Elvira dr - Birth, Death, and The After
*tw, talk of death, funerals, religion, the afterlife
Associated with beginnings, new starts, and new experiences, birth in Elvira is a gentle welcome into the kingdom. Parents often choose to have crystals, scented oils, candles, and magical objects at their child's Start, saying things like: "we want our child to have love and compassion; we should have rose quartz at their Start!"
Names in Elvira often sound gentle, ending with vowels. E.g. Luna, Dreina (dr-ay-na), Feli (fee-lie)
Additionally, names are often themed around nature, animals, and plants. E.g. Lotus, Amaryllis, Robin, Pixie
Birthdays are celebrated fondly. On someone's birthday, it's tradition that they try something new, something that they've wanted to do but never had. This is to truly appreciate life, to welcome new experiences with each year. What someone does may vary for each person. For some, they wish to travel, to explore something new, to get an adrenaline rush. For others, it could be as simple as trying a new food, learning a new skill, or reading that book that's been collecting dust on your shelf.
Death isn't feared in Elvira. This is partly because there are many beliefs about the afterlife, which treat death not as an end but as a new beginning. But it's also because it's considered peaceful, a deep rest, and for those that don't believe in an afterlife, it's like coming home after a long trip.
Many people associate death with truth, saying "there are no lies in the dark", a phrase that's been adopted into everyday life to tell someone to be honest. Spiritclaws reflect this belief — that you become your true form in death, who you are inside, without the constraints of the circumstances of life.
Funerals in Elvira are beautiful, returning the body to nature, surrounded by their favourite flowers. For some, they wish to return to the fields, to the meadows, to the forest. For some, they wish to return to the waves, the current. And for others, they belong to the fire, to the ash. Wherever the body is placed, their chosen flowers are put ontop. Then, things that resemble them or belonged to them are gathered to create a remembrance alter.
One belief in Elvira is that we get reincarnated, often into magical beings, such as unicorns, sprites, or pixies.
Another is that our souls disperse into the world, becoming part of it, causing flowers to grow and keeping the tides flowing.
Some believe that we become stars, a new one forming of our soul when we die. The prophecies told from the stars are treated as advice coming from someone whose lived it before. The stars lead the way, our ancestors guiding us.
And of course, many believe in a higher power — a being or energy who created the world. They often believe that their death causes their birth in another realm or unknown place, usually the home of the creator, a place of rest.
And then there are people who believe that death is simply a peaceful rest at the end of a journey.
I wonder what I'll do on my birthdays... eek it'll be so much fun!!
