A shrill giggle erupted from the young girl as Ace and Sabo kicked Luffy around. Luffy had blown his rubber body up like a balloon and thought he was super cool, but it was backfiring on him a bit huh! A few years ago she would have fearlessly defended her twin brother, however ever since they met Ace and Sabo, the two had developed a more antagonistic relationship towards eachother. Luffy always paid more attention to Ace and Sabo because he looked up to them, and Mary was jealous because she got left in the dust all the time. Simple as that.

The little girl sobbed as she dragged her feet back up Mt. Colubo to her home. She wasn’t crying because of the bruises that littered her skin– no, she was upset because her older brothers told her to get lost because she was annoying and they wanted to spar properly. Even Luffy joined in, that jerk! He always tried to copy Ace and Sabo! Somehow she always ended up getting left out or running behind all of them, and lately Sabo was the only one that tried to be nice to her anymore!

As she entered the hideout, her damp eyes fell upon Makino. Was she visiting? Mary ran up to the woman, pouncing into her arms and curling her legs around the woman’s petite waist. Makino had always been nice to her…

The slender and gentle arms that held her tight comforted her, and made her feel like she was worth something to somebody.

💘 – ( around 2 years ago. )

Her eyes grew wide as she stared at the wanted poster in her hands, a slight tremor to her fingers as her heart began to beat louder in her ears. Those striking golden eyes and that charming smirk… was she dreaming? She wasn’t sure she had ever seen a man more handsome than him.

She tossed the rest of the wanted posters to her crewmates carelessly, a Spade pirate chiding her for the mess that was now scattered across the floor. She didn’t care. She wasn’t even paying attention to the world around her anymore as she pressed the poster close to her chest, taking a moment to breathe.

Was this love?
