Valentine âs Day Catastrophe
(A/N: To that Anon who requested this (The valentineâs ask). Iâm so sorry that this is late. I had a bit of writerâs block and my Thesis â
Anyway, Iâm not very confident with this one as well. It was rushed at the end, and I wasnât so sure who I was going to end him with. I went with the most random and neutral ending i could think of. Iâm sorry.Â
If you donât like it, just tell me and I will try again!)
Valentine âs Day Catastrophe
âFebruary 14, 6:54 amâ. Flashed on the screen of his cellphone as he attempted to turn hi alarm off. Blue eyes stared at the screen blearily before letting out an annoyed groan and floppy back unto his soft bed. Contrary to popular belief, Shinya Hiragi did not like valentineâs day. That day were everyone celebrated the day of love and couples, while the single ones suffer in their dark corners. He was not thrilled in the idea nor was he interested in joining the festivities. Although, he would admit, he was unfortunately ignorant of the relationship thing, he has about zero percent in romance.
(Actually, his only experience of Romance was his fiancé, but then she had outright rejected him about five second after their first meeting.)
However, as much as he hated the holiday, he still has to get up for his class. He groaned as he pulled himself up from the bed. He usually hated waking early in the morning, but with school starting he has to get up six times as day in the ungodly hour of sevenam. He would rather sleep in, but his older brother might not even let him off the hook. With that in mind, he dragged himself to his closet, attempting to throw on his uniform without looking sloppy.
He hated waking in the mornings, but the brightside is that at least he could have toast.
With a more positive aspect, the silver haired teen decided to drag himself down the stairs and towards the kitchen. Their home wasnât actually as grand as the Hiragi estate, but with their education in Shibuya, their father decide that everyone should stay within the city. It wasnât as bad, at least they could have a semblance of normalcy. Or as normal as their family name and its influence could give.
Normally, Shinya was the only one within the kitchen at that hour. With Mahiru going to school early as the âModel studentâ, Shinoa was most likely going over to meet up with her friends, Seishiro still sleeping by this time, and normally Kureto would be at school early for student council preparations, it was usually Shiya who had to make his own breakfast. (Usually there was breakfast prepared for him, curtesy of either Mahiru or Kureto, but he usually ignored it for his favoured toast.)
That morning however, he was mildly surprised to be greeted by his eldest brother. He blinked once, wondering if he was still tired, but the illusion did not disappear. His brother was seated on the dining table, a coffee mug placed in front of him and a text book at hand. He has already worn his school uniform, with the band âStudent Body presidentâ already pinned on his left arm. Shinya looked to his wrist watch, wondering if he woke a bit too early, but it merely indicated how late in the morning it actually is. This was odd.
Curiosity aside, it was rude not to greet his older brother, lest he wants Kureto to sulk. âAh, Good morning nii-san.â He chirped, immediately heading towards the pantry.
âGood morning Shinya.âKureto replied, he did not even bother to remove his eyes from his textbook.
âThis is rare, I thought Nii-san would be handling morning inspection today?â
âIs it really?â he asked, âI would think from time to time I have the right to shrink my duties.â
âDoesnât sound like nii-san at all.â Shinya chuckled, it was odd actually, Kureto does not merely âShrink his responsibilitiesâ, the man was a workaholic. âIs nii-san sick?â
âIâam not.â He denied, âJust sit down and eat your breakfast.â
It was a simple breakfast, a plate of eggs and sausages greeted Shinya, there was even a glass of orange juice next to the innocent plate. It would seem that Kureto made breakfast that morning, the indication was lack of bread. Kureto made it a point to avoid placing bread on the table during breakfast as he knew of his bad eating habits; Mahiru doesnât bother to remove the bread, and if it was Shinoa it would only be cereal.
âOf course I will nii-san.â He agreed, still searching through the cabinets, which was strangely empty of his bread. Well, this was a step up, as usually he found the bread hidden somewhere within the kitchen. âAh, Nii-san, where is the bread?â he braved, although he was sure he wouldnât be given the right answer.
