I got a rant. And I don’t have much of an audience here anymore, but I need to say this somewhere. This isn’t about anyone on tumblr, it’s about Josh fan accounts on Instagram.

Labeling specific people as “toxic fans” and subsequently encouraging that they be bullied for their difference of opinion, is in fact, toxic and mean.

Yesterday, a fan account (run by one of the most deeply committed, loyal, and passionate Josh fans there is), was using their Instagram ask feature as a platform to let her followers voice their thoughts and engage in a discussion. Critical thinking is not disrespectful. This was something I had to grasp in the past. The person who runs this fan account has been here almost as long as I have, and is still active in posting and supporting Josh. It sincerely bothers me that she is being repeatedly targeted by those who preach vehemently about respecting others. You cannot ask for respect and not give it. Especially in the midst of everything else that’s going on in the world.

If you want to know why Josh doesn’t like social media, namely Instagram, listen to him on Chris Hardwick. He explains it. And he doesn’t mention “bad fan accounts”.

Some foreign press has picked up on Josh's stalled career and disheveled appearance, it translated as "metamorphosis" but like not in a good way. Which leads me to ask, do you think this is going to end up in more main stream publications? More widespread commentary that Josh has failed to capitalize on his former fame and now just drifts along the bottom of the celebrity pond?

I did see those and I was bothered by them. One even said he looked “neglected”.

My worry is if he isn’t in a great mental headspace, that stuff ending up on bigger gossip sites could do more damage.

I’m glad you’re not only talking about the damage this could do to his career, but to him personally. It’s in moments like this that I realize press doesn’t care about the fact that they’re writing about a human being. He’s clearly not in a good place and I understand that his career may be the last of his worries at this point. Having that spread out is certainly not going to help him. 

But whatever juicy gossip people can spread is publicity, and publicity is money. But this goes at the cost of someone’s well being. And that makes me sad, it’s disgusting. 

I hope he can figure out a way to get out of this and be himself again. Not just for his career, that will be a by - product of his healing, but for himself. I don’t think he can do that alone, that’s okay, a lot of people would need help. My worry is that no one around him seems to care about him in that way.

Yes to both of these!! I have been worried about his health and well being for a very long time. Too often we look at someone's career and ask "why aren't they working?" We forget there is way more going on. It's easy to stand out side the fishbowl and judge the fish inside, but we have no idea the pain that fish may be in. There is so much more to this story. I really hope he is able to pull through this...

He may have showered but he still arrived to a charity event with scuffed shoes -and a T-shirt that lost it’s shape and original crisp white color.

I kinda have to agree with this. I am very glad to see him getting out and supporting a great cause first and foremost, along with being seen with some bigger actors. There are some pics that are better than others from this event, but looking at him next to Rob and Armie, he still looks unkempt to me. 😕

I agree. He needs to stop emulating that disgusting musician from Spain and be his own man. You want curly hair. Ok I can handle that, let Jerry give you a style you can wear that looks clean. For goodness sakes shave that hot mess of a beard and mustache! You are a good looking dude, start looking the part!

I feel like no one talks about Josh anymore so there's no real discourse about what's going on. So Sammy, what is going on with Josh in those new pics? He looks so rough and bad and I don't think he washed or brushed his hair? What's going on? Why? What happened?

Dude, I wish I knew. When I heard there were new pictures, AND from an event like the Hulu Holiday Party, I got super excited…only to be so disappointed.

In my opinion, having seen photos of the other Hulu actors there, he stood out poorly. And yes, I can see the rest of the FM group went casually dressed as well, but Josh’s hair and beard just looked awful. And you all know it takes a lot for me to say that.

Josh seems to go through phases, where he appears to get his shit together, he starts looking better, goes out and gets seen with fans/at hip places, then we regress totally and go back to square one. He attended a Hulu event back in May and he looked very nice. Had a hair cut, was shaved, had a nice jacket and slacks on. Now, we are back at square one. I tend to think he reflects the style and hygiene of the people around him, especially those from Spain. There, I said it.

I ask myself why no one appears to be trying to help. His mother, most especially. I understand he’s a grown man, but at some point, one would think, as his business partner as well, she’d speak up. Unless she’s tried, and he’s just not willing to listen. Which is also a real possibility.

I shared those pictures on my personal Twitter, and a lot of old Josh fans from tumblr (who have since moved on) commented and they were shocked. 

If he wants to fade away from fame and Hollywood, that’s his choice, of course, but it will be such a waste. Many of the fans who are left still genuinely want to support him, we just have nothing positive to support right now. And it’s both frustrating and sad.

Update: one of the special effects crew members posted that it will be out in January. 

I’m guessing since there are fewer episodes, it’s taking less time than previous seasons. We’ll see.

Every day we get some new info - like her dress had its own room. This is called extending the story to keep yourself in the news - release smaller nuggets every day to keep stories going. Maybe they’re working toward a reveal. Maybe they aren’t. We’ll see.

No primary source media have said he was there. Hollywood Reporter deleted him because he likely wasn’t there. Also, a friend of Josh’s posted a pic of him in LA on Friday so it seems he was in LA the day before the big big day. Until People or E or Page Six gives a longer list of attendees, I’d say he wasn’t there. And neither was Woody it seems.

I do try to hold onto the bubbly colloquial Aussie way of not taking things too seriously.
