BOZUKO: The Tribes, a magazine produced by the Japanese futen-zoku (crazy vagabond tribe) or saike-zoku (psychedelic tribe, a loan word from English, who wore their hair long (and grew big beards in the case of the men), preached peace, wore bright wild clothing and played Japanese foku (folk, another English loan word) music.
Despite the name, Japan’s harsh drug laws ensured that the only really abused drugs among the saike-zoku were sleeping pills.
Here is a contemporary article from the New York Times on the movement: https://www.nytimes.com/1967/08/26/archives/japanese-hippies-take-over-a-park-in-tokyo-members-of-crazy-tribe.html