He heard a sigh, and a book being placed on the table. âShinya. I have made a perfectly healthy breakfast already, why would you need bread?â His brotherâs slightly irritated voice wafted over, ah so he did hide the bread again.
âI want toast.â He whined, hoping to at least appeal top his brotherâs soft side. It usually worked when he whined and maybe threw in a pleading look.
âShinya.â He heard the other growl, well looks like itâs no toast day.
âHai! Hai! Kureto-niiâs breakfast it is then.â
After breakfast, his brother handed him his lunch, it was wrapped in a cat themed handkerchief. Their lunches are usually wrapped in different themed cloth so theyâll know which is which. It was kind of cute that his brother made them lunches, on occasions Mahiru did too, but Kureto made it a point to make them lunch as much as he can. Sadly, Kureto avoided making him anything with bread in it, itâs usually some rice, vegetables, and meat. If he was generous enough, it was curry.
That morning as odd in itself already. Being greeted by Kureto was a rarity in itself, however, Kureto did not usually walk with him to school, the last time he did they were in middle school. Today however, it would seem his older brother had planned to accompany him. It was cute how his older brother even shyly took his hand, almost like when they were children. It was a bit nostalgic, Mahiru usually left him and it was always Kureto who would patiently wait for him in the mornings.
He had expected for his brother to let go once they near their High School; he was proven wrong however the taller teen continued to hold his hand even when they entered the school building. He felt a bit embarrassed as he noticed otherâs staring, but his face broke into a wide grin when he saw how uneasy Kureto was, he was blushing lightly but Shinya knew his big brother enough to notice. The man was embarrassed, this was out of character of him, and he rarely showed this side, even to his siblings.
âNii-San is so sweet to walk me to class~!â he teased, poking fun at the older man, this was an opportunity of a lifetime.
âAs the older brother, I think I should make sure you get to class on time and safely.â
âOh~â he chuckled, this was quite entertaining. âDoes this mean nii-san would pick me up later~?â
There was silence for a few minutes, and Shinya was expecting his brother to scold him. What surprised him however the next few lines were: âI wanted to take you somewhere later, so maybe fetching you from your last class would be more practical.â
Blue eye blinked in surprise, but before a reply could be uttered, Kureto hastily let go of his hand and briskly walked to his own classroom. Shinya blinked in surprised before his eyes trailed towards the sign on the door: 1-9, it was his homeroom. He was still quite unsure of the interaction that occurred, but Shinya decided not to dwell on it for long. After all, he would find out soon when his brother brought him to wherever he planned.
As soon as he opened the door he was bombarded with colourful boxes and Valentineâs Day greetings.
For a few minutes he had forgotten what day it wasâŠ
âAh, Thank you.â He said loudly, trying to sound polite and enthusiastic as possible, âAh, sorry I canât accept all of these ladies, theyâre too much for me.â
That did not stop them however, it even made them more insistent, and he internally groaned. He did not want to feel obligated to accept their chocolates. He tried to decline them politely, and more firmly. It was a struggle as the more he denied them the more they insist that he accept the gifts. In the end, he found himself with arms full of chocolate, and very strained but polite smile.
As soon as he was able to take his seat, he dumped the chocolates and candies unto his desk. He wondered what he would do with this much chocolate; although he would not deny that sweets appeal to him, this was too much for him. It was the problem almost every year ever since middle school. This was the main reason he did not enjoy the holiday, although it was a very romantic day for couples and depressing season for the single ones, it becomes a competitive blood bath between suitors and love rivals. Unfortunately, as âMr. Popularââa nickname Goshi would call him whenever the âgirls swoon over your (his) eyesâ, he always had chocolates, gifts, and flowers dumped unto him.
As sweet as it is, it becomes very tiring once in a while.
âWell, thatâs a load of chocolates.â
âGood morning Guren!â âAnd Good morning Sayuri, Shigure.â
âGood morning Shinya!â Sayuri greeted, her smile was bright and welcoming. Such a sweet girl. âI have some chocolates for you, however I think you have too much.â She giggled as she pointed to the small mountain of gifts on his table.
