“That was what I was going for.” Wade had no idea when it happened but somewhere between hiring Kimber and now he had started to value her opinion about things more and more. Even looking for approval from time to time. “Ugh, I’d kill for someone who’d let me take her to a burger place without getting upset that its not some fancy 5 star restaurant.“ he pointed out before sighing. “But alas.. the ladies prefer small dinner plates these day it seems.”

He chuckled when he heard Sadie’s protest. The kid had her mothers temperament and his stubbornness. She was going to be a handful tonight, he could already tell. “I wish you good luck with that little monster,” he grinned.

“Um, I’m running low on shirts so yeah, knock yourself out.” He opened the fridge and took out a bottle of water to take with him for in the car. “Just.. you know, don’t judge the mess in my room. Been a little too busy to get to cleaning it.” Of the whole house there were two rooms he had forbidden Kimber to step foot into without his permission and those where the master bedroom and his bathroom.

Kimber focuses on getting the macaroni and cheese just right since Sadie is very picky with her macaroni. “I hope she tries herself out real quick tonight. I would like to be able to write some tonight. But she’s putting up a fight now, it’s only gonna get worse.” She wrinkles her nose chuckling a bit. “I would never judge you on mess. Because if I did I would be constantly judging you.” She teases him, winking a little bit. She honestly didn’t mind dealing with mess, his or Sadies. After all it was her job to take clean up after them so really it wasn’t a big deal.

“If you want I can pick it up a little bit. But I know how you are about the bedroom and everything so its whatever. Totally up to you honey.” She peeks into the oven to check on the nuggets. She pulls them out a few second later and puts a couple on Sadie's plate, wanting them to cool off a little bit before giving them to the toddler. She looks over at Wade and smiles a little. “You better get going. Don’t wanna upset your date with your lateness.”

Some had said it was too soon to start dating again but Wade had never been one to listen to others when it came to his personal life, that was -like it already says in the words themselves, personal and Wade liked to keep it that way. And he knew for a fact that his wife would have wanted him to carry on and find someone that makes him happy when he deemed the time right for it. But the dating scene had changed while he’d been married, and even though woman seemed to be more than interested the second they found out that owning a coffee shop was just to keep himself busy instead of enjoying an early retirement -he was loaded after selling an app he developed in college- it was a clear sign to him to keep on looking for somebody else.

Wade checks himself in the mirror one more time and straitens out the front of his button down shirt. He can hear his daughter’s strong no coming from the kitchen and he envisions her sitting there, shaking her head at whatever Kimber is trying to get her to eat.

He grabs his phone of his nightstand. “Hey, I have 10 more minutes before I’m even close to running late.” he replied, chuckling slightly as he enters the kitchen. “Does this look okay,” he asked Kimber as he pecks Sadie’s cheek. He peaked over Kimber’s shoulder to check what she’s making. “Yum, nuggets. Lucky you, Sadie. That looks way more enjoyable than a five course meal that still leaves you craving for food. Why they make portions so small in these fancy restaurants is beyond me.”

Kimber couldn’t help but smile a little when he asked her is what he had on was okay. “It looks great.” Did she have a thing for Wade? Maybe but she didn’t dare act upon anything. After all he was her boss and that would severely complicate things. She’d much rather keep things a simple as possible. “They make them so small so you spend more money I guess.” She wrinkles her nose, chuckling lowly. “That’s why I don’t go to those kinds of places. I’d much rather prefer a big ‘ol burger than some small dinner plate.” She smiles before turning to put the nuggets into the oven.

“You got about fifteen minutes before dinner is done. And then after dinner it’s bath time.” She could hear the little girl in the other room protesting that. She looks over at Wade and smiles. “I haven’t even gotten to bed time and she already protesting me.” She makes a slight face, sticking her tongue out a little.

“So I was going to do some laundry after I put her down for bed. Did you want me to was some of your stuff too?” She asks as she looks through the pantry, trying to figure out what else she could make Sadie for dinner. She eventually decides on some mac and cheese. She gets the box out and starts getting everything ready to make it.

Being a live-in babysitter wasn’t something Kimber was actually looking to do with her life. She always dreamt about being a famous writer or something important but this was actually the best thing for her right now. She basically got a place to live at for free and she was able to save money for college. She took a few classes but most of them were online since Sadie, as well as Wade. was a priority. She loved kids but knew that she wasn’t ready to have her own so this was also pretty great practice.

“Sadie, baby, you need to eat actual food. All you’ve had today were snacks and that’s not really good for you.” She wrinkles her nose, chuckling lowly. Of course like a typical 4 year old Sadie didn’t like that. “No!” She shakes her head, smiling slightly. “I knew you’d say that. But how about some chicken nuggets? I’ve got some dino shaped ones.“ The little girl smiles and nods at that before running off to play with something. She goes about her business making the nuggets for Sadie as well as a few for herself.

In the distance she can hear Wade getting ready for yet another date. She glanced at the clock before calling out to him. “You better hurry, it’s almost 6:30. You’re gonna wind up being late.”
