cadence cocked her head to the side at the girl. “ oh come on, jasmine. it’s just a dare to dive in the snow. “ she shrugged. “ it can’t be that bad. “

“Quit it. You can’t blame me for being grumpy, I haven’t seen him in almost two weeks. You’d be grumpy too.”
a smile broke out onto cadence’s face. she wouldn’t even necessarily know anything about missing a significant other, she never had one. “ i’m never grumpy. no matter the circumstances. “

“What do you mean it’s too early to drink. It’s like. Eleven. Didn’t ask you anyway.”
cadence raised an eyebrow at the boy who was pouring a drink before noon. “ i mean, i guess it’s always five o’clock somewhere, “ she muttered under her breath. she was never a fan of alcohol, but to each their own.
“Wait I’m sorry I’m just not good with my words.”
“ come on blyn, i know that. “ cadence chuckled at her friend. “ just take it one word at a time. “

Nose buried deep in a spell book, the daughter of Hecate sat against a tree overlooking the commons of camp. With an apple in one hand and the other holding the spine of the book, she didn’t even notice someone passing rather close until she jumped, slightly startled. The apple rolled out of her hand and hit the other’s foot. “Dammit. One good piece of food I had today.”
leave it to cadence to trip over someone. she’d been so caught up her thoughts (spaced out from getting no sleep) that she hadn’t even seen the girl sitting against the tree. “ oh gods. “ she said quickly, a quiet “ yikes “ following behind that statement. “ i’m really sorry. i can go talk to a demeter kid and get you another apple. “ she gestured towards the demeter cabin, where she knew there had to be an apple ( or any fruit, really ) lying around.

“And, um… what exactly are you doing?”
cadence looked up at the girl. “ um, you know.. “ but even she didn’t have an explanation for what she was doing, which was kind of a mix of trying to read a book and trying to tie her shoe without dropping the book. “ a thing. “
alexis smiled gratefully, linking her arm with the other girls to bring her along to the big house. “ trust me, you’ll be a big help. after all, as my mother used to say, any help is big help. um ——— may i just ask, who’s your parent ? ”
cadence walked towards the big house with her. “ my dad’s hypnos, god of sleep. i’m not sure i have any powers, or whatever but i mean, i can help feed ambrosia and stuff. what happened anyways?”
it was odd ——— as someone who never believed in the existence of romance, so the feeling was extremely foreign. not to mention that he’s never kissed anyone or held anyone this close to him ; and yet he’s somehow dreamt of this moment for years since he met cadence. this entire experience was completely new, but he was more than okay with this. he wasn’t a big fan of change, but he wouldn’t deny how much he liked having her this close to him. one of his hands moved up to caress her cheek again, the other still on her waist as he pulled away, though their faces were still inches away. he smiled at her, biting his lip ; he wasn’t too sure if anyone could tell, but he was in pure bliss. looking into her eyes once more, another foreign feeling hit him ——— he was nervous. he bit his lip, his eyes casting down for a moment … he was actually nervous. however, since pride was one of his many flaws, he had to push past it & caught her eyes again. “ um … teddy didn’t tell you i like you, right ? n-not that i don’t, but i mean … i wanted to tell you for myself … ” no, no he didn’t. considering he never thought this would happen, he never wanted to tell her. but he did, and it felt like a large weight has been lifted from his shoulders. “ i really like you, cadence … ”
cadence let a girly giggle escape her lips as she looked up at him. she moved her hands to rest on his shoulders as she listened to what he had to say. she enjoyed the kiss much more than she had thought she would, in all honesty. it just felt right, the kiss with the hermes boy was a complete mess, but this one wasn’t. the kiss felt like it was supposed to happen and like it was the right thing to do. “no, teddy didn’t tell me anything.” she replied to his question, a tiny smile placing itself on her lips. she really liked this boy too, she didn’t even think she had to say it. it was painfully obvious, she’d be surprised if he didn’t know she liked him. all the years of her staring and making the most awkward conversations in attempts to even talk to him made it so obvious she had feelings for him. she knew half the camp knew, but of course the one guy she wanted to notice her hadn’t until now. “ and talon? i really like you too. “
aren't you worried about teddie?
uh, not really ? teddie and i don’t have issues, i think, so i don’t think i should be worried. unless i hurt talon. but i’m not going to. at least i don’t plan to.
Are you a competitive person?
gods, no. i’m way too tired to care who’s the best at everything. if you wanna be the best, go do it. i couldn’t care less.
do you want to be something with Talon?
uh... well, yes ? i’ve had a little crush on him ever since i came to camp, so... yes. i guess.
what do you like to do besides sleep?
i like to talk to the new campers and get them orientated !! they’re the best, actually. new campers are either eager to be here or not.
What's going on with you and Talon?
um, i don’t know. i guess we’re just seeing how things go? i don’t really know, to be honest. it’s complicated.
Favorite people at camp?
ooh, well i have a lot, i don’t think there’s anyone i don’t like. but i guess talon, blyn, and jasmine, since they’re the people i’ve spoken to the most.
What is your first memory from camp?
my first memory from camp was crossing over the line and just feeling like i was home.
What was your first impression of camp?
well, i came here when i was twelve, so i think my first impression was awe. i mean, it was just such a unique and interesting place, i loved it.
Are you and Blyn still friends? Your friendship was actually #goals
i’d like to think we are !! blyn is a great girl once you get to know her.