âNo! I want Sayuri-chanâs chocolates!â he whined childishly, smiling playfully but in all honesty, he was touched when she gave him the small box of chocolates. Admittedly, she gave them to her friendâs every year, but it was the idea that she made him chocolates mean that she thinks of him as a valuable friend. âAh~! Sweet chocolates from a very sweet maiden!â
âStop that, you sound like some weird pedophile.âGuren sighed tiredly as he plopped on his seat. Shinya noted the rather large paper back beside the otherâs table. His eyes spotted a few boxes of chocolate. It would seem Guren also received gifts from his own fans.
âHow mean, Iâm not a pervert and may I remind you that you were the one that has porn magazines hiddenââ
Sayuri gave a soft giggle, and Shigure gave Guren a very pointed look. âWell Guren is a healthy teenage boy it would be expected that he would have such secreââ
His morning moved without a hitch, a few minutes later Goshi and Mito arrived. Mito had flushed cheeks, and shyly offered Shigure a bouquet of roses. And Shinya poked fun at them, teasing Mito for her cute shy attitude; she was bold, yes, however she also becomes easily flustered. Â Goshi on the other hand marveled on his âmountain of loveâShinya you should really accept them!â.As soon as the teacher arrived however, all banter ceased and Shinya was left alone to his thoughts.
However, sometimes he felt eyes one him, and each time he turned his head he would catch Guren staring at him before the other would glare or look away.
âYour lunch is a bitâŠromantic.â Guren mumbled, looking over the otherâs bento.
That morning was normal, to say the least. Their lessons continued, sometime with remarks from their teachers about concentrating on their lessons instead of the date. In summary, the morning was normal, and they managed to survive their academic lessons and escape to lunch. Which was Shinyaâs favourite as there were less people around them.
It was usually the six of them on the rooftop during lunch hour. Having his brother as the president has its perks, normally students werenât allowed on the rooftop, however the teacherâs trusted Kureto and his brother trusted him. And they usually spent their lunch hour together, however Mito and Shigure decided to have lunch alone for the day, Sayuri Mentioned a club meeting, and Goshi mentioned about a lunch date with his new fling. It was only Guren and him now, and right now the other teen was staring at his lunch.
Or to be precise, what was included in his lunch.
It was normal bento actually, however, what surprised them both was, laying on the rice, covered in clear plastic was a beautiful red rose. The stem was trimmed, as so it could fit into the box. Shinya blinked, this was surprising, but not all that odd. In the past, whenever there was a special occasion Kureto would add a special treat into their lunch if it was his turn.
Although, this one was odd since, a rose? It was usually a piece of toast for him.
âMaybe Mahiru is accepting the engagement.â He heard Guren mumble. He looked over and saw the dark-haired teen grumbling to himself, as his hands clenched slightly. It was no secret within their cycle of friends that Guren used to have a huge crush on Mahiru, and he assumed that maybe the dark haired teen was jealous.
Honestly, the idea left a sour taste in his mind. He did love Mahiru, as a sister, but he also had a small resentment towards her. The rejection played a huge part in his perception of her, however what bothered him was Gurenâs crush on her. For two reasons: First, it played a huge part of her rejected of him, and second, although she has shown to reciprocate Gurenâs feeling, she was still selfish towards him as well. She has always been that way, she was a bit selfish, she thinks of her goals first before others, but she was his sister, he loved her and she in her own way loved them as well.
That did not stop her from pranking them however.
He noticed Guren was still sulking. It was easy to tell, the glare and his frown was slowly forming into a pout. Although many would say there isnât much difference to his features, he could tell whenever Guren was upset. It was cute, but he should clear up the misunderstanding. âAh, No. It was Kureto-niisan that made my lunch today.â
âWhat?!â Guren practically screamed, his head swiveling to his direction as if given the most horrible news of his life. âKureto?! As in your ugly mug of a brother?â He expected was some insult directed towards his brother, but this was not what he would expect.
