I think it’s funny when fans are shocked people saw mcr in 2005 for $20… like yeah you too can go see a future world famous band at a local venue for $20 right now

It seems some people are interpreting this as meaning that it’s impossible to see certain bands for this price these days? While yes you’re correct what I’m saying is that you never know who is gonna blow up so at one point every artist has $20 tickets. Also normal priced tickets are definitely still a thing if you don’t primarily see artists that are super famous. 95% of the shows I go to are under $50

You can literally be on the ground floor of seeing the next big band right now if y’all would go to local shows. The amount of insanely talented bands out there that play to empty rooms is a travesty. Go support local bands rn

How do you support local bands though

Some tips that could work for you:

Search things like “live music bar” or “live music” into google maps. Look around a bit and check their websites listed on the results page. If the websites don’t have an events page check for other social media. Mostly instagram is the go-to. Some really last minute events will only be advertised via ig stories. Also check the posts the venue was tagged in

(Cont. of above) even if you can’t physically make any of the shows, you now have a list of artists! You can check out their social medias and check anywhere their music is listed (usually band camp as a first option)

If you end up going to the show, buy something! Doesn’t have to be a shirt. Most bands will have at least a keychain or CD. Also most smaller bands have their own members running merch, it’s a great opportunity to compliment them and have brief convos.

It compounds, once you follow one small band on social media, you’ll probably find out about 5 new ones each time they post about a show.

If you’re going to a show, share the events post on social media. Share short videos you took and tag the artists.

Cultivate good relationships and energy when you attend shows, make sure it’s not a hostile place for anyone so they feel safe to return

Don’t treat it like homework or a responsibility!! Go out if you want to and you have fun at these shows!!! You’re not getting graded on any of this :)

Ppl dont seem to realise that "only perceivably queer people should have access to queer spaces and support" and "nobody is obligated to out themselves to you and nobody needs to provide proof of their sexuality/identity" CANNOT coexist.

People are very quick to say "nobody should ever be forced out of the closet, there is no one way to be queer" but then throw a fit when someone who isnt visibly gay plays a gay character or when someone who isnt officially out acts in a ~queer way~.

Also, sometimes the person you think is the poster child for cisheterosexuality is in fact incredibly queer because that's the way they feel happiest presenting. And sometimes the person you're dead certain is queer is cishet and just really cool about it. And you will never be able to tell the difference on sight and that is a good thing.

my advice to you; put a little dijon mustard in any cheesy beige food. whisk it into your cheese sauce just before u add the cooked macaroni. spread a thin layer in your cheese toasties. add a spoonful to your mashed potatoes with the butter. anything thats gonna be heavy on rich dairy and starches will benefit enormously from the hint of warmth and acidity that dijon mustard will give it, even if you don't add enough to make it Taste Like Mustard (which, ideally, you shouldnt). itll cut through the richness and stop your tastebuds getting fatigue from too much fat&starch, which is important for the overall enjoyment of a dish. ur welcome. take this knowledge and change the world
