Rowan Bennett's life had always been one filled with creativity and a passion for the little things that nobody else saw. Her parents were nurturing, but occupied with their jobs—her mother, a literature professor and her father, a biochem researcher. While her parents loved her dearly, Rowan wasn't very close with them. She was the odd one out, the one who didn't want to work in a corporate job. Still, her parents supported her dreams. From a young age, Rowan was determined to do something creative, no matter if it meant she might struggle a little bit more than others. The absence of her parents left Rowan to her own devices, and the creativity she possessed led her throughout her daily life.
With so much time to herself, Rowan chased her curiosity wherever it took her. She never had a boring day, each and every one filled with some sort of little project. The things that most would find boring were her most prized hobbies—watching strangers in Kismet's cafes and sketching them, organizing her sketchbooks by colour, and making little dioramas out of little items she found around the house. Rowan was always the type of person who could find something to do with herself anywhere she was with anything she had.
While her parents were out, Rowan would spend her time flicking through the television channels, only stopping when she found a cartoon that piqued her interest. One day, she came across an episode of Looney Tunes which would spark her lifelong dream: being an animator. The movement of the characters, the colours, and the style each frame was drawn in held her attention, and she knew what she wanted to do from that day. She spent hours every day after school studying the animated shows and movies, pausing and rewinding to catch the exact way the frames were stitched together so effortlessly. She'd copy the art just the way she saw it to understand fully, and take what she'd learn to create her own little flipbook animations.
School for Rowan was never easy, and often, she didn't do well in many of her classes. Art class was the one subject she tended to excel far ahead of the other students. She would listen to her teacher explain every subject, finding importance in even the littlest pieces of information. She enjoyed going online after school and researching each thing that was spoken about in these art classes, going far deeper into the topics than was necessary. Rowan wanted to know all of the ins and outs of anything artistic.
Outside of classes, other students in her school would ask Rowan to draw them, and various other random things. She was the 'school artist', and people would always go to her when they needed any help with anything artistic. She was what most would call a little quirky, but it never held them back from befriending her. Rowan's lack of judgement was comforting to others, and they enjoyed spending time with her because of it.
As Rowan grew, she experimented with many different hobbies; she tried crochet, cross stitch, and even knitting, but none of them ever stuck. The one hobby that did stick was drawing, more specifically her fascination with animation. She attempted to animate in more modern softwares digitally, but the traditional 2d animation always had her heart. She wanted to be like the animators of her favorite shows and movies, and had a dream to work for an animation company one day, or even better, make her own shows and movies. She would spend hours creating her own characters, plastering her walls in drawings of them and using them in her mini animations. One of her quirks that she carries to this day is talking to her characters out loud while she works, giving them each a unique voice and personality to match.
Now, Rowan works as a freelance animator, helping people in Kismet with whatever animation endeavor they may need help with. She is often out on the town, sketching in cafes and studying whatever may catch her eye. She finds beauty in everything and everyone, and brings that with her in her artwork.