âNow, Guren thatâs rude, Kureto-nii is not that ugly.â His brother was practically a god in the school, the number of confessions he receives speaks volumes, however there was little to do with his personality. âBesides, you knew nii-san would make me lunch in occasions.â
âHe must have placed in this because it was Valentineâs Day.â
There was a few minutes of silence, and he wondered what could be wrong with Guren this time, but instead, the dark haired teen merely looked away pointedly. It was Shinyaâs turn to frown. His best friend was acting odd, ever since this morning Guren seemed out of sorts. He would occasionally look at his direction and whenever he would give him a smile it was a scowl that greeted him.
âDo like his present?â he grumbled angrily, crossing his arms and looking at his lap. The teen was sulking, and Shinya was not quite sure what caused it.
âAre you jealous that nii-san got me a rose~?â
âEh~! Meanie~â blue eyes stared at violet ones with playfulness as Shinya extended his hand, open palmed, as if expecting something form the other teen. Â âNow that I remember, its valentineâs day and Guren should give me a present!â
âWhy should I? You have perfectly romantic present from the useless virgin.â
âEh~ but I want one from Guren.â
There was a grumble, and the silver haired teen expected the pother to merely tell him to âshut the fuck up.â Mildly, he was curious as to why instead of reprimanding him the dark haired teen merely reached into his bag. âWas he going to hit me using our text book?â he wondered as he awaited for the other to finish. He heard some shuffling as the other continued to search his bag. No one spoke, after a few more minutes the other pulled out a box. A red velvet coloured box with a cute yellow bow. And Shinya was surprised to have that very same box shoved unto his face.
âHere.âGuren grumbled, pointedly looking at the pretty box.
âHuh?â was his stupid reply, staring at the box in disbelief.
Violet eyes averted their gaze as Guren forcefully shoved the box into his hands. âYou said you wanted one from me so here.â He grumbled, the blue on his cheeks darkened as he pointedly avoided looking at him.
Of course, the shocked face of the pale male changed into that of a mischievous child, his grin wide and his eyes playful. âAh~! Guren is so sweet making me chocolates~!âwas what Shinya said, in a voice filed with mirth. The blush in the otherâs face was absolutely priceless and Shinyaâs grin got wider.âDo I get a love confession too?â
âShut up.â Guren growled and Shinya continued to giggle. âDonât think too much of it, my brother was learning to make chocolates and he managed to drag me into making some as well.â Was the otherâs explanation, his cheeks flushing more, drawing an even more mirthful laugh from the other teen.
âThis is so cute!â he laughed, chuckling as he heard Guren growl something about âshut upâ. However when his laughter died down he stared at the other with a bright smile. âThank you!â
âShut up and eat your lunch.â Guren grumbled, showing his shoulder playfully as he returned his attention to his curry.
With a smile, Shinya decided to return to his own lunch. Although he would admit to sneaking a bite from Gurenâs plate every now and then. The Other male would simply growl at him and try to swat his hands away. Â The chocolate and rose lay on his lap as he continued through his lunch, a small smile on his lips. The day hasnât been as tiring as he thought it would be.
âHey Shinya,â he heard Guren speak half way through their lunch hour, âAre you free this afternoon?â
âAh is Guren going to take me on a date?â
âNo fucking way.â He grumbled, although the light haired teen noticed the light blush on his face, âJust want to hang out.â
Before the other could even formulate a response, the door to the roof top opened. Another person entered their sanctuary, and it was one they both knew very well. Shinya could only laugh helplessly as he saw Guren glare at his older brother. Kureto and Guren do not get along, rivals through high school, and enemies even longer. They never got along as children, and Shinya was always the buffer between them, trying to keep them from fighting as much as possible.
A soon as Kureto neared, he offered Shinya a small and rare smile. âShinya.â He greeted,
Shinay observed his bother for a few seconds. There was no tenseness in his shoulders, nor is there a frown evident in his face. Kureto seemed to be relax, it was rare for his brother to seek him out at school after all. It was usually whenever there was a problem, or when Shinya did something he shouldnât have. However, at the moment his older brother seemed to be neutral. In other words Kureto was not in ta bad mood, and Shinya sighed in relief.
