Is the serkel people inspired by Indians or pakistanis or south Asians? Also make serkel have north indian features
Serkel is a huge continent, so it covers a very, very wide range of different peoples and cultures. None of these cultures are directly inspired by any one real-world culture.
However, I will say this: To create the map of Looming Gaia, I took an image of Pangaea and cut it up into different pieces. I believe Serkel contains lands that, in the real-world, became some of South America, Africa, and a little bit of Asia.
When I design cultures for Looming Gaia, I don’t look at real-world cultures much. What I do is first look at geography and climate of the people. I design their culture around what kind of natural things are available around them, then add details based on what species they are, what other peoples are close to them, and how hostile their environment is to them.
Some cultures around Serkel may share aspects with these real-world places because they share geographical/environmental similarities, but they are never meant to be like “these people equal Fantasy Indians, these people equal Fantasy Scandinavians, etc”.
Old doodle of Jiao that I colored a while back but never uploaded
Don’t forget, just because the month is ending doesn’t mean that the push for equal rights needs to slow down. Make sure you are signing petitions, voting, and calling out microaggressions towards bipoc and lgbt people please and thank you uwu.
just had a flashback to me in 3rd grade absolutely blissed out just staring at this pic
Some buddies doing huggies
Trying out a different art style, what do you guys think?
Edit: I never fixed Iris’s hair in the first image 🤦🏽♀️ woops
Where to read more about your halflings compared to your other races? I feel like I never see much about any of them.
Thank you so much for bein interested in my Halflings omg!! 😭
Admittedly because I haven’t gotten many questions about them, there isn’t much on my blog yet. But the past year I’ve been kinda offline and working on them a lot!I’ll try to find time between work to post some stuff about any of them, I really love my Halflings
Do you need someone to ask questions or prompts? I’ll do the honors 😬
I’m doing an oceanic campaign for a new group and I’ve put together some materials for them - this is a quick little showcase of the normal & exotic races they can choose from. I also did two for the monsters of the world. I’ve got tons of naval combat, piracy, storms, leviathans planned for them. Is gonna be great
A lot of you tell me you like how different I make various DnD races look. That got me thinking. Wanted to experiment and see how much diversity can be in such a simple thing as ears. And here we go~
ODD COUPLES OF LOOMING GAIA (INTERSPECIES RELATIONSHIPS)
(lore under cut)
The question I keep getting over and over again is “Do different species marry? Can they breed?” so here’s an entire article addressing that. Enjoy!

Even more dang GMAnimals! I lot of kinda dangerous ones and then whatever that guy at the end is.
Where have all the merfolk?! They’re still here just hiding in plain sight. (This was done as part of a 3dtotal web tutorial. Big thank you goes out to Rob over at 3dtotal for facilitating this)
Pending any edits, this one is finally being called “more or less finished!” I’m pleased with the outcome, but I’m sad I had such a rough time with everything else, which ended up pushing this on to the back burner despite how much I wanted to work on it.
Watercolors, colored pencils, and gouache. Once everything gets the final green light, I’ll have a proper scan to share!
FINALLY the beginnings of the bestiary!!
I’m actually posting the main western mounts first, since I’ve done quite a few Wargs (their info sheet will be coming in a couple days though). These will be released slowly, since I’m still illustrating all of them as well as developing their lore. But please, please enjoy! ヾ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
So introducing the River Dragons and Sky Dragons! I know the text is small to see, so wander over to my deviantart if you’re having a hard time reading it
i swear to god ocean of cycles is almost tew much of a passion project for me bc i am… ridiculous. I’m researching sardines to develop western realm cuisine but also fill out my bestiary because even mundane animals need to feel fantasy enough cause that’s the type of person i am I GUESS
wish i was joking. I’ve been staring at trout too
