Just saw #BlackHoney Paradiso in Amsterdam. Singer Izzy Bee just sizzles on stage. Great show, great music. Will keep coming back for more for sure.
They are incredible and they're starting to fill arena's (UK's O2 Arena in january, to name an example).
When I discovered them roughly 1,5 years ago, they had just performed their last shows after the release of their debut album, An Awesome Wave. Very bummed out I was for being so late with my discovery. And now especially, since I might have missed my chance to see them in a more intimate setting. Joe, Gus and Thom.
This is their video for Hunger of the Pine, from the new album, out TODAY (listen to it on Spotify)
Okay, so this post isn't music. It's about visual art. From one of the most intriguing contemporary artists alive; Sam Dillemans. Don't miss out on this passionate genius.
Barrie-James O’Neill, one member of the promising Scottish four-piece Kassidy, fell in love van Lana. And she fell in love with him. He followed her to America. And became Nightmare Boy. Since then, he’s been making a lot of good stuff. Very excited to hear his debut album. The song I’m posting here is almost a year old already. Check out his YouTube Channel or Soundcloud for more.
And the rest of Kassidy? Well, I don’t know exactly what they’ve been up to, but check out their Facebook-page for more info.
I discovered Kassidy almost 2 years ago, at the great London Calling festival in Amsterdam. I was amazed. The band was great live. Its members were good looking, they had catchy songs. These guys are gonna fill arena’s, is what I thought.
But then they went on tour supporting Lana del Rey and the perfect musicians’ love story happened…. Before I continue, here’s one Kassidy song
Discovering new music makes me the happiest person in the world. It's like finding invaluable intangible treasures that you wanna hug and keep close to your heart.
Look at this guy dancing clumsily in an ABBA T. And the messy haired fellow bouncing in the background. It doesn't look like they take themselves very seriously. Which is great. Their songs are worth it all the way.
I will make sure to check them out live asap
Mia Doi Todd is everything. "Next to being a singer and songwriter, Mia is also a guitarist, poet, painter and dancer", according to Kindred Spirits. She has put out 6 albums, but I'd never heard of her. How come? That is a good question. Eitherway, I love The Way.
And so this video proves The Growlers are insane. Now thinking I M*U*S*T attend Beach Goth Party 2014
Yes amazing new music from The Growlers!
Also so so happy Broken Bells is back with a new album. This great song, The High Road, is from their first, self-titles record.
I'm a huge fan of The Creators Project, Michel Gondry and Noam Chomsky. So I couldn't be happier with this great little video of Gondry honoring Chomsky like only he can.

Connan Mockasin is the coolest crazy I've encountered in music for a while. Made in New-Zealand; a first on this blog I think. I would recommend all their clips. Visual trips recommended.

I always love the internet, and days like these make me like it even more, because I found this musician Joanna Newsom. Her name was mentioned in an article about John Grant.
It was quite hard to find a 'legit' link of any of her music. But here you go. Apparently her album Have One On Me was labeled Instant Classic by Mojo, which also apparently is rare.
I don't understand why it's so hard to find any of her music to listen to online. And the $25 triple LP is out of stock.
Either way her music makes me want to sit on the couch with loved ones near the fire place in winter.
Album: Adagh
Tamikrest have been at it for a few years, but this Tuareg band is only a recent discovery of mine. Real Sahara blues. I ordered the vinyl of their 2011 album Toumastin. It's an amazing musical journey that you can just dream away to. Especially in the cold winter that is ahead of us in the Netherlands.
Read this article the Guardian wrote about Tamikrest. http://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/oct/14/tamikrest-music-tuareg-mali
My work is front page news on WIRED USA today! Exclusive release of the Yeasayer - Glass of the Microscope music video that I directed on WIRED for a couple of days. After that we’ll release it to the rest of the world.