âAh, Kureto-niisan.â He greeted back, however, even when the other seemed to be in a relatively good mood, there was still the question: âwhat are you doing here?â
There was a few seconds of silence, however Kureto merely cleared his throat. âI thought I would have lunch with you if it was not a problem.âhe explained, lifting his own lunch as if to show proof.
There was an annoyed growl from his right, and he knew that Guren was not pleased at all. âYes, we mind. So leave.â
âHow rude Ichinose, I was not asking you.â His brother said, finally acknowledging the person beside his little brother. âNor, do I care of your opinion.â
âWhat are you even doing here?âGuren asked angrily, the glare on his face speaks volumes as to how much he did not want Kureto within the vicinity.
âAre you daft? I already said I was going to join Shinya for lunch.â The older mocked, s mug look on his face as he looked at Guren as if below him. âI see that your intelligence lacks improvement.â
âItâs not that, I just didnât hear what you said since I was distracted by the urge to punch your ugly face.â Was what the other threatened. âGo away, no useless virgins allowed.â
âThen Ichinose, you should leave.â
âI said âuseless virginsâ and that is your name after all.â
âIâm going to point out that all of us are virgins, unless one of you prove otherwise.â The argument was going too far, and Shinya finds that those two had to stop. âOh~ or maybe one of you actually did it?â
There were two painful minutes of silence, finally both blushed slightly before yell of âSHINYA!â fell from their lips. That at least got them to stop quarreling like childish five year olds. That however did not stop Shinya from laughing at their expense as both slightly embarrassed. After all, as far as Shinya knew, both were completely virgins.
âWell, jokes aside,â he attempted to say, another chuckle escaped his lips until he was fully able to compose himself, âI think itâs best that we all play nice and have a relaxing lunch!â
There was an exchanged of glares, and most likely silent threats, but in the end Kureto sat at his left. Although the dispute was settled, the air between the three of theme was thick. Even when they are in an open spaced location, it still felt suffocating. It was a silent war between the two dark haired males and Shinya found himself caught in the middle, both figuratively and literally. It wouldnât be such a problem, he was used to it, and theyâve been like this for ten years at least. However, the animosity seemed to intensify, especially whenever one would look to his lap, where his presents lay innocently.
Finally, after suffocating long enough, Shinya ventured to try and make light chatter. âAh, how was your morning?â he asked his brother, Kureto looked like a good start.
His brother was still tense, his shoulders were stiff and his brows were almost pinched together, however his stance slackened slightly and the muscles on his face relaxed. âIt was fine, it was usual classes and of course I breezed through them. Unlike someone we both know.â At the last remark he sent a pointed smirk at Guren, who merely fumed. âDid you like the present I left you?â He suddenly asked, his eyes shifting to the innocent rose on his lap.
âAh! Itâs beautiful nii-san!â Shinya praised. It was quite beautiful actually. The rose was a bright red, and it was still fresh; the petals have yet to darken and wither, and the stem was still a vibrant green. âSadly it wonât say pretty forever.â
There was a chuckle, and the sophomoreâs russet eyes held a certain kind of fondness in them. âThat is rather unfortunate.â He said, a small smile one his lips, and his hand reached to pat him lightly on the head. âI have another present at home for you, hopefully it would last longer than a measly plant.â
âEh! You just ruined the surprise.â Was what the younger whined, his smile was playful however. This was certainly a treat, his brother rarely spoiled them nowadays. âIâm so lucky to be spoiled by niiââ
âOi, stop flirting with each other and eat.â
Violet eyes were glaring at them, at his brother in particular, and Shinya knew Guren was in a foul mood. Shinya shifted his stare to his older brother and noticed the other had also gone tense. He internally groaned, he had hoped that they would have a relaxing lunch. However, it was difficult with his brother and best friend at odds with each other. He can only try to buffer them for so long.
He had to try though, âIs Guren perhaps jealous?â he asked, hoping the teasing would at least get the other to calm down enough.
