a worse stranger things ending
Everyone is talking about how bad the ending for Stranger Things is. Some people were in denial that it was the end. Many are even rewriting it to be better. I will rewrite it to be worse:
The events of season 5 are exactly the same up until the final episode. The main cast has just made their way into the Abyss. Will and Mike are talking.
Mike: Wow, this place sure is strange.
Will: We've seen stranger things.
As soon as the words leave his mouth he immediately gasps and starts convulsing. The screen fades to black. In the next scene he wakes up to find himself sitting face to face with Henry, dressed like Mr. Whatsit. It is revealed that he's Will's psychiatrist and the entire events of the show were the result of bad 80's hypnotism therapy to help Will overcome the trauma of having been kidnapped in season 1.
This goes on for way longer than it should with Will going home and none of his friends knowing what he's talking about, questioning who Eleven is, and asking him if he's okay because he's acting erratically. He finally accepts that it was all in his head and montages through the following days only for him and friends to go to a 7/11 (which existed) causing him to think about Eleven. He talks about her again, in kind of a "haha isn't that so weird," kind of way.
Mike: You say some strange things.
Will: I've said stranger things--
And at that moment, the prophecy is fulfilled, the one that had been mentioned off screen earlier in the season. Eleven suddenly appears in the 7/11 in a burst of light.
El: You did it, Will! You've freed yourself from the hivemind!
There is no explanation for how this happened. The fans will come up with a reason for it later.
Mike and everyone else in the 7/11 suddenly remember who Eleven is, and they all hug. The power of friendship tears a hole in the space-time continuum, and they all go in a cool tunnel that shows all of Vecna's memories like in that episode of My Little Pony where Twilight Sparkle gets wings.
Everyone is in the magic memory tunnel. The entire cast of people we're supposed to like. Even the 12 kids are there for some reason.
Except the teacher guy (he's there too) and Dustin realize that these aren't memories at all! They're actually time portals and they discovered time travel somehow. This isn't explained. The fans will do so later.
They all find the memory/time of baby Vecna Henry in the mines. Eleven punches him in the face before he can grab the funky rock but after he already has gone pyscho on the guy who shot him. Since he's a kid, the punch knocks him out. She grabs the rock instead and using her super-duper magic powers, destroys it. This means that she'd never have powers to begin with, causing a paradox that makes the time tunnel implode. Oh no, reality has been destroyed! There's a fakeout ending where the credits start to roll.
But then it cuts back to the main cast, who are all waking up in their respective beds on whatever the day Vecna was supposed to destroy the world like nothing ever happened because it didn't. Only the people in the time tunnel remember anything about the Upside Down or anything else. Everyone hugs, except Eleven isn't there because since Henry never got powers, she never needed to be an experiment, so she's living as Jane wherever she was from prior to being a lab baby. Mike declares he'll find her again since he knows she's out there, and Hopper agrees to help. He and Joyce still get married and all the respective couples end up together.
Dustin reunites with Eddie too I guess, since he wouldn't have died. Everyone else who died due to stranger things shenanigans are also not dead, except Max's jerk brother died in a car wreck in this timeline so he doesn't come back.
It ends with a dance party at senior prom next year, with Hopper and Joyce chaperoning. Max and Lucas slow dance. Eleven/Jane came as Mike's date. Will dances with a guy character no one has seen before and will never see again.
Everyone does the macarena and the show ends forever. Fans immediately question why they did the macarena when the show is set in the 80s and the song didn't come out till the 90s. Other fans answer that it must be due to the timey wimey stuff from them changing the past. The Duffer Brothers shrug and don't say anything for once.
