So fun fact that won't surprise anyone who knows me: I've done this. My job had a inclusivity survey that pissed me off (they included "transgender" and "cis gender" as possible responses for "what's your gender?", alongside "male" and "female"!) but I noticed they didn't put a length limit on the gender field if you selected "other". So...

They didn't accept binary files (which is fine, my gender isn't binary) so I had to base64 encode doom, but even though it froze chrome for nearly 8 hours, I was able to paste a full copy of the Doom install disks into the form.

as a side project while waiting on chrome to unfreeze, I developed a way to encode Doom into PNG files that could safely be posted on Twitter without them being corrupted into JPEGs, as Twitter loves to do.

I just love annotiations like this with my whole arse! I need to start doing them!

Imagine undigging an old book from a dusty attic or an antique shop and it has notes like these inside, small funny quips, evidence of love and laughter from people long past, critiques and pointers, and insight into the humour of the time and the specific demographic.

My only complaint is that, of course, physical books don't usually have the space for longer annotations, not like in the above pics where you can just make the font or entire textbox smaller so it fits.

I need to go buy a thinner pen.

Genshin Impact, currently. Every new lore drop from the story line just grabs my heart and chills it to the core.

Sumeru especially was just crazy to me, because I started playing literally the day of the big update, so I heard a lot of spoilers both big and small before I got to play them, of course, but the fact that I heard nothing - not a damn thing! - of the Samsara Cycles or the Descenders before I played through that is insane to me. Made those moments all the more gut-punching too.

Content really is a lot more fun when it hasn't been spoilered - who would have guessed?

(It's also much more fun from the other perspective. The innocence in your friend's eyes when they talk about something you know has a major twist coming up; their naive, sweet theories that make you hold back laughter and think "Oh, you sweet summer child"; getting a text or voice message at 2 am that just says "WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK". Absolute gold)

Not so much something in a game directly, but there was some old (probably 2008, again) McDonald's happy meal toy that was a PC game about faeries and dragons. I got one of the faerie discs and it looked like a lot of fun but for some reason my mum's PC could never actually run the game, most likely, the disc was a little damaged in just the wrong way. But despite trying it again and again over several months, I never could get it to even start, and in the end, I just gave up.

I still think about that game sometimes, wonder how fun it would have been had it worked.