âDid I hear that right?âBefore he could even ask, Kureto moved and pulled Shinya towards his broader chest. The grip was tight, almost possessive in nature. He looked to his brotherâs face and saw an angry scowl on the otherâs lips. His eyes trailed to Gurenâs and the other had a similar face. They mirrored each other, glaring at one another with an ugly scowl on their handsome faces. And he found himself at the middle.
âI knew you had an ulterior motive, Ichinose.â His brotherâs voice growled, holding him tighter as if trying to protect him from harm. âGive up Ichinose, I will not approve of this, nor will I permit you to lay a hand on Shinya.â
âI should be more worried that youâre setting your hands on my best friend.â Guren replied, his hand clenching as if anticipating a fight. âEven you donât have a chance, and donât you dare deny it, I see the way you act and look at him.â
âI have better chance that you ever will.â
âAnd as if I would let you win.â
âIs that a bet? Surely you know I will never intend to lose?â
And as they continue to argue back and forth, Shinya found that he has no idea what was going on. It sounded like a quarrel between two suitors. However, as far as Shinya knew, Guren had a crush on Mahiru and his brother had no interest on anyone. And yet, they are arguing as if they are fighting over Shinya.
âShinya, which one would you rather have as your valentine, Ichinose or I?â his brother prompted, and at that second Shinya was lost for words.
âThis cannot be happeningâ his mind screeched as he could only dumbly look at the two before him. He would have never imagined that his brother and his best friend would have feelings for him.It was flattering, but it also spelled a life of chaos for him. He knew many of the fine ladies of their school would love to be in his place right now, but he knew Guren and Kureto personally, and he also knew that having them fighting over him would not end well.
Admittedly it was cute, but the idea that he was some kind of trophy was irritation and tiring. And he knew them well enough that this would not be a peaceful competition. The competitive streak between the two males was actually frightening enough. Although Guren seemed impassive, he could actually be quite determined. It was the same for Kureto, who has shown to be stubborn and not easily deterred from his goals. He would be flattered, if he were not aware of their antics.
He was already getting a headache imagining the chaos.
âAh, itâs sweet that Guren and Nii-san think highly of me.â He started, speaking in a relaxed tone, but internally he was mentally preparing himself for the consequences. âHowever, as much as I love both of youâplatonicallyâI canât seem decide on who I would choose.â
It was better to try and evade this question as much as possible. Although he knew it would either alleviate or worsen the situation, he needed to try. Avoiding the situation was the only solution he could think of and playing neutral was a way of damage control. He loved them equally, but to choose between them in this situation was asking for trouble. The other will not back off, both are completely stubborn and as much as he wanted to date one of them, it was better to be fair.
The consequences did not sound appealing in the slightest.
There was brief moment of silence, and throughout which he noticed that his brother did not relax his protective hold. Guren on the other hand looked to be preoccupied with his thoughts. The two males seem to be soaking in his words, pensive about the situation and his choice. Shinya could feel himself sweat nervously; it was matter or acceptance of denial. And he had hoped they would consider doing the former.
âThat is to say, if I prove myself better than Guren then you would consider choosing me, right?â his brother mused, it was loud enough that all of them heard. And Shinya knew that his days of peace were over.
âDonât think so highly of yourself, he would choose me before heâd settle for you.â Guren replied, which only served to affirm Shinyaâs worries.
Days of peace were over. It is a war of conquest; Conquest for his heart.
This could be the most entertaining, or most tiring day of his life. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
He was correct however; the whole day had been tiring and draining. It was cute to some, as it would in some Shoujo manga where the protagonist is being wooed by boys fighting for her heart. It would have been cute, but it was simply tiring for Shinya. Guren and Kureto were competitive, and they were stubborn to a fault. They would have never given up, and what was worse is that they managed to rope others into their game.
The competition they agreed with was that whoever could get him the best present by the end of the day wins.
The prize? A kiss from Shinya himself.
