I am seeing a lot of people post some genuinely cult-like shit about how all queer and trans spaces are all transmisogynistic, and it worries me that lonely trans girls are gonna see that and isolate themselves even more.

As a person who Goes Outside I can say that the vast majority of trans spaces I've been in are a healthy mix of transmascs and transfems. Most (but certainly not all) lesbian spaces I've been in have been totally fine including trans women. Many gay male spaces I've been in even include some trans women.

Obviously my experiences aren't universal. I can't speak to anyone's personal negative experiences in queer groups (God knows Ive had some horrible experiences myself) I just really want to encourage people to seek community with other queer and trans people because I know it exists.

Okay so. Reminder for everyone about the double bind. I feel like a lot of recent discorse has forgotten it.

women who are feminine will be demeaned, not taken seriously, and seen as lesser. Women who are masculine are going to be seen as improper, scandalous, and dangerous. there is no middle ground here, you just are punished no matter what you do.

and i think we forget this when applying to trans people. no trans person of any gender is rewarded for acting in anyways. trans men are not rewarded for being masculine. nor are trans women. nor vice versa. enben arent gaining advantages being fem or masc in any way, its just a change in reason to oppress them. There is a double bind that will punish you no matter what.

So stop talking about trans men being rewarded by the patriarchy or trans women getting benefits for being feminine. we are all victims of the double bind and the only way out is liberation. There are no "ideal" trans people under our current society for you to get mad about.

PLUS THE RACIAL TRIPLE BIND. RACIALIZED PEOPLE HAVE ANOTHER AXIS OF THE BIND AND ARE PUNISHED HARSHER AND MORE STRICTLY

sometimes a trans woman wins against a cis woman. sometimes a cis woman wins against another cis woman too. yet only one of them is allowed to win without facing consequences.

ADDITIONALLY. if your standard of evil masculinity is based off of cis vs trans men, you're defining trans men by them "being women." full stop. don't do that! please!!

And non-binary people (especially non-binary people who went through androgenizing puberty) will have to "prove" that they're not too man/masc-aligned. Half the time enben are seen as woman/man-lite, and I have no idea how you'll treat cistrans or masc-aligned non-binary people that you perceive as "basically men".

And intersex men, I will add. They're often forced into "basically pericis" or "no way you're cis", and are treated accordingly.
