the Mounted Patrol Foundation and WHOA! share a deep interest in the next generation of equestrians, as well as a commitment to helping them achieve worthwhile goals, through each organizations’ ongoing activities and through their joint sponsorship of this scholarship. This scholarship award is especially relevant at a time when financial assistance with education expenses is even more important to the next generation of equestrians. Meet Award Recipient Rebecca Refaee Rebecca’s community service experience includes serving as Assistant Animal Socializer and Youth Volunteer at Jasper Ridge Farm, and volunteering at Sunday Friends, where she helped low-income families learn English. In addition, she created Anatomy Whiz, an Apple app that teaches girls about science. Rebecca, a Los Altos resident, is currently a novice rider for Stanford Red Barn’s Interscholastic Equestrian Team, has lettered in the United States Equestrian Federation’s High School Equestrian Athlete Program, and has been a counselor at Camp Cardinal, Stanford University’s youth horse riding camp, and a volunteer at Stanford horse shows and team tryouts. $10,000 Woodside-area Equestrian Merit Scholarship Award- accepting applicants

The Mounted Patrol Foundation and the Woodside-area Horse Owners Association (WHOA!) are pleased to announce a new scholarship, the $10,000 Woodside-area Equestrian Merit Scholarship Award, jointly sponsored by the two organizations for a local high school senior with a demonstrated involvement in equestrian activities as well as academic achievement and community service.

Both the Mounted Patrol Foundation and WHOA! share a deep interest in the next generation of equestrians, as well as a commitment to helping them achieve worthwhile goals, through each organizations’ ongoing activities and now through their joint sponsorship of the new $10,000 Woodside-area Equestrian Merit Scholarship Award. Application deadline is March 16, 2020, at 3:00 pm, and incomplete applications will not be considered. Eligible applicants are seniors who attend high schools in San Mateo, Santa Clara, and San Francisco Counties, and who have been accepted to and plan to attend a college, university or other continuing education program this fall. The $10,000 Woodside-area Equestrian Merit Scholarship Award will be paid directly to the recipient’s college, university or continuing education program in support of the recipient’s tuition, fees, room and/or board. Financial need will be taken into consideration in the selection of the scholarship recipient. Finalists will be required to provide transcripts showing their GPA. The equestrian community is requesting the Town Council and the Planning Commission to approve the Conditional Use Permit for a new bridge to connect the existing Town public dedicated equestrian trail from Fox Hollow to Why Worry Lane across Bear Gulch Creek on two existing public dedicated trail easements. It's ON! We have our own horse power!

It's ON! Generators will provide electric power, if needed, so we can celebrate our community's horsepower during the Day of the Horse weekend. October 11-13, 2019. Beginning Friday, from 6-8pm, with the Opening Reception and Art of the Horse exhibit at Woodside Independence Hall. Saturday from 11am-3pm is the Progressive Trail Ride along Town of Woodside trails, with many riders in "Super Heroine and Hero" theme costumes, followed by an After-Ride Party at Mounted Patrol from 3-5pm. The family-fun-filled Horse Fair takes place Sunday 10am-2pm at Woodside Town Center, with free pony rides, histoic buckboard wagon rides, arts and crafts, live music, food and more. #DOTH2019#WoodsideHorses Read the full article
