âIf youâre talking about the newest one then I actually donât. I have them on my DVR but I havenât watched them yet. I was kind of hoping that I would be able to watch them with someone but yeah ... I donât see that happening.â

âThat actually sounds really, really nice. But if my mom doesnât hear from me, sheâll end up thinking I fled the country or something.â Linny looked down at her phone then hesitantly held it out to Angel. âHere, just take it. I donât even care right now, I just need a break from all of this.â

Reck: I can probably do that.
Reck: So long as this isn't a plot to murder me.
Linny: Well let me know, I guess. I can book the hotel and everything once you tell me when so all you have to do is pack your stuff.
Linny: No, I'm not going to murder you. Do you really think I hate you enough to murder you?
Linny: I'm trying to be nice. You want to be friends so I'm trying to focus on being friends. We can ignore all that other stuff for now.
Linny: This whole thing's just been really stressful and I hate feeling this out of control. I haven't really been myself lately. Or, well, I guess I have been ... it's just some of my more negative qualities.
Linny: I'm just not that way most of the time, that's what I'm trying to say. And I probably went a little too far. I'm sorry.

Linny: Do you think you can get a day or two off of work?
Linny: I think we should go somewhere. Like, just you and me.
Linny: No marriage talk, no mention of the wedding, I'll even shut my phone off so my mom can't text me every five minutes about any of it.
Linny: We can do something fun. Whatever you want to, as long as it's not around here. This whole place is becoming really suffocating.

He didnât even attempt to hide his irritation at her words. âIf Avalon wasnât so passionate about being a lawyer, sheâd be a professional baker. We wont find anybody better than her on the entire West Coast.â Truthfully, even if she wasnât such a great baker, he would have asked her to do it anyways. There was really no way around their wedding feeling clinical, but if he could involve people he cared about in the smaller details, it might feel more intimate and loving. âIf youâd rather be like every other rich kid couple, I can tell her I changed my mind and weâre going to spend a thousand dollars on a basic wedding cake instead.â Reck took a deep breath and brought himself back in check. This was not the time or place for one of their arguments. âYouâre right, Mads. I should have said something to you first.â Why was apologizing to her so much harder than apologizing to anybody else? âIâm sorry.â Reck rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand, feeling bashful and guilty as Linnyâs mother fawned over them. He was a business man so fibbing wasnât anything new to him, but he wasnât immune to feelings of guilt and regret. Their motherâs matching grins tugged at his heart strings. Pressing a quick kiss to Linnyâs temple, he let go of her hand and hugged both of their mothers. As he was letting go of his mom, she whispered âthank youâ into his ear which only added to his guilt. âIt might be kind of cold for pictures on the beach in December,â He moved back over towards Linny, all smiles and charm, âBut, then again, we have each other to keep warm.â
âYou would say that even if she made us a cake made out of prepackaged mix just because sheâs your best friend,â Linny said, biting the inside of her lower lip as he spoke more. âFine. If you want her to make it, just fucking fine.â There was a lot more that she wanted to say but she knew if she didnât stop herself, there was no way the venue would even consider having their wedding there. Getting banned from a venue wasnât going to look good to their families at all. His apology at least calmed her down enough for her to be able to set the issue aside for the time being. She was completely caught off guard by Reck kissing her temple and she was almost positive that it showed on her face. Their mothers certainly couldnât expect them to be completely comfortable with each other though, so she quickly hid it with a smile and hoped that it wasnât brought up. âThat was beyond cheesy,â she said, unable to keep herself from laughing when he said that they had they would have each other to keep warm. â But I guess it would be true. We could take some pictures with a blanket around us too, that could be cute. I want at least a few out there if we do it here, then we can find somewhere else to take the rest of them.â
âWhat have I done all day? I didnât skip all my classes to watch The Walking Dead on Netflix if thatâs what youâre asking.â
âLook I donât make the rules. You have to be twenty-one to drink and I need to see your licenses. Itâs a policy and I donât want to get my license taken away.â
âFine, I was just saying that the other bartender doesnât put up this much of a stink about it. I come here all the time. Here, look at it all you want.â
âDo you need something?â
âOh sorry, was I staring or something? I was just stuck in my own thoughts.â

