I'm currently reblogging all my writing from Tumblr here, which is taking longer than expected, and then I'll start including current updates for ongoing fics.
For now, the major fandoms are:
- Once Upon a Time
- Detroit: Become Human
- Doctor Who
There will also be several minor fandoms, and possible reblogs of throwback fics.
Well, I did something. I updated Somewhere between the soul and soft machine, which I hadn't touched since last April, and it shows. I felt rusty writing words, and was displeased with the finished chapter. But it's up, and maybe that will help clear the blockage in my brain.
This is something I wanted to do, to see if it will help me write. Last year, I wrote a total of 17,392 words, which is a huge drop from the 82,160 words I wrote in 2024. I had some lofty goals: a monthly update of a long fic I want to complete, one new short fic a month, possibly one new fandom a month, and try to finish one fic a month, since I have a few shorts that I could easily do with motivation.
I did none of that this month.
Technically, I didn't write anything; what I did was upload a couple of the ancient fic fragments on my hard drive that I'll probably never do anything with. I also added one that I immediately deleted; I had a Good Omens fic I'd been working on but gave up on, I added that to "Tales From the Hard Drive" to satisfy my new fandom goal, then I realized I didn't want that fandom associated with me, so I deleted it.
So I honestly accomplished nothing this month.
However, I'm still burned out from the holidays, and have only recently started getting multiple days off in a row, so I'm hoping to finally wind down and actually sit and write. And also, I have laptop issues which make writing harder, and I think that puts me off it, too.
This should never have taken five years to finish. But I think I got hung up on what the plot should be, when it's supposed to just be a slice of life fic that doesn't need a plot.
So here we are. It's not my best work, but at least it's not hanging over my head anymore.
-------
It turned out Killian was not, in fact, having a heart attack. Probably a good thing, since he’d read that squids had three of them, and that didn’t sound like a good time.
Once Emma explained the situation again and Granny calmed down - mostly - things became business as usual. The humans ordered coffee, which Killian eyed wistfully, and waited to place their food order because Neal had spent the night with a friend and was supposed to be meeting them in the diner.
Fortunately, Emma’s loud explanation had reached every eavesdropping ear in the diner, and no one else questioned Hope the Squidlet. Killian even overheard a few people commenting how adorable she was as she floated lazily in the water globe at Killian’s side, finally exhausted from her earlier antics.
He doubted that would last long.
Indeed, once Neal arrived and Hope spotted her favorite uncle, Killian once again had to catch the high speed missile that was his daughter, while Snow explained Hope’s new condition. Neal pouted throughout (he was fascinated by shape-shifters and a bit put-out that he wasn’t included in last Halloween’s transformation fiasco), and Killian thought he saw the boy eyeing his tentacles thoughtfully. Killian tucked them in, in case Neal decided to give cursing himself a try.
After brunch, they take a family stroll through the park, spending time in the open playing frisbee with Wilby. And Hope, who’s absolutely delighted that she’s now mobile enough to chase her favorite doggy.
Killian, meanwhile, remained tense beside the picnic table by the pond, where the rest of the family had taken a seat. The geese were out in force today, and he’d never trusted the feathered bastards. And after being chased by one larger than he was, every deranged honk made him tense up in fear.
He would not be telling Archie in their sessions that he had PTSD from a goose.
Once Neal, Hope, and Wilby were exhausted - or, rather, once David was exhausted and Neal teased him for being old - they went for ice cream before heading home.
Watching a baby squid eat ice cream was something that was going to give Killian nightmares. Hope vacuumed the strawberry treat into her mouth in one go, and strawberry syrup ran out the sides of her beak and threaded into the water like blood. On the up side, he didn’t have to worry about cleaning ice cream off her skin and clothing.
Jones came home with Emma and Killian, as he preferred to do when they were in their shifting phase. With their pack bond, it was like another piece of Killian had just slotted into place.
They headed to the back yard, where Emma typically conjured up little pools for them. Individual pools, partly because they were big animals and the pools were small, and partly because Killian may have been a teeny bit of a bastard when it came to teasing his grumpy crocodile duplicate.
There was still a kiddie pool from earlier, and Killian rolled straight towards it, tugging Hope after. “Hold on a moment,” Emma said, eying the pool thoughtfully. “I’ve been working on a little something. I think now’s the perfect time to give it a try. Stand back, everyone.” She held her hands over the small pool, eyes narrowed in concentration. The water shivered, then began to swell upward and outward, in a far greater volume than the pool should have been able to hold.
