So I am back at both jobs and it’s been 6 days at the one that was driving me crazy. I’m realizing why. A) I’m stuck at the front desk when I need to be away from doing things but I can’t use the solution my boss wants me to and B) instead of just following policy of how to do things people are coming up with other things which I then have to talk to them about.
I’m learning I have to be really specific with my husband now about plans. I didn’t use to need to do that but with the baby somehow he needs explicit information. If I say I want to have a family day but there is a work thing at 1, that means we need to get up and do family stuff. He is still asleep at 9:30 (granted so is the baby) but we will have time to get food and that’s it at this point and it’s so frustrating.
My housemate/best friend responded with “stuff” when asked what he was doing after work tonight. It’s 11pm and if you’re going to be secretive and mention “waiting for the green light” and taking a little bag with you, I’m assuming you have a hookup. Which is fine. He’s an adult and can do what he wants. But it’s odd when he normally doesn’t be secretive and mentioned not being into casual stuff anymore. It’s just confusing.
The next day, unprompted, he tells me he had this hookup and how it was so great and they cuddled and talked between sex. Which like, good for him! But then he says this girl isn’t looking for a boyfriend and they had never gone on a date before. They flirt when he orders Taco Bell after work. We are in our 30s. I know he is lonely but he wants a wife and family - he has said this so many times. I get he misses sex but dude, at least find a girl who is interested in commitment.
It’s been 2 weeks and he has seen her maybe 4 times that I know of. He texted tonight he wasn’t coming home. If he is staying over after this short a time and she won’t commit I’m gonna be concerned for him. He gets attached fast and this could get ugly.
Oh and let’s add on, he texted he wouldn’t be home tonight after midnight but he knew he wouldn’t when he left this morning because he took his work uniform for tomorrow with him. (I saw it on the ring.)
I honestly think the only reason this is bugging me is because he told me she doesn’t want a boyfriend, she’s almost ten years his junior if I recall properly and even I asked her name he made a crude joke about calling her “big boobs” which is so unlike him. This just feels off.

I am so grateful for the gift from my husband and don’t want to complain but he only skimmed the text I sent about the item being on sale around Black Friday and didn’t use the code to get 50% off and didn’t get me the color combo I wanted. He just opened the link and got the default.
I didn’t notice until after we got home from his parents’ and I don’t think I can return it because we took the tag off part of it and the website it’s pretty specific about tags on.
I hate this makes me sound ungrateful but it hurts my feelings just a little that he didn’t read the text properly.
And also that I put a bunch on my list to make life easier when I get back to work with the baby and we talked about it and I didn’t get any of them.
It was still a wonderful Christmas but I’m feeling a tad vulnerable right now since it’s 5 months since my dad died.
Anyways, just doing my usual scream into the void.
I genuinely don’t understand the appeal of hooking up with someone who won’t date you.
My boss keeps changing how we do PTO and how we do hours off on paid holidays. Every year I have worked here I get 8 hours on the holidays even though I work at most 6 hours a day. She says this year we get 5 because that’s what we work.
We also decided to do sick pay up front and not an accrual basis 2 years ago when the law changed. She now says we have been doing it wrong and wants to go back to accrual because we need to be compliant and it’s not fair for the new guys to get 40 hours up front. They can’t! There is a probation period per the law.
I have been out of the office on maternity leave and now I’m back 2 days and going to have to bring all this to her attention without seeming like a problem.

The old people at one of my jobs really can’t retain any information about how to log in to their desktop, the difference between their log ons, how to save attachments on our system, etc. and they all come to me.

I didn’t realize my disability paperwork said I was cleared for work on 1 November (it’s 30 October now) and I am so not physically okay enough for work. I was feeling fine 1.5 weeks ago at my appointment but since then my abs/hips/back have all had more pain and weakness. (I think it’s as my kid gets bigger and I’m moving her around more and not just resting.)
I emailed my doctor and I’m hoping I can get it extended but I don’t know if I’ll still get my payment in next Thursday or not.
And I may have passed the deadline for applying for Paid Family Leave benefits which even though they are taxed would have been helpful. I’m not ready to go back to work, even if I can bring my baby. She’s not even 7 weeks old yet. I was planning on coming back either before Christmas or just after. A whole 2 months early makes me so sad.
Somehow agreeing to talk to this woman about what she needed help with turned into her thinking I agreed to it. I was willing to give it a try but not 2 days later I’m realizing trying to do 18 hours of work each week with a newborn is impossible for me physically and mentally. If I was able to do that I’d just go back to my actual job.
I feel bad because she has helped me out a lot recently but I got 3-4 hours of broken sleep last night, my pelvis and abs hurt so bad (so does my back) and I just don’t have the capacity for work right now.
I wish I had something on Friday instead of waiting all weekend to see her on Monday and talk more in depth because it means she could have spent time over the weekend trying to find someone else.
But also, babe, I’m 6 weeks post partum and while the work is just office work you want me to drive 15-30 minutes to your office, work for 5 hours and then drive home in rush hour traffic 3 days a week for 2-4 weeks while you are gone with my newborn who is mostly formula fed with a special one that I’d have to bring with me to your office every day because I’m not making enough breast milk. Like dude… be so fucking for real.

Well… I had a baby! She was due on Friday but over the weekend so much happened that I just said “fuck this, I can’t be pregnant anymore” and decided she was coming early. Contractions started at 3:30 AM, I got admitted to the hospital at 2:30 AM, my water works around 6ish? and my beautiful daughter was born at 7:46 pm Monday night.
I love her so much even if birth, though people told me is painful, was the worst thing I have ever experienced in my life.
