Uh… um.. I think it’s spell reversal, actually. Yeah. That. It says it’s in the main block, though. I never really thought it’d be so big, you know? It’s sort of amazing.

Oh. That makes sense. Though, like, everyone called me that before I did, so it’s like, egg and hen, right?

Spell Reversal's not for another half hour. It's my next seminar, actually. You can follow me into class if you'd like. I usually get there early so I can talk to the professor on my own. It's just over there.

Well, it's... Very chipper. If you like that sort of thing.

"Right. That is probably a good call." Will grinned, also imagining Glinda…er, Galinda at this point, finding her room had become a barn for a smelly sheep and his herder. As hilarious as the image was he knew his ears might not survive the toll. He stood up and tapped the sheep lightly in the butt with his shoe. It gave an annoyed baa but got the message and started to move. Will headed out after it, not allowing time for a silence, filling it with snark.

"You know…I can talk. Not only that but I happen to be an intelligent sort, however self-proclaimed the intellect is." He added with a grin before crossing his arms and continuing. "Yet you have asked the non-talking sheep his name without bothering to find out mine."

He was still a bit freaked out by all this. Nerd or not, William was having a bit of brain trouble in the coping department. The humor department was working with the distraction division in an attempt to get his nerves settled enough to breath properly.

Elphaba shook her head. "If only you knew my roommate," she grumbled. "I wouldn't put it past her to actually kill me for letting a disgusting farm animal in her room." She turned to the sheep and patted it apologetically on the head. "Not that you're disgusting, of course. My roommates silly, that's all. Nothing to do with you."

At his question, she shrugged. In fairness, it was a good point. "Maybe I just care more about the sheep's name than yours," she said, a mite huffily. "But okay, I'll bite. What's your name?"

He obviously already knew her name, which was unusual. She'd thought that perhaps he was another student at Shiz she'd accidentally magicked into her room. In that case, it would make sense; she had something of a reputation around these parts. But given the circumstances...

"Wait. How did you know my name, if you've come from Whales?

"I’m sure not everyone thinks that way. You’re clever and very nice when you choose to be, and I’m certain you could make friends if you didn’t…snap out at people so easily. If you think they can look past my appearance then they can certainly look past yours." She gave Elphaba a rather strained smile, wondering if she would indeed make more friends if she distanced herself from her sister. Perhaps there was some truth in Elphaba’s words, but it still seemed too difficult a thing to do. Nessarose couldn’t manage alone, not yet, no matter how much she hated knowing this. 

"Perhaps it is. And if it is, then you definitely ought to stand a chance at making friends. Still, I hope he doesn’t upset anybody."

Her smile grew a little more genuine at Elphaba’s compliment, and she lowered her eyes. “Everybody’s been kind enough to me. I must say, I’m not certain how to approach people. Father usually made the introductions for me.”

"Clever and nice don't count for anything these days," Elphaba said, slightly harshly. "People want a pretty face and a nice physique. They don't care about anything else. You can be as horrible a person as you'd like as long as you've got the looks to excuse your manners."

She sighed, softening. "...Maybe you're right. I've been trying to work on my temper, you know I have. It's just..." 

She didn't finish the sentence. Nessa knew. Of course she did. After years of living in the same house together, her sister knew just how difficult it was for Elphaba to keep her temper in check.

"Why don't we go out together to the lunch hall later this afternoon? I can take you around and introduce you. People'll be so afraid to talk to me that you'll get all the attention." She grinned brightly. "Come on, Nessa. It'll be fun!"

"Trust me, where I come from sheep have long since lost all intelligence. Still, good for conversation if you just need someone to listen. Isn’t that right, you great big woolhead?" William patted the sheep on the rump from where he sat before turning his attention back to the fact that he was fucking Welsh Dorthy and staring at the woman who would one day terrorize the pants off small munchkins and their assorted friends.

"Umm ok how do I explain this? I am not from around here…I didn’t know here existed until a storm carried poor me across who knows where and somehow dumped me into your room.” His sigh was a bit exhausted and his heart was still wreaking havoc against his chest.

"I come from a place called Wales…its very green with lots of dumb sheep. No offense, Einstein." He added to the wooly creature who, again, timed his baa much like a reply.

Elphaba stared back at the strange man disapprovingly. "I'm sure they're plenty smart - just because they can't talk doesn't mean they're completely stupid." She patted the sheep on the head, and said softly, "Isn't that right? I'm sure you're far cleverer than you look, sweet thing."

At his explanation, Elphaba sighed. "I'm sorry," she said, shaking her head. "I think that might have been my fault." She held up the spell book she had been reading and offered it to him to inspect. "Sometimes... sometimes strange things go on around me without my wanting them to happen. It's been better since I started school, but sometimes..." 

"Whales, you say?" she asked, furrowing her brow as she tried to place it. "I don't think I've ever heard of it. It must quite far from here." She had to stop herself from pressing him further about his strange homeland (was it by the sea? were there Animals there as well, or were they all unspeaking brutes like Einstein?), but she stopped herself.

First things first. They could figure out what was going on once business had been taken care of. "We need to get him out of here before my roommate gets out of class," she said, smiling at the imagined expression on Galinda's face if she found out there had been a sheep in her room. "Come on - you can explain more while we take him outside."

"You’ve already given everybody quite the lecture. I doubt that helped." Nessarose pressed her lips together. She was still concerned about Elphaba’s scoldings, hoping desperately that they would not affect her own reputation. "I hope I am liked - some of the students seem nice enough, I think."

