Salutations, I’m Wynn! I’m 16 years old, transmasc and gay. I use he/him pronouns :33

Things I love are: Deltarune and Zelda (mainly wild era)!! I have interests in Undertale, Omori, Earthbound/The Mother Series, Animal Crossing, Tomodachi Life, The Marvin Trilogy/Falsettos, Heathers, Legally Blonde, Mean Girls, Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared and Popee the Performer too!! However Deltarune and Zelda are my primary interests currently. :DD

My favourite characters are: Berdly, Revali, Urbosa, Zelda, Susie, Link, Kris, Noelle, Tenna and Ralsei.

My favourite ships are: Kerdly, Suselle, Revalink, Zelpha, Spamtenna and Zelink!

For music, I like: Lemon Demon, music from the media about but ESPECIALLY Toby Fox/UTDR music, Dazey and the Scouts and Talkshow Boy. I’m open to music suggestions! My favourite song right now is Geeks In Love (I’m so Kerdly Pilled), but it changes often. :)

Okok, so this is my luke warm take on the Berdly hate–

I love his character, but I admit it's fine, valid even, to hate him. It's valid to hate any character for no reason at all or for any (reasonable) reason. Yeah, even if people like to defend them a lot (like I like defending him).

My problem with ->SOME<- (notttt all, this is slightly targeted) Berdly dislikers/haters is how they'll talk about his character. How? Well, they either

1. Don't bother to look at him for more than 2 seconds, and end up spreading misinformation and dismissing his role in the story (e.g. "he's in love with Noelle", "he copies all of his work from Noelle", "Kris hates him", "his only purpose is annoying the player", etc.)

2. Exagerate his flaws or invent new ones to bash him (e.g. "he's an (actual) incel", "he's homo/transphobic", when they make him one of those creeps, etc.)

3. Or straight up justify any undeserved stuff he faces non-ironically (e.g. "he deserved the Snowgrave" and "his parents would be on their right to dislike (neglect) him")

I'm not some dictator who'll tell people who to like, but a lot of the discourse surrounding Berdly feels disingenuous (and I'm not the first to notice at all). There's valid reasons for why someone would dislike Berdly– hell, you don't even need a reason! And I do admit that some Berdly fans can be intense/bossy about disliking him.

But a lot of people just end up mischaracterizing him or low-key victim blaming him when doing the hate, and while I don't agree with the idea of "you shouldn't hate Berdly", I would– yk, appreciate if the more intense haters didn't actively hate on a version of his character that never existed in the first place.

Might sound weird, but every time a Berdly hater admits that they don't think he deserved to get snowgraved I feel happy; I respect the capability of hating a character without slandering them tbh, even if the character they hate is my favorite.

Tl;dr: It's totally fine to hate Berdly, even if some fans say it's not, I just wish people didn't justify his misfortunes (get it) and use OOC stuff to do so.

No definitely! Just hating Berdly is fine!! Most of the people I talk to irl and online hate Berdly. The issues stem because some Berdly haters say things along the lines of “he deserved to get snowgraved” or “he deserves to die” or yea just making up things like him “being a creep”. I think people forget Berdly is a teenager. A teenager that has a poor home life and has to deal with everyone either not liking him or not seeing him. It’s fair game to hate Berdly, I mean I know people who act a bit like him irl and I don’t get on best with them. But can we not wish death on him? Again, he is a teenager simply acting how teenagers do…and it’s really strange that makes people that angry that they want him dead. I find Berdly annoying (I think that’s a normal opinion to have), but I don’t want him dead because of it. However, maybe I am biased because I actually am a Berdly fan. Also Berdly fans have to stop forcing others to like Berdly…that’s also not good…let people have their own opinions.

Don’t think about Berdly’s home life. Don’t think about how we’ve seen neither hide nor feather of anyone responsible for raising a child who views affection as purely conditional and who based his identity on being The Smart Kid after winning a single spelling bee. Don’t think about why a teenager who clearly struggles with spatial reasoning and real-time thinking without any guidance feels like asking for help is actually cheating and cannot identify his real strengths and weaknesses. Don’t think about why a high school student feels the need to be working at least two charity jobs during a school week and over weekends, in addition to remaining top student, yet cannot accept that title as genuine due to the aforementioned assistance. Don’t think about how this child will do mental gymnastics to try and rationalize why someone would be genuinely nice unless they have some sort of romantic interest. Don’t think about how no one bothers to remember this kid’s name, or how even the more reasonable adults in town regard him with such disdain. Don’t think about why the one thing that brought him over to your side was that you’d accept him even if he’s stupid, or why no one gives a damn when he’s rendered comatose by your very own actions, with Kris having to drag his unconscious body to the hospital while everyone else just laughs off his dire state. Don’t think about the fact that the same woman who lovingly gives Susie a pep talk and hot chocolate will threaten to smoke bomb a simple request for an overdue librarby book. Don’t think about the fact that Berdly is left alone with his thoughts for the majority of chapters 2 and 4, worried about what his friends really think of him while the whole joke is that he was ditched purposely, after bending over backwards to convince he’s worth something to people who never give him the time of day.

Berdly’s just a joke character guys, he’s clearly just an egocentric brat who was like this from the start and he’s not going to be relevant or develop further later on, you shouldn’t be thinking about that.
