Meet one of the largest and most powerful eagles, the Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja). This apex predator is native to forests in Central and South America where it hunts down monkeys, sloths, and sometimes even small deer. Some of its impressive features include long talons that resemble bear claws, a 6.6-foot- (2-meter)- long wingspan, and a hooked beak. It can weigh up to 19.8 pounds (9 kilograms) and carry as much 15 pounds (6.8 kilograms) in its crushing grip. Photo: Luiz Fernando Matos https://www.instagram.com/p/B4y3m_ag5bv/?igshid=16fsgqogmn6i
