LOTRWEEK 2025, day 5: gold | the woods kinda sorta | it grows perhaps the greater
"Then the Lady unbraided one of her long tresses, and cut off three golden hairs, and laid them in Gimli's hand." - Fellowship of the Ring Book II, Chapter 8 "Farewell to Lorien"

@ainurweek Day Four: Arien
Big fan of photos where the sun is framed in between a set of horns or antlers. I also wanted to do a bit of a play of a balrog since Arien is explicitly one of the few fire spirits not corrupted into a balrog by Melkor. A proto balrog? What they were before? What they should be?
Also, she has the sun.
Maedhros: we cannot kinslay kinsplain our way outta this one huh

I wish I had less strong celegorm opinions, because I can no longer entertain a reborn celegorm who hasn't turned as comprehensively on orome as huan turned on celegorm.
Like. Given the chance, I think post-beleriand celegorm *would* help a near-stranger damn orome to everlasting darkness.
a very interesting take on a re-embodied Celegorm and Oromë

Aspirations of the Third Prince [Celegorm]
for @fall-for-tolkien's Scribbles & Drabbles 2025
“Then Feanor swore a terrible oath. His seven sons leapt straightway to his side and took the selfsame vow together, and red as blood shone their drawn swords in the glare of the torches.”
My designs for the sons of Feanor.
I'm usually and in a canonical-reading-context way a very 'the eagles came because it was fingon specifically who asked' kind of truther, but recently I've been thinking—what if it wasn't. what if it was for maedhros. what if maedhros was in fact beloved by manwë specifically, what if manwë sent them for him, finally having a chance to do so, with fingon there. what if it did not change anything, and even with that olive branch, with this sign of forgiveness even after maedhros took manwë's name in vain upon the oath, what after all of this, maedhros still descends on his downward spiral, on and on, """"wasting"""" it all. like, as one possible interpretation, as one thing that would actually somewhat parallel him to celegorm (which I do have a whole meta post on its own for but ain't nobody got time for that) that is actually sooo compelling to me, good fucking god
