What do you think the world needs?
I am starting this blog today just sharing my thoughts but my hopes are that one day everyone gets to. My hopes are that one day everyone can say what they believe the world needs and I dream of the day when, with enough people, they are not just words and beliefs, they are realities that we created by finding common ground. What do I think the world needs? I think it needs a lot of things but most importantly people need compassion, we all have the capacity for empathy and understanding, some of us forget how, some of us refuse to and some of us are scared to. I remember the one time when I was a young teen and the driver who used to take me home from school everyday once said: Do you know what the world needs? All this world needs is a little patience…see that guy driving over there, that guy pacing on the sidewalk.. all they need is a little patience. If only we were more patient, more patient with our hopes and dreams, more patient with each other, more patient with ourselves..We would all get the chance to grow, get the chance to listen, to love, to dream, to look up every now and then and to remember the things that matter. If only we had more patience to read, write, listen; we would actually understand ourselves and each other more, we would achieve more. I spent my whole life between two worlds, the world I dream of and the world I hate, I used to sit alone, think and write for countless hours and thinking this is all for naught..no one would get it, no one would understand and even if someone did, they wouldn’t really care..they would think just another dreamer, another writer or thinker who has the luxury of time and who can afford to think like that but the world will never change, people will never change. I still believe there will be countless people who will think that no matter what but something happened in my life, something that made me hope again, that made me think again, that made me like life again…I want to like it more, and I want more people to believe that life can actually be good again. No one is saying that it’s going to be a haven, life just doesn’t work that way… but we can help each other hope again, we can help each other believe there is a future we want and not just another life that’s going to be lived in submission. I remember everyone I have crossed paths with before, doctors, lawyers, drivers, engineers, mothers, fathers…I remember every older person I met as a child and I remember them all having this regret of life. The regret that there has been a life not lived, that dreams are for children and people who can afford them, but life is and always will be just one giant disappointment. I refuse. I refuse to accept that reality, I refuse with every cell in my body..call me delusional but I was just born stubborn. I have a life I plan to live, I have a life I have to live..as I am sure anyone who is reading this has or at least once had a life they wanted to live, and a world they wanted to live in. Maybe all this blog is going to be is just me rambling on about my thoughts and delusions, but maybe not, and I am willing to take that chance. So before I start my rambling journey, let me Introduce myself, I am a prideful, stubborn, overthinking, hypocritical, selfish, 24 year old man who is behind in life. I in no way claim to have more experience than anyone. In fact, I am more likely to have less experience than most given my life and age Which is why I am hoping this can be a growing community where people can share their thoughts, lessons and experience.
