Why write?
Is it to help people? Is it more to help yourself? Maybe it is both. I write, so that I can better understand the world around me, and I can help solve my own problem. Even though I am not successful it is good idea to formulate thoughts. Write for myself as a passion not for anyone else...
Why writing? an addendum
Why writing? an addendum
Last October I wrote about why I write for National Writing Day:
I write to think. I write to process information. I write to learn. I write to explore. I write to understand. I write to encourage. I write to teach. I write to implore. I write to celebrate.
I write because I am a writer.
However, as a writer, writing is my nature. An astute student in class last night wanted to know…

Journal Entry #1 “Why Write It?”
A reflection on an article named “Why Write It?” by Brad Wilcox
Brad Wilcox’s article showcased the importance of writing in journals or why having a journal is important. Writing helps people bring out the feelings they’ve kept, or sort out the scrambled thoughts they have in their minds. Journaling, meanwhile, helps people discover who they are; to see their strengths and weaknesses; to reflect on the good and the bad. A journal, according to Wilcox is an environment wherein we are able to think, feel, discover, expand, remember, and dream. And although we do not have the objective to write in our journals for others to read, we know for a fact that we write to express, to release, to sort, and to create thoughts.
In his article, Wilcox featured quotes and phrases such as that of Anne Frank’s Diary, “It's an odd idea for someone like me to keep a diary; not only because I have never done so before, but because it seems to me that neither I - nor for that matter anyone else - will be interested in the unbosomings of a thirteen-year-old school girl. Still, what does that matter? I want to write, but more than that, I want to bring out all kinds of things that lie buried deep in my heart.” a striking line from the famous Anne Frank, in which Wilcox featured. It is pretty much understandable as to why Wilcox used it, because it represents what we truly feel. Another line from his article that touched me was when he said that writing is a representation of life, and we ought to live our lives more consciously. True enough, that when we write, we are more conscious about our train of thoughts and the way we think and apply those thoughts.
As what Wilcox stated in his article, writing in one’s journal is similar to playing basketball alone, giving you that feeling of peace and in control of your own thoughts, moving you forward, making you whole, and the purpose to become.
So, why not, write it?

Sunshine
No, I do not write about the sunshine. It stays here with me. I write to quiet the noise. To get it out, and move on.