How had their conversation managed to stray this far? Donovan felt horrible for pouring all of this on her at once. He could of kept it to himself, he should have, but he cared for her. He liked her and at this time..probably more than he should. She was engaged, suppose to marry someone else and it wasnât him. Donovan knew this wasnât easy for her either and usually he was better at thinking beyond his own selfish needs, but this was so sudden. Nothing about this seemed ânormalâ or like how they usually were when they spoke and he knew it was his fault. His brows lifted as she spoke,lips parted as he peered over at her, â Seriously?..â For a moment he was without words. He was so surprised that she thought it would even be possible for him to move so quickly. â That sounds a little bit like an oxymoron to me, especially considering that youâre already engaged. Iâm not trying to push you onto anyone unless itâs me and even then itâs still wrong. I donât want anyone elseâŠjust you. â Pearly whites sunk into lower lip as he bared his feelings to her. It wasnât easy for him to do especially since this probably wasnât easy to hear. â âŠ-then I donât know what to tell you aside from how I feel. I canât make the choice for you and I even feel horrible telling you how I feel, because Iâm just getting in the way. Are you sure things just arenât working because you both have feelings for someone else? â
Even though this conversation was far from a pleasant one, it comforted her to hear that he still wanted her. She had been trying not to think about it, but she knew that it would crush her to see him with someone else. âIâm not engaged by choice so Iâd hardly consider it wrong. Itâs a business arrangement at best. Just because Iâm technically engaged to him doesnât mean I suddenly developed feelings for him or something. If it was an engagement I entered into willingly then yeah, having feelings for you would be wrong. I mean look, I donât even wear the ring. Itâs in a box on my dresser.â She held her hand out to show him that she didnât have it on. As she continued to listen to him she couldnât help but smile slightly. Linny looked around to make sure Reck and James werenât around then slowly inched her hand closer to Donovanâs. âYou arenât getting in the way at all, donât think of it like that. I would choose you over him any day. Itâs a little more complicated than just refusing to do it though ... If we donât get married, he likely wonât get a job heâs worked for his whole life. I guess it really comes down to if my happiness is worth the guilt of messing that up for him. Not that he wants to get married or anything, I know he doesnât. It really wouldnât surprise me if he had feelings for Avalon ... theyâre really close. Like, so close that even if we did get married heâd probably end up having an affair with her or flat out divorcing me to run off with her before we hit our five year anniversary.â
Sorry for being MIA this last few days. Iâve been babysitting and working on stuff for my etsy so I havenât had much free time BUT Iâm finally kid free for the next few days which means Iâll be able to be on a lot more. After I finish this hat Iâm working on for my shop Iâm going to get on and reply to starters. ALSO if we havenât plotted yet, like this and Iâll message you when I get on :D EDIT: oh and this also goes for Asher, for those of you that don't know that I play him too
âAlright, yeah, youâre right. Iâm sorry. To be clear though, I didnât call you controlling. All I said is that you canât try to control him, which in no way insinuates that you are controlling in general. I understand your logic, okay. I just didnât realize you had that much of say in the matter as to call it off if you didnât feel a certain way for each other. Look, honestly, I donât know why Iâm even getting involved in the first place. This argument is yours and his to have, not ours. And for the record I think you should both get what you want, it just doesnât seem as though thatâs a possibility in this situation.â
âYou said I was trying to control him, which does mean you think I was being controlling. You canât mean one without meaning the other. It isnât that we have that much of a say in it. We were planning on pretending to try then telling them it didnât work so hopefully they would let it go because we would have at least given it a shot. But if I donât marry him, Iâm literally going to lose everything. My parents are going to hate me. James is going to hate me. Iâm almost positive that theyâll disown me because this is the only thing theyâve asked of me. If I refused theyâll be calling me a spoiled, ungrateful brat just like James was. I like that my brother is happy with me. I like that my mom is actually proud of me and wants to talk to me every day. My dad is even happy with me and he hasnât been happy with me in so long. I canât just give that up that easily. I donât want to. I want to make them all happy, but I want to be happy too. If we can all be happy and Reck gets what he wants and his family is happy, itâll all be worth it. But if Reck and I canât be happy together, Iâm going to have to refuse to do it and accept the consequences. I havenât been the best person lately but neither has Reck, despite the fact that you think he can do no wrong. We could both be better towards each other.â

