Pushing his way inside the house once they arrived Ryland pointed up the stairs “my roommate is probably gone actually in classes or some shit, so Blue tell me why are you so sad?”

Blue shook his head at the other boy’s answer but didn’t push it further, just grateful for the distraction in general. “Would you really push off your own wedding for ours? That’s really nice of you, but you should marry the stranger, I don’t have a very good track record.” He said, following after the other boy. “Have you not noticed our frat going to shit? I feel partly responsible for it. You like Kappa, don’t you?”

if he was angry at her about spring break it was far away from his mind. no way her actions in australia could’ve been the cause of this. “i’m so sorry, blue.” she says, giving his shoulder a soft squeeze before placing her things neatly on the ground to assist him in getting his things. organizing them as only maya could she color coordinated his stack and handed it to him, “what do you say we get some froyo? it always cheers me up. you can have all the sprinkles you want!”

Blue was grateful to have Maya as a friend, she was patient and understanding with him, and he actually smiled when he noticed her color coordinating his belongings. It was quirky but he loved her. “You wouldn’t happen to be offering me pity froyo would you, Maya?” He teased.

Schuyler shook his head. “You know, whenever someone says they don’t mean to do something, they totally meant to do the thing.” He tried to shake the water off. “I’m fine. It’s just water man. “You’re right, I did mean to laugh, but not at you. Just the unfortunate situation.” Blue said, still grinning at the other boy. “If we’re gonna do a car wash you’re gonna have to share the water, Schuy, are you gonna be okay with that?” He teased, raising an eyebrow at the other boy. “But a dunk tank would be fun. I’ve always wanted to dunk someone but when I was little I was too weak to actually even make it to the target.”

The blonde didn’t initially even hear someone call out her name; she was too bummed out in her own little bubble to even care what was going on around her - until she noticed a figure standing above her. She started listening, almost automatically recognising the voice but before she could’ve looked away - he noticed her tears. “I-I’m fine.” she mumbled out, gulping as she tried to force herself to give him a smile. It didn’t work, in fact, it only made it worse as she sucked in her lips, looking back down. “I’m sorry.”

Blue hesitated, reaching forward to gently hold her hand but was unsure at how she’d react at the contact, before just deciding to go for it, grabbing her hand and giving it a squeeze. “You don’t have to apologize to me.” He said firmly, “What’s wrong? I know you won’t say anything to anyone and keeping it bottled up isn’t good for you. You can talk to me, I won’t tell anyone.”

She started shaking her head, dismissing his apologies as soon as she saw the state he was in. She wasn’t the friendliest or the most-approachable people on campus, nor did she liked showing emotions, but Blue.. he was a friend. “It’s fine, Blue. I’m fine, don’t worry about it.” she told him, standing up. “- you on the other hand.. you don’t look so good.” 

Blue knew he really must have looked awful if Liv, usually the toughest girl he knew, could read right through him and call him out. “That obvious?” He mumbled, clambering up after her. “I’m just stressed out. I’m usually good at ignoring stress but I’ve learned the hard way that you can’t do that all the time.”

Grabbing his friend by the arm, he dragged him out, sitting him down on one of the benches outside the building. “Life is kicking your ass? Then what all is going wrong? You can tell me. I’m known to be a good listener and it might be good for you to get it all out as bottling things up is never a good thing.”

Blue let his friend pull him outside, sort of giving into the fact that he was going to have to open up to the other boy. “I’m just really in over my head with my frat. I feel useless. And if I wasn’t pathetic enough as it is, I miss my husband who left me. Again.”

Isaac frowns at his reflection, one hand coming up to gently touch around the spot. He adjusts the spoon he’s using to see, wincing as he touches a particularly sore spot. “Fucking damn.” He mutters, hanging his head while he lets the spoon drop to the table. The wet hand towel lay next to the abandoned spoon, an ice pack across from it.

“That looks like some pretty nasty bruising you got there.” Blue mumbled gently when Isaac came into view, “How’d you get that? Did... someone hurt you? On purpose?”

“What sorta lives d'you think we’d be leadin’ if we didn’t have hardships to deal with?” The question was a strange mixture between genuine and rhetorical, Ruby walked with her eyes on the sidewalk, her thumb on the outside of Blue’s palm tracing circles. “I mean– I think if utopia existed we’d all be almost robotic, hm? Things like this make us human.” Her face heated at his compliment, shaking her head in vehement denial. “You never have to thank me for anything, Blue, I’ll always take care of you when you need me, besides you’d do the same for me. You have done the same for me, remember? You were there for me at my lowest I think.” There was humor and amusement in her voice as she remembered the time a little better now than when she was going through it. “You’re not a burden.” Her voice was firm and reassuring, as if to ensure he know that she meant it and there would be no arguments behind it. It didn’t take too long to reach the Kappa Gamma house and within minutes she had tea in thermoses for the both of them. “C'mon, lets try and forget all your troubles even if it’s just for a little while.”

And of course, again she was right. Even when all seemed low and hopeless Ruby somehow figured out ways to make everything come to perspective, making the bad seem much less horrible. Blue admired her. “No, you’re right. I’m a bit of a limp noodle emotionally, I’ve always sort of ignored the hardships life used to throw at me but... this is a learning curve, I guess. Promise me you won’t let me get married again until I’ve at least graduated.” He chuckled, nudging her gently. Ever humble as she was, Blue tsked her, more than happy to always prove his love for her. “You know I’d do anything for you. You’re my person, you can trust me with anything. I love you with all of my giant heart, Ru.” Blue knew that his best friend could never see him as a burden ever, no matter how scared he was about annoying Ruby. If she ever even got annoyed. It’d been a while since the two had had a sleepover, they used to be almost every day and Blue had missed her company more than ever, especially now when he felt so low and she was making him tea the way she used to every day. “Ruby by chance would you want to run away with me?” He teased.

“Take a break from studying man, it’ll be there later.” He tried to tell his friend, looking at the books he had in his hand. “As the social chair, you also need to take a break from worrying about Kappa, that’s another thing to worry about when your grades are good.” He shrugged, a smile on his lips. “But it made you smile, so it’s a win. I’m a musician, not a comedian.”

Blue looked over at his friend, the only term for his gaze that was appropriate at the moment would probably be ‘heart eyes’. “I know you’d drop dead before saying it out loud but I know you love me. So I’ll take a break for you.” He settled, “Your jokes are terrible but you’re still very funny. I think you should be a singing comedian.”
