Can we talk about this for a second, and my hatred for the fact that it was left on the cutting room floor? This brilliant display of work by ddga go unnoticed. The little added touches ie: mulder breathing her in when he’s holding her, to the small moan she lets out when he kisses her forehead, the kisses on each side of her head are a given, and then her small sob after he finishes kissing the love of his life. This is probably my favorite version of this scene besides the horrid lighting/angles. So tender and emotional, and their love was obvious. Platonic… scoffs.

OK BUT WHAT I REALLY WANTED WAS HALF-ASLEEP-BEDRAGGLED-NEW-DAD MULDER STUMBLING OUT OF BED AT 1 AM TRYING NOT TO WAKE EXHAUSTED-BREAST-MILK-DRENCHED-NEW MOM SCULLY, STUBBING HIS TOE ON HER DRESSER AS HE MAKES HIS WAY AROUND TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BED TO HOVER OVER FUSSING NEW BABY WILLIAM, HIS SON, HESITATING TO PICK HIM UP ONLY BECAUSE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS LIFE HE IS COMPLETELY AWARE OF HOW BIG HIS HANDS ARE, BUT THEN WILLIAM FUSSES A LITTLE LOUDER AND BIG-HAND MULDER GLANCES AT HIS SLEEPING PARTNER (IN ALL THINGS, ALL WAYS, ALL LIVES) AND THEN BACK DOWN AT HIS SON, AND HE HUSHES SOFTLY “NONE OF THAT” AS HE LEANS DOWN AND LIFTS HIM UP AND HOLDS HIM - AND THAT WAS THE BRAVEST THING FOX MULDER EVER DID FADE TO BLACK DIRECTED BY CHRIS CARTER
