It’s so cool being in a small fandom, because I haven’t posted in 2 months but I still regularly have people interacting with my posts. What I say about the show is likely going to be seen for years to come because there just aren’t that many posts for them to compete with. That’s so fun!! All of my lovely shipping related wisdom will be passed down to generations of Silicon Valley fans :P

I can’t find a photo, but yknow that scene in the beginning of season 2 episode 1 where Dinesh and Gilfoyle are at the baseball field and this lady goes up to them? Yknow how she asks them what their role at the company is, they both say CTO and then the camera shows them arguing with her awkwardly standing in the background and then eventually when they turn back around she’s gone? That scene is literally purposefully showing us that they are too absorbed in each other to get women. The entire purpose of the scene is to show the audience how they are so involved with each other that they cannot talk to other people, specifically women that they are interested in. Just food for thought.

I am not ok. I think my life peaked when I read this. I sat and stared at a wall for abt 5min as I tried and failed to process it.

Quick lil theory here, but I think that Jared’s love for Richard’s was meant to be all kinds of love. I don’t think that there was a specific type that the authors were aiming for, not friendship, not romance, just everything.

The proof for my theory is that Jared’s love for Richard can be interpreted in so many different ways depending on the scene and it feels purposefully inconsistent. It’s not that each scene feels like many things, it’s that we’ll get a very romantic scene and then the next one is clearly maternal and then the next one is neither and etc, here are some examples:

-When he rebounds off of Richard and ends up with what seems like a crush on Fiona that makes it seem like romantic love.

-When he tries to set Richard up to be friends with Dana it seems like maternal love.

-When he yells at Monica in season 1 because she’s taking Richard from him it seems like an obsessive love for his boss coupled with a strong desire to be useful and a tiny bit of romance but not a romance he’s aware of.

-When he says in the Pied Piper blog that he’d actually like to be a blood boy for Richard if they had the same blood type it seems like strong admiration and revering love.

-In the end of Silicon Valley when he runs up to hug Richard even though they’d seen each other recently it seems like a strong friendship love and maybe a lil crush. Ok, a big crush.

-When Richard has just slept with Dan’s fiancé and Jared calls him a catch it seems like strong admiration coupled with a splash of romantic love.

-When he rebounds off of Richard to take care of Gwart it seems like maternal love and a desire to be useful.

Anyway, there’s way more scenes I could mention, but you get my point. He loves Richard obviously, but not in any specific way, or probably in a specific way but just every single specific way.

When Jarred rushes to hug Richard at TechCrunch he kinda scrunches down to be the smaller person in the hug.

Jared might very well be perfect in every way imaginable.

Dude you don’t even need to be a shipper to see Dinesh and Gilfoyle as romantic. I mean… they literally move next to each other in the finale