Reck: I don't know if you're ignoring the parts where I say I don't hate you, you don't repulse me, and I have thought about your feelings, or what, but I don't hate you, you don't repulse me, I have thought about your feelings, and I certainly care about you more than a stranger.
Reck: Fine. We'll figure out what to do with it later.
Reck: You're kind of contradicting things you said earlier, but I appreciate you looking out for my future. I do love that job and I want it so badly, but I'm not sure it's worth the fighting. For me or for you. I don't want to spend the rest of my life walking on eggshells hoping not to start up an argument, and I don't want that for you either. You deserve to be happy and so do I.
Reck: You're right, things might be different if we'd been friends the past five years, but, we weren't, there's no point dwelling on it. Or feeling guilty.
Linny: Yeah well you certainly have a weird way of showing it.
Linny: Fine.
Linny: Because I get frustrated and upset and I say things that I don't mean. And I really had no intentions on even telling you that it was part of the reason I was considering it. This whole thing is just confusing and overwhelming and stressful and it feels like you're not helping with anything which just makes me more stressed and overwhelmed and confused.
Linny: I don't want to spend the rest of my life like that either. I want to be happy. But what if there's some kind of chance that we could be happy together? I know it doesn't seem possible right now but that was all I was trying to figure out. If there is a chance, why shouldn't we actually try? Our families would be happy, I would still have mine, and you'd get the job you want. It just doesn't make sense to not try when not trying means automatically giving up all those things.
Linny: I know I haven't been the best person to be around so I don't blame you for not thinking it's worth it. I shouldn't be taking everything out on you when we're supposed to be on the same team. I'm sorry.

Reck: Like I said, I'm done fighting with you and I don't hate you. I'm sorry that you're crying. I don't know how to stop that seeing as everything I do and say makes things worse, so it's probably best if I don't say anything.
Reck: Well, the house is yours, if you want it. I wont be there, so you'd have it to yourself.
Linny: I don't know why I even bothered saying anything to you. It's completely pointless. You'd be more concerned about a stranger on the street.
Linny: I don't want it. I want nothing to do with it. Sell it, rent it out, leave it there, move into it with the person you actually marry, I don't care.
Linny: You know, part of the whole reason I was trying to figure out if we could make this work is so you could take over your parents company. I wanted to be able to help you get something that you had worked your whole life for. I would have married you and risked the possibility of us never being more than friends just to give you something that you wanted more than anything. I really didn't think trying to do something nice would turn into this. I wanted to make up for being the reason we didn't get along for so long because you were right, if I had just told you what you did then things could have been completely different. I thought that me being okay with getting married would put us off to a better start because you would be happy about that.
Linny: I just wanted to see if there was even the tiniest chance that we could be something more than friends even if it's years from now. I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. I'm not saying we can't be friends. I want us to be friends. We can call us spending time together whatever you want, I'm just trying to make sure we don't end up stuck in a marriage that is nothing more than roommates who happen to have a piece of paper that say they're husband and wife.
Linny: And I'm not trying to fight with you right now. I'm trying to talk to you.

Angel: hey, are you okay?
Angel: i've heard that you're not really doing well, so i was wondering if you'd like to come over and we can have a sleepover?
Angel: like when we were kids?
Linny: Okay doesn't even exist in my vocabulary anymore. I can't even make an arranged marriage work. The worst part is that he has an incentive to marry me and he still thinks it isn't worth it. And all this came about from me asking to go on a date. I should have called it "hanging out", then maybe it wouldn't have turned into this.
Linny: But yeah, that would be amazing. I don't want to be in this house anymore.
Linny: And I could really use some time around someone that I know actually cares about me.
