HANZO​:

he’s quiet as he moves across the rooftops.

winston had expressed his worry for overwatch’s little ai. sneaking out, being vague about her location, and for what? that’s what he wanted to know. that is what he needed to know, and so he’d sent the newest shimada out to investigate. he stayed back, stayed quiet. not a word spoken, to the little android or the primate that sent him him.

his father’s sword rested on his back, though his fingers remained curled around it. he did not wish to use it, but should athena find herself in danger, well. he will have no choice.

time comes and go, though, and neither make a violent move towards each other. instead, as they decide to part, athena presses her hand to the wraith’s mask, smiles, and departs peacefully. he knows he should follow, to keep an eye on her. but instead, he remains, moving steadily closer to the shade. he must discover the truth.

There’s an eerie silence after she’s gone, Gabriel knows reasonably he should be getting a move on. But he just can’t yet get the metaphorical Reaper mask back on. He let’s out a wispy sigh and goes to sit by the edge. As far as he’s aware he is alone, he can take the mask off. For a brief moment he hesitates then takes it off, resting it on his lap.

The breeze felt nice upon his scared and slightly torn at the steams face. Damage from burns, fights, and simple degeneration was clear in how gaunt his flesh was and how in places his face didn’t even fully form flesh out of the smoke instead just appearing as dark splotches of smoke.

For a few short minutes there’s silent peace, then creeping nervousness. Gabriel can swear he just saw something in the distance, heard something more like a breath than the breeze. Maybe he’s just frazzled but he can’t risk it. Resigned he puts his mask back on and decides to go the direct route.

One moment he’s stolid the next he’s little more than a wisp and the one after that he’s relocated to the source of the shadow that caught his eye. It appears his gut was right.

ATHENA​:

“yes, remorse. that.” clearing her vocalizer, athena glances away. one hand clasps around the opposite wrist. “very uncomfortable, and i do not recommend. i think it was the first time i’ve ever felt… less than assured about my plans. it wouldn’t be the last, though, commander.”

Unfortunately he can’t stop himself from snickering under his breath, there’s nothing really funny it’s just that this feels like watching a baby deer walking for the first time. “Sorry, it’s just sometimes surprising the stuff that’s new for you. First time for everything though.” He gives a sympathetic glance. “It’s a real struggle, huh. I do feel for ya.”

ATHENA​:

“i… was trying to be polite, commander reyes.”

red optics fall away, and athena shifts her weight from one foot to the other. one arm lifts, to gently grasp the opposite bicep. there is no confusing her posture now; she’s concerned, almost uncomfortable, at the mention of dr. o'deorain. so much so that she doesn’t even want to look at the reaper.

it is no secret that moira was always willing to overlook ethics, sidestep conventions. athena can only imagine the horror she’s inflicted on others. perhaps she doesn’t even need to imagine it. it’s hardly a guessing game.

“although i do miss our intellectual conversations, the doctor and i never agreed on where to draw the line when it comes to testing. much less, of course, the subject of human testing.” a soft scoff, and athena finally glances up at him. her posture slumps, just so. “but i will not bring her up if you’re uncomfortable speaking about her. 

“no matter how we disagreed, she was still one of my agents. per my programming, i worry about her. that does not change my opinion, though.”

“I see,” Athena since joining Overwatch has always been kind, even to those that questionably deserved it. “As far as I know, she’s fine.”

His arms cross and he takes a breath, his own eyes also fall away from his companion. Moria is a pretty messy subject for him considering everything she had personally done to him, how it’s both been a curse and what’s kept him alive. Either way it’s not a topic he likes to talk about.

The parts of his skin somewhat exposed on her arms seem almost hazy, he bites back a sigh knowing it’s a nervous response. Part of him questions why Athena even cares what’s she’s doing, he’s not going to ask that aloud. She’s done nothing to deserve rudeness from him.

“She has always been a good partner for intellectual talks, even I’ll admit that. I’d be fairly surprised if you didn’t have any issues with her testing.” Even after hiring her he had, it just was she had been too useful to get rid of. The sigh escapes as he answers. “Yeah I’d appreciate that, thank you.”

The urge to jump with what she’s done since leaving Overwatch but he fights it and simply stays silent. Athena can feel however she wants.

A website that will to cater to the roleplayer’s needs, full stop. No messing around.

ROLESCAPE is an accessible, aesthetically pleasing social networking website (and mobile app!) with a myriad of features that the roleplaying community, over multiple websites, have been begging for. Made FOR roleplayers, BY roleplayers, the site quite literally would not be possible without the help of the very community it’s targeted toward.

Rolescape aims to change the hassle of needing to use XKIT in conjunction with Tumblr to have an enjoyable experience. A website where the website itself is more than enough. Created by people who know what features you want to see. In only a couple weeks, this project has grown from an idea in one person’s head, a single post and an ask for help, to an entire community dedicated to bringing a much needed platform to the public—for writers, cosplayers, nerds, and role-players alike.

ATHENA:

“you and commander morrison have always been in my corner, so to speak, even after everything. it would be cruel to throw that to the wayside.” a pause, and athena sighs, shoulders rising slightly with the motion. “and, frankly speaking, i see you as a friend, commander. the closest thing to a friend an ai can have, at least.”

after everything overwatch has been through, this feels almost unfair– if athena could believe in something like fairness. they have fought and DIED for humanity’s survival. they have suffered, just to fight back the threat of her fellow god ais, as well as null sector. and now the walls are closing in. the united nations is looking for faults. 

she will have to do better to sweep things under the rug.

“humans react strangely when they’re scared, commander reyes. they don’t like to admit their fear, and so they react in anger. it isn’t an excuse, but…” crossing her arms over her chest, the goddess shakes her head. “we can’t let ourselves falter to that. it would only allow us to tear ourselves apart from the inside.”

that being said, “i’m frightened, too.”

“I-.. Thanks Athena, I’m glad I’ve got you to count on.”  As he processes her words he gives an acknowledging nod. He’ll admit that the idea she considers him a friend surprises him, whether that’s due to her professionalism or something about himself he can’t tell. “That’s actually pretty sweet, for the record I consider you a friend as well.”

The situation Overwatch has got itself in frankly makes his blood run hot, where’s the justice in tossing away and shunning the people who’ve sacrificed so much for the greater good? Where’s the respect? In public and the company of other’s he tries to keep his chill but in private he’s spent maybe a bit too much time with the dart board.

“You’re not wrong, I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen that fact in action on the field. It’s just...” He let’s out a sigh. “It wears down on a person, even knowing it’s nothing personal.”

He tries to give a reassuring look, whether or not it it’s successful is yet to be seen.
