QUILT????!!?!?!â
THATâS A QUILT?!?!?
The hard truth about autism acceptance that a lot of people don't want to hear is that autism acceptance also inherently requires acceptance of people who are just weird.
And yes, I mean Those TM people. Middle schoolers who growl and bark and naruto run in the halls. Thirtysomethings who live with their parents. Furries. Fourteen-year-olds who identify as stargender and use neopronouns. Picky eaters. Adults in fandoms. People who talk weird. People who dress weird.
Because autistic people shouldn't have to disclose a medical diagnosis to you to avoid being mocked and ostracized for stuff that, at absolute worst, is annoying. Ruthlessly deriding people for this stuff then tacking on a "oh, but it's okay if they're autistic" does absolutely nothing to help autistic people! Especially when undiagnosed autistic people exist.
Like it or not, if you want to be an ally to autistic people, you're going to have to take the L and leave eccentric, weird people alone. Even if you don't know them to be autistic. You shouldn't be looking for Acceptable Reasons to be mean to people in the first place. Being respectful should be the default.
ive never been naked and if you have youâre disgusting
stop invalidating your own feelings! if you're feeling something you are allowed to feel it!! if someone's actions hurt you you are allowed to feel hurt regardless of if they meant to hurt you or not!
do you ever think oh actually i am never going to stop being eleven years old and lonely
controversial take maybe but disabled people reporting workers (underpaid or not) for being ableist towards them e.g. literally endangering their health and safety is not "problematic" even if you see it as antithetical to leftism lol like if u seriously expect disabled people (especially those w/o jobs and/or are on benefits) to just sit there and stomach violence being enacted against them for the sake of working class solidarity or w/e then fuck you honestly.
i'm mostly referencing physical impairment here but breaking a mobility aid, exposing ppl to deadly allergens or other triggers that could kill them, etc. are serious things. mobility aids are often expensive and an absolute necessity for many disabled ppl. ignoring ppl's dietary needs because you're lazy and that resulting in someone having an attack or any episode that lands them in the hospital isn't some simple mistake. disabled people's lives and wellbeing are not a game. this isn't just a matter of comfort and convenience bc ur negligence could injure or kill someone. take ableism seriously for fuck's sake.
What I love is that most of those people wouldn't bat an eye if it was people reporting workers for other forms of violent bigotry. It's just the Disableds⢠who have to stop being parasitic bourgeois nuisances I guess.
disabled people are often victim to misdirected âleftismâ, being attacked for as you say, âbeing parasitic bourgeois nuisancesâ. Like for example iâve seen people attack disabled people for having carers because they think its the same as a rich person hiring help. or disabled people being seen as karens because theyre demanding that their needs are met or pointing out that theres an ADA violation. disabled people canât do anything without online leftists getting mad lol.
They absolutely do that to us. They legit associate being disabled with being a rich lazy piece of shit who's abusing the working class by having vital needs.
I see (and agree with) your âyouâre one bad month away from becoming homeless (so start redirecting your loyalty from billionaires to the working class)â and I raise you a âyouâre one accident, one insect sting, one sudden mysterious illness, one virus from becoming permanently disabled (so start redirecting your sympathy from the able-bodied class to the disabled)â.
i hate it when u stop being friends w someone or u break up w someone cos uve got all this information about them like at the back of ur mind like their birthday or their favorite game or whatever, and even years later things will come up and youâll think about that person and its like. oh. and it never really Stops
disability advocacy went wrong when it became about inspiration porn and âdifferently abledâ and savants. its incredible that that guy with no legs did a triathlon but your sister with no legs will not and she doesnt need prosthetics or five hour training days to deserve respect and compassion and accommodations. its incredible that that autistic guy can look at a city from a helicopter for an hour and then draw the entire detailed skyline from memory when he lands but your autistic friend cannot and they dont need to have a special Autism Power to deserve respect and compassion and accommodations.Â
activism framed around âwe are just as CAPABLEâ means that when people genuinely are less capable they are left behind. activism framed around âwe are just as WORTHYâ is fundamental to radical compassion.

Audio processing disorder is just like "you are going to be able to differentiate 27 distinct sounds happening simultaneously EXCEPT for when someone's talking to you. Good luck"
People think because my ears are so unreasonably sensitive I must also be able to "hear" them. This is false. I can hear the clock ticking though