Emma had become quite proficient in creating temporary pools, as well as devising a spell that kept the water clean without chlorine, much to Killian’s relief. His first encounter with the chemical had been itchy.
But this? This was something else entirely. It was similar to the globes of water she’d created, but on a much larger scale. And it was only half a sphere, a bowl of shimmering water held trembling in an iridescent membrane. It was deep enough for the three of them to actually swim in!
“It won’t last more than a few hours,” Emma said apologetically. “But I think we’ll enjoy it more than the kiddie pools.”
Kilian wished he had his vocal cords to tell her how amazing it was, how amazing she was, but all he could manage was the twisted tentacle version of a thumbs up that they’d worked out.
As Jones lumbered eagerly towards the edge of the hemisphere and Killian cornered his speedy daughter in her water globe so he could lift her out, Emma went inside the house. Killian was a little disappointed; Hope was amazed at how much space she had to swim, and Emma would have adored her antics.
And then Jones roared at something. Killian turned from Hope, who’d been darting around his trailing tentacles, to be greeted by the sight of Emma in a bright red bikini that left very little to the imagination. She paused, suddenly looking uncertain, then seemed to shrug off her insecurities and headed straight for them.
Oh.
Emma hadn’t worn the bikini since before Hope was born, and Killian was once again struck by how gorgeous his wife was.
Jones gave a roar that sounded almost like an attempt at a wolf whistle. Killian slapped a tentacle over his eyes to block his view.
He gave Emma the ‘tentacles up’ sign with another.
She grinned and slipped through the iridescent membrane. The water came up to her shoulders at its deepest point, and she ducked beneath the surface, taking a few tentative strokes until she caught Hope’s attention.
Hope zoomed towards her, circling around excitedly. Even Killian got in on the antics; she’d never swum with him in his squid form before. They spent the next few hours playing, taking turns chasing each other, which eventually turned into who could splash each other with the most water (Hope won). Emma conjured up a beach ball, which they proceeded to toss around while Hope chased it.
And then, finally, Hope was utterly worn out, and curled into Killian’s tentacles. Emma switched to a languid float, Killian beside her. When they drifted into the sleeping Jones, Emma leaned her head back on the crocodile’s broad back. Jones grunted, but allowed himself to be used as a living flotation device.
“Now that there’s three of you, we should probably put in a real pool, huh?” Emma mused.
Killian rather liked the idea of being able to swim with his daughter without panicking that she’d be swept out to sea, yes. Also, he quite liked seeing his wife in a bikini, which she’d wear more often if they had their own pool.
And maybe he’d be able to get her out of said bikini and go skinny-dipping with him.
“This was nice,” Emma said tiredly. “Maybe she’s so worn out she’ll actually sleep through the night.”
He hoped so. Neither of them had gotten much sleep pretty much since Hope had been born, and now that she was teething, it felt like they were back to square one when it came to trying to get Hope to sleep through the night.
Half an hour before they were due to change back, they headed inside. Killian and Hope took up residence in the kiddie pool, to ease Hope’s transformation, while Jones sprawled across their couch. He tended to sleep through transforming.
Right on time, Killian’s skin began to tingle, and then the magic rushed through him, reshaping his body inside out until he was back in his human form. Once his vision cleared, his gaze snapped down to his daughter, to make certain it had changed her as well.
An indignant, wet baby glared up at him.
Seeing her chubby pink baby limbs, Hope let out a whine and started slapping the water angrily.
“I know, Little Love. Having to deal with bones again is rough. Especially when you’re my age and they ache.” Killian chuckled and cuddled the wet baby to his chest. She grabbed a fistful of chest hair, and he winced. “Let’s dry off and go join Mum, aye? Tomorrow, we’ll get to play in the pool again.”
Hope yawned, showing the nubs of two incoming teeth. For once, they didn’t seem to bother her, and Killian almost dared hope the excitement of the day outweighed the stress of teething. Killian gathered her up.
She barely lasted through her dinner of strained carrots, and barely even got any on herself - a huge win - and went to bed without a fuss for the first time in over a week.
He and Emma collapsed onto their own bed. Typically, they enjoyed their limited time together as humans before Killian’s 6:00 am change, but this time, Killian didn’t have the energy to do much more than hug Emma to him.
“That went well,” Emma smiled up at him. ”I was worried we’d ruined Hope’s life, but…This might not be a complete disaster after all. We can handle this.”
“We make quite a team, Swan.” He grinned. A snore answered him; Emma hadn’t even managed to stay awake long enough to hear his response. He chuckled quietly and settled back against his pillow. He was only a squid for a few days; he could wait for some human time with his wife.
It was a good life, and he wouldn’t trade it for anything in all the worlds.

