I’m just laughing really hard at this because this is the best establishing character moment, Xanatos’ entire explanation is “I’m just so fucking rich and powerful and amazing, who wouldn’t want to attack me? Come on Goliath, I’m the actual shit. I’m just the shit. Welcome to the 20th century.” 

And even if this isn’t the actual reason behind this particular attack, 1) this is an entirely reasonable argument, so he is technically 100% not lying here, he’s just lying very indirectly about this individual instance - got dang, Xanatos, you should be a freaking lawyer - and 2) yeah, he really, really is.