That how he found himself with different people of the student council had approached him that day, bearing gifts from his older brother. It was cute at first, especially that white bear Aoi had given to him, she had admitted that Kureto had chosen that specific bear for him and had asked her to give it to him sometime around after lunch hour. Gurenâs group was no better, he had planned on giving him gifts throughout the day until he steeled his nerves (thatâs what Goshi said anyway when he interrogated him). He was even given a bottle of his favourite jam which Shigure handed to him. By the end of the day however, he found his hands full with gifts from both his best friend and nii-san alone.
The predicament however did not present itself until the end of school.
They both had asked him to dinner.
That is how he found himself between his brother and best friend in a walk home. Somehow he had managed to talk them into just going home for the day, which they both decided to escort him. He usually walked home alone, Guren lived the opposite way and Kureto usually stayed at school late for meetings. Now however he found himself in an awkward situation.
The walk was silent and tense as both parties were glaring each other. He was walking between them, acting as a barrier of some sort to make sure they did not lash out at each other. He would have loved to avoid this situation, but the two were insistent about âcourtingâ him. He had hoped this childish competition would have ended as soon as he rejected both of them.
He had no say in the matter as both were as stubborn as bulls.
âShinya, the day is almost over, have you chosen who you would prefer?â
That question, that damn question that left Kuretoâs mouth brought a feeling of foreboding in him. He loved them both equally, but he was not looking for a romantic relationship. He would have wanted to avoid this situation altogether.
âItâs me, right?â Guren asked, âI mean Iâm a better suitor than Kureto.â
âDo not flatter yourself, Ichinose. Shinya would choose me as he would prefer my company over yours.â Kureto retort, the glare in his face evident as he looked down upon Guren as if an insect on his shoe.
âIâm sure only the dead would prefer the company of your ego.â
âAs if your stupidity is even better, Ichinose.â
âIâm going to shave those hideous eyebrows.â
âShall I bring you to pound where you deserve?â
Theyâve started, and the light haired teen could feel the headache begin. He had counted his lucky stars as they neared the Hiragi home. As soon as the house was in sight he immediately went for the door, hoping to escape into the safety of his room and avoid those two all evening. As much as he enjoyed their company (separately) he wanted to avoid this problem that they have presented to him.
When Shinya had opened the door, however, he found himself greeted by fluff and blue eyes. It was a cat. Presented to him by the Shinoa Squad (Shinoa thought of the name). It was cute fluffy cat; its fur was white with black stripes, as if a tiger. Its cute nose was a pink colour, and the eyes were a piercing blue. Admittedly he had almost squealed and scooped down to cradle the creature into his arms.
âIâm glad you like him Shinya-nii.â He heard Shinoaâs voice, a large smile on her lips. âWe thought he would have been the perfect present when we saw him on the streets.â
âHeâs so cute! Thank you!â Shinya cried, hugging the kitten to his chest. The adorable creature let out a soft purr. âIâm going to name his Byakkomaru.â
Behind Shinoa were her friends in middle school. He was familiar with most of them as he usually volunteered to babysit most of them whenever they would come over. He was quite fond of them, usually helping them with their homework. The kids were sweet, if not violent.
âThis is best present! Thank you!â he said, giving each child a kiss on the cheek. All of which either had an embarrassed reaction, or one of pure pride (which was Shinoa). âI love him!â
âNo itâs not Shinoa, it was Yoichi who taught that Shinya would like the cat!â Yuu exclaimed, crossing his arms and giving her a reproached look, âdonât take the credit.â
âEh, but Yuu-kun, werenât you the one who insisted that Shinya would like him.â The sweet Cinnamon roll but in, his green eyes staring at the other in confusion.
The said teen flushed horribly and scowled. âI did not Yoichi!â
âYouâre too noisyââ
âShut up Telephone pole!â
âStop being rude the both of you!â the only blonde said as she tried to calm both males.
Of course, as he thanked the children for his adorable new pet, his two original suitors stood by the doorway; flabbergasted that they lost to children in their own competition. The Ashen girl looked at their way and sent them a smug look, winking at them as she returned her attention to Shinya who was giving each of the children a small hug and a promise to bake them some cookies as thanks.
What bother the two teen however is that they actually lost to children.
While Shinya considered although Valentineâs Day was a hassle, at least he had Byakkomaru.