The Tenth Doctor’s regeneration takes a disturbing turn.
I originally wrote this in November of 2009, then posted it to AO3 when I created the account in 2012. Since this is supposedly something actually happening, I’m gonna share it.
Okay, here’s what I have so far of the starfish story. If you have any title suggestions, lemme know!
Starfish story
The months following Milah’s death were the darkest in Killian Jones’ life. Mad with pain and grief, he’d done Pan’s bidding in the most brutal ways, earning the moniker of “Hook” as he sliced his bloody path across the seas.
Over time, though his rage never burned out, it did burn cooler. He didn’t feel remorse for his brutality, but he knew he was no longer the man he’d been. He’d been vicious before, but now he was becoming cruel. His self-loathing grew each time he’d buried his hook in someone’s guts.
Captain Hook was a monster.
And the bloody thing taunted him. The hook was an efficient weapon, but it came at a cost. His arm had never healed properly beneath the brace, and it was prone to pains that shouldn’t exist.
The pains were worse than normal tonight. He’d blocked a cudgel with his brace, and the blow caused a sharp pain to shoot through his arm, from his elbow to the tips of the fingers he no longer possessed, and the pain had only worsened since.
He could feel those missing fingers spasm, and there was no way to soothe the pain except oblivion.

Ah.. my first foray into Doctor Who fandom. And also my first fanfic under my new pseudonym! My mother had discovered my previous one, and destroyed my desire to write anymore. Years later, I got back into writing with this odd little offering, which has pretty much defined my writing style since. I'd gone from a moody, grimdark writer (thanks to my personal life) to, uh... quirky? might be the kindest way to describe my style.
This was the start of a series that used and abused various tropes. This was the 5 + 1 style.
It was also my first real exploration of gender beyond the strict binary I was raised with. I don't know if it was a successful exploration, but it was fun for me.

To control a monster, you must first control what it loves the most, even if you have to raise the dead to do so. Happy Halloween.
As of this post, this is my longest fic, though another is about to take that title. Written under my old username of LadyKayoss, it was one of those famous "It was supposed to be a one-shot! Well, five chapters at most!" stories before it developed more plot than planned.
It was based around a simple premise: what if Rosie Octavius came back as a zombie? It somehow evolved into so much more (and sadly, Rosie became less zombie than I'd originally planned), becoming more about corporate greed and the lengths CEOs will go to to make money.
I'm very proud of this fic. Not just because it's finished, but because the plot remained coherent, the action sequences were (mostly) decently written, and at one point, I was even churning out chapters once a week! It was an amazing time for me.
It occurred to me that I should advertise my DBH fic on Tumblr, so here it goes.
I have two so far, one a rare pair (Elijah Kamski/Leo Manfred) and one that's currently Connor-centric, though other characters will feature later.

Or you could try something that's more of a mystery. Even to me. 👀
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the
Organization for Transformative Works
When Elijah Kamski is critically injured in an attack, Connor and Hank investigate. Multiple groups are taking credit for the attack, and they must dig deep into the man himself to discover who wanted him dead the most.
Finding the attacker is far more important than the human authorities realize; Elijah is the creator of androids, and an attack on their creator is an attack on android-kind. If Connor and Hank can't solve the mystery, another revolution will erupt - and this time, it may end in violence.
There's still a few hours of Elijah Kamski's birthday left, so I'm gonna boost a couple of my fics.
For April Fools Day, I posted a story called Aspects, in which Elijah regained control of CyberLife and discovered six android 'duplicates' of himself - only, they weren't exact duplicates: one was a sexbot, one a YK, one a geeky version of his younger self, and then a trio of oddities: a doll-sized Elijah, a cat with Elijah’s face, and a massive head on a tiny body that was based off this screenshot of Neil as "Big Head Kamski."
It was meant to be an odd one-off, but now there's a sequel involving a murder mystery. And possibly world conquest.
If crack treated (somewhat) seriously is your thing, then An Ego of Kamskis may be the series for you.

Meanwhile, Connor investigates the unusually large number of mysterious deaths tied to CyberLife. Elijah has an enemy, one that will need to be eliminated before the next revolution.
I really like this series; I don’t know what I was expecting, but it was certainly beyond my expectations. Crack idea, executed in a serious and humorous manner.
If you wanted Elijah Kamski fic, you literally can't get more Elijah Kamski anywhere else!
Here’s a doodle/(fanart I guess?) of Cat-Elijah I drew from my head. I may be inspired to draw the entire ego :p
Cute? Cursed? Both?
Elijah tugged at the leash, and Cat-Elijah stood slowly, stretching out luxuriously (prompting Elijah to say “Big stretch,” because he’d discovered Cat-Elijah would keep stretching until someone said it)
It was a fruit bat. A rather large one, at that. It stared calmly back at them with its wide, dark eyes, and twitched its ears. It seemed completely unbothered at being a bat-burrito, suggesting it was accustomed to being handled. It yawned, exposing sharp canines, one of which had a small chip in it.

“We’re fine with strangers - so long as they don’t bring trouble.”
He grinned, flashing sharp teeth. “And I look like trouble?”
Emma arched an eyebrow.
His smile widened. Oh, he knew exactly how he looked.
“Killian Jones,” he said, offering his hand. Emma lifted a brow when, instead of shaking, he brushed his lips across the back of her hand. “A pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
She hmmphed, refusing to be charmed by his old world manners.
A LOT happens in this seemingly quick adventure, but it's such an interesting world that's been built! Also--I had no idea how freakin' adorable fruit bats were until this story. Please take the time to check it out and send wyntereyez some love!!!
