What I really like about 'High Potential' (besides Kaitlin Olson getting the spotlight) is it's finally a "genius" and/or crime-solving character who doesn't act like a cold, rude asshole. Well, unless she's confronting a cold, rude asshole. She's affected by crime scenes and upset families instead of being apathetic or annoyed.
It's not that hard to escape the strict Sherlock model. It shouldn't be this rare.
ugh i’m so happy to see high potential appreciation on here!! such a small fandom but with the s2 renewal hopefully we can grow it
also completely agree with you here her character’s definitely a different take on the ‘genius’ trope
More high potential appreciation! I love that EVERYTHING about Morgan is counter to the typical 'genius' that we've seen portrayed; The way she dresses, the way she talks, the way she eats, she isn't a loner and already has a family, knowledgeable about everything including pop culture, and while still socially awkward she's empathetic and cares about others so, so much.
That and she's hilarious as hell. This show is a perfect love-letter to the crime procedurals that were always playing on TV when I was growing up. But it's matured with the time.
Every episode got better and better and I'm so stoked about season 2! If you need something to watch that's fun and hopeful to settle down after your day, I highly recommend this.
But speaking of genius detectives, I'm also super stoked for the upcoming show, 'The Residence' starring the wonderful Uzo Adoba.
