While cleaning out my exes grandmothers house, she passed away Sunday, we found this great piece of ephemera. It’s probably from early 70s SF/Oakland. She was an amazing woman, moving to the Bay Area during the Second Great Migration/Southern Diaspora to obtain work during the economic war boom of WWII, finding employment in the shipyards of Richmond and Vallejo. She lived through some amazing SF history- the Summer of Love, the rise and fall of the Black Panther Party, First-wave Feminism, she attended countless Monterey Jazz Festival’s, loved the blues, raised many children (many not her own), and helped me get through library school.