She paused, trying to gather her thoughts regarding Dr Dillamond. “Of course I don’t advocate how rude others can be, but doesn’t it worry you a little? He could get into awful trouble speaking like that. And I am well aware of how shallow people can be, although I think I’ve grown a little more tolerant of it than you have.”

Elphaba sighed. "I doubt that made much of a difference, Nessa. You know how it is - nobody wants a friend who looks like me. They'd be laughed out of the room before they had a chance to blink. You'd probably have better luck making friends if you stayed far away from me."

Not that she would ever let her sister go off on her own like that. As much as she resented the fact that she was only being allowed to attend school in order to look after her sister, she took her responsibility towards Nessa seriously. Her sister needed her, and as long as she did, Elphaba would be there to help.

At Nessa's words, she narrowed her eyes slightly. "Maybe in other places, but this is Shiz - it's different here. We don't have to be afraid of who we are here."

At least, she desperately hoepd that was the case.

"You've always been better at tolerating people than I have," she said, smiling. "Sweet, friendly Nessarose – it's a wonder the whole school isn't lined up to be your friend yet."

Oh, OH! But that’s great! You can show me all the way to where the Introduction Class is! I mean, like, are you gonna show me the way? Please?

I mean it’s not my real name, and all that, but I never met any one who doesn’t call me Lucky, so I just started saying my name as that. My real name’s weird anyway. Like… Lucas… It even feels weird saying it, you know? I never really say it.

Oh right? Well, I was trying to go to the Introductionairy Class…. thing. But this building is so big….

You'll have to be a bit more specific. What are you looking for? Bone-mending? Traumatic injuries? Spell reversal? There's a lot going on here and I'm not a mind reader. 

Well, maybe that's because you're always introducing yourself as Lucky. If I told people my name was Froggy, rather than Elphaba, I'm sure they'd start calling me that as well.

Actually, I'm fairly sure that people do call me Froggy when they think I'm not listening. 

I've just come out of the introductory seminar on alternative healing, but it's just let out. I can show you where the classroom is if you want. Why are you here? Are you a prospective student?

"Well, there’s no need to thank me. I don’t exactly have any friends yet and I was hardly going to speak to Morrible. And it went…well, I suppose. His lectures are rather controversial, don’t you think? I can see why you would like him - he is very clever.”

Elphaba laughs. "No, I can't say I've had much luck making friends either. Not that I'm surprised. I'm sure people will love you, though, once they give you a chance."

"They are a bit, aren't they? That's what I like about them – he's not afraid to speak his mind, and I admire that about him. It's really disgusting the way some people treat him, as though he's somehow less than we are because he's got hooves instead of feet. I can't understand people sometimes, Nessa. They're so blind to who people really are - all they see is what's on the outside."

That's an... Unusual name. Though I'm hardly one to talk - Elphaba Thropp at your service. I'm more than happy to try to help you find yourself. Where was it you were trying to go, and how did you manage to lose yourself so completely?

"Woah shite!" William jumped. He had looked everywhere but at the one other person in the room. So much for awareness, obviously he needed a few more skill points in that category. He shook his head and got a good look at the green girl before shouting ‘shit!’ and jumping again. It was not because she was green. It was because…

"Elphaba…? Seriously? The Kansas and Todo thing was just a joke. I didn’t seriously think….and um no. The sheep is just a sheep          animal not Animal and all that.”

William found himself in shock, something that rarely happened to him. He was best friends with a Warlock who was probably some sort of reincarnation of the most famous wizard of their universe. But now knowing there might be other universes….who was he kidding? There were other universes. The magically inclined half of his brain was even a bit panicky and he found himself slowly lowering to the ground.

"Woo, ok don’t mind me. I think the rest of me has to catch up with the part of me that just got transported from modern Wales to bloody Oz. Interdimensional lag, s’ what it is.”

"He can speak for himself, you know," she snapped, a trifle irritated. She couldn't stand it when humans got all high and mighty and acted as though they were the only ones with the right to talk. She'd met dozens of Animals with far more sense than most humans.

She crouched down before the sheep, smiling kindly at it. "Hello, there. What's your name?"

The sheep just stared back at her dumbly, chewed at nothing, and eventually replied with a hesitant, "...Baaaa?"

Elphaba sighed. "Okay, he can't speak for himself. Still, it's rude to just assume." She got back to her feet and returned her attention to the young man. Crossing her arms, she asked, "What's a Kansas, and what were you doing with a whale?"

William brushed the dust off his french poodle t-shirt from his new position on the floor. Things had just gotten a little weird for him, which was way weird for the universe he came from. Will was used to random, crazy, magical storms but normally they were caused by Merlin. For once, Will was sure it had not been his friends fault.

William squinted to get a good look at where he had landed but was, instead, shocked into scurrying away from something that had touched his head.

"Oh shite!" He cried.

The stray sheep he had gone after gave a rather rude baa, apparently offended that Will did not allow his hair to be eaten. Will got to his feet looking around, wide-eyed.

"You are bloody well on target, Todo. I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore.”

The sheep baaed again. They had never been to Kansas.

Elphaba had been halfway through her reading on transdimensional conjuration when the man appeared before her.

She started, but only slightly. It wasn't a complete surprise – her magic must have reacted without her permission to what she was reading, pulling the poor man through space and time into her bedroom.

It wouldn't be the first time.

With deliberate calmness, Elphaba set her book down on the end table before looking up to confront the intruder. "Three questions: where did you come from, how did you get here, and why is there a sheep in my room?"

Turning towards his fluffy companion, she added, far more kindly, "No offense to you, of course – can you talk? Baa?" She wanted desperately to reach forward to pet the dear sweet thing, but was afraid it might be considered disrespectful.
